The current version of botania is meant to use the latest baubles BETA, not release.

The current version of botania is not compatible with the latest beta build of baubles. I'll try to release an update soon to fix it but until it's out you can fix that crash by using non-beta baubles (for 1.9.4, it works on 1.10.2).

that's the second tier beam sword? is vazkii really only making changes to the mod due to spite anymore?

Okay. So I have, for months, taken upon myself to not post on the forums for my own reasons. I still monitor the thread semi-regularly to find the occasional bug report or important complaint. And as you folks know, I haven't been posting here at all. But this one really rubbed me the wrong way, so I'm going to interject.

I really have no idea how to start with replying to this. What sort of horrible things have I done to you without my knowledge of to make you so cynical towards myself? What type of promise in some other life I might have broken to deserve for an old time user of my mod and regular of my threads to spontaneously turn on me and believe that suddenly, my motivation to create mods and content has shifted towards spite and hatred? Tell me, what did I do to make you believe I'm such a horrible person to go out of my way to hamstring my own creation for the sole benefit of flipping off the people who have supported me for years? Your comment really left a sore taste in my mouth.

Anyway, there's two points here I'd like to clarify. First off, why I nerf or remove old things and second off, the unnecessary negativity that stems from nerfing or removal, causing people to put on their whatever the opposite of rose-tinted glasses is and treating everything as a negative, almost as if other positives did not exist.

Let's start with the first. Let me be bold and honest here, I'm the mod developer. I'm the one who holds the strings, therefore, I'm also the one who knows how tight the strings are, how uncomfortable they feel or how poorly put together they look to someone who's created them. Except for rare occasions, I do nerfs for one of the two following reasons:

    a) Whatever feature I've nerfed, either by itself, or with a very common subset of mods, provides too much for too little. Causing players to not bother with other, more engaging parts of the mod. It's human nature to take the easy way out. That's why good design rarely leaves an easy way out that just overpowers everything else, because many players will just take it and ignore all the rest, deteriorating their experience without even knowing it. This has been the case for thermalilies or the endoflame fuel cap.

    B) I simply do not like the feature or feel it's not as it should be. There's no real complication on this one, if I don't like how something is, I'll change it. God forbid me to have the right to rectify what I've previously made. I don't care if Extra Utilities' ring is more powerful than the Flügel Tiara, I believe flight is better if limited and that's why I limited it. When it comes to the Excaliber, I just disliked the item overall. Sure, it's fun to mess around with and just kill everything, for 2 minutes, after which it just becomes a cookie cutter "lol spam click kill everything" item with no depth or interest. It's bland and overpowered, that's why it's gone and was replaced with something more interesting.

Second off, every time something gets nerfed there's usually a massive wave of negativity surrounding, well, everything. I understand people getting annoyed or sad about the nerfs. If I really liked an item, I would be a bit sad if it got changed or wasn't as good any more. But in the end of the day, you have to realize that the people who've changed that really believe it's better that way. If you don't agree, you're also more than welcome to express your opinion, with arguments and dialogue, like a civilized rational human. But it's not that. It's the overwhelming negativity that gets me every time. Every time there's a nerf my inbox gets a few threats, rashly worded PMs, vitriolic messages on forums like the one you've posted. People just focus their minds around what the one point they dislike and ignore everything else around them. Whenever a nerf happens, everything else might as well not. What about all of these things? Or these? Do these not exist? Do the dozens of changelog lines that contain the controversial changes among many others not exist? (by the way, I post these on reddit.com/r/feedthebeast, if you're interested)

I don't ask you to praise me. I don't intend for you to worship me like some sort of modding god who gives the gift of updates to the people. I just want you to be reasonable and understand that a lot of work goes into this. It's fine that you dislike a change, but try to look at all the other things there as well. Try to realize that nobody's out to get you. No modder's out to break your game or ruin your experience. We aren't demons who feast on the tainted souls of the userbase. We're people, just like everyone else, who, for whatever reason, enjoy creating mods and presenting them to a community. All I ask is for decency and reasonableness. All I ask is for someone to see all that has been done, to not focus their lens on the single thing that might be perturbing them and to broaden their horizons to all of the other great things that are also coming or have come already. Remember that we on the other end are also humans. That words hurt us. That spending hours on hours to create something, only to have all of that work be shattered by hate and vitriol because of a single thing you didn't like, it hurts. It really does.

I'm going back to lurking now. Please don't make me have to post again.

I was told there would be no more 1.7.2 versions. Unless the 1.7.10 version are still compatible I will not be updating. However that mana fluxfield might just solve all my problems.

I can't give support for 1.7.2 though, so you can refrain from posting issues here if you're using an old version.

Can somebody explain to me the soil stuff and all? There's no entry in the book for it. I'm stumped.

I think you're confusing mods. There's no "soil stuff" in this mod.

So I had another issue but it confused me a bit because to me it seems like it is caused by another mod. But they said it was caused by this one.

    https://github.com/AppliedEnergistics/Applied-Energistics-2/issues/529

Also how possible would it be for Botania to become compatible with mods like build craft and applied energetics? In the sense that mana could be used to power things in those mods?

Use the Mana Fluxfield to generate RF. And update Botania.

    Is this a known problem or something unique to my situation;

My ring of the chordata doesn't apply a speed boost on my server, but it does when I try it in single player.

Probably just baubles screwing up again >_>
    Quote from Elvarion»

Will the baubles be able to be seen by other players on a server, or only client sided?
    Looks good either way :)
And btw did you see my bugreport regarding the Rod of Arcane Barrage?

Yep, all players can see it. I already addressed your bug with version 139.

i guess thats up to vazkii. one of the reasons i never used them, because of the way they look with those little wings. he likes stuff like that with anime style and references. hence why botania is rather colorful and light hearted.

though a 3d model would be pretty nice for those robes.

by the way. i still believe the dynamism tablet shouldnt be forbidden knowledge, and the osmotic enchanter should be. it makes no sense right now.

Just as long as they don't ruin the mod I really don't care.
    I'm too late anyway.

I've been thinking... I don't know if it's been suggested yet, but some entities, like chickens and villagers can "poop" resources.wouldn't it be funny when villagers get scared (for example when zombies are near them) they'll start to poop their pants, resulting in an increase in emerald drops?

Well, when I'm mining I feel the need have to have my soujourners sash, magnet ring, angel wings, ring of aura, ring of mana, and alchemical brewery fire resistance ( they're aren't enough slots to hold that). The difference between baubles and armor is that baubles ad more effects as apposed to most armor which adds protection.

And life's about choices. Pokemon would be way more fun if you could have every single move in a single pokemon right, right?

    How to create free bedrock?
    1. Pick up ring of mana.
    2. Destroy any block.
    3. Profit, you cannot destroy anything.

    You are being incredibly annoying.
