My "insight" was that you downloaded the game from multiple sites (as exaggerated using bold text). There are only 2 sites were you can legally download the legitimate minecraft. Im not sure if you are being sarcastic or not, but it seems like it.

    Very observant.

What do you mean by "online version"? -.-

I went to minecraft.net and there is a link to an older version of minecraft. (http://www.minecraft.net/classic)

tried minecraft classic through web browser and it worked with no issues. There is also a browser version of the game at http://www.minecraft.net/play

May I ask how you removed java?

    1. Uninstalled using control panel
    2. Reinstalled using update that was linked to game
    3. Uninstalled using control panel.
    4. Googled link for JRE 1.5.0 and installed that
    5. Installed Jave Version 7 update 5
    6. Uninstalled and resinstalled older version of JRE and Java
7 Redownloaded game from several sites (including minecraft.net
    8. Uninstalled older version and updated to lastest version
    9. Beat my head against a wall.
    10. Friend told me that i was retarded.
    11. Tried online version to see if that worked. Older version of game worked newer version loaded to about 27% and stopped.
    12. Did research for the last two hours of what the problem might be and discovered that others have same issues that I do. I could not find an answer anywhere.
    13. Installed 64-bit version of JRE and Jave 7u5. Still have issue.

How did you do that in 1 minute between posts?

All you should need is Java 7 update 5.

I did all of this before I posted. Like I said, I installed it nine times. I've been at this for the last four hours. Yes, I have Java 7 update 5 and I am still getting the message.

Which Java version, the newest release is number 7.

I went down and installed the lastest version first and when that did not work, I installed an earlier version. When that did not work I uninstalled that and reinstalled the latest verstion again.

Could you link to what version java you are downloading? You bought it from minecraft.net, correct?

I installed both jre 1.7 and then 1.5 and I still get the message...a friend of mine is telling me that I am cursed with retardation in this case. Or that I am just cursed.

Okay...I purchased the game after hearing it get high praises and am now having a very frustrating problem.

I went ahead and downloaded the game and tried to launch it only to get the following message...

"This application requires a Jave Runtime Environtment 1.5.0"

The thing is I have installed this NINE TIMES AND AM STILL GETTING THIS MESSAGE!!!

I have tried everything that I know of (including installing both 32 and 64-bit versions), deleting the file folder for java and oracle, updated the software (three times) and I am STILL getting this error.

Does anyone have ANY idea what is going on?

    Thanks!
