To the date everyone only makes diamond sword and diamond pick, only when there are tons of they may make something else, so my idea is give special abilities to and tools. They keep they durability but have pluses, like:
*Diamond Hoe, 10% chances to make "hard prepared soils", this resists a lot better mobs and animals walking on them.
*Diamond Pick, 5% chances of "perfect mining", get double ores when mining the block iron,coal, gold and redstone, and only 1% for diamond.
*Diamond Hatchet, 5% chances of "swift cut", destroys the wood block with only one or two hits.
*Diamond Shovel, 10% chances to find clay ball when digging earth or sand(more on earth than sand), between 1 and 3, being 3 extremely rarer.
*Gold Hoe, 5% chances to make "golden prepared soil", seeds grow into golden wheat, and then can be turned into golden bread, which heals more than normal bread.
*Gold Pick,
*Gold Hatchet, 10% chances of "Golden swift", gives u golden wood, shines and gives 8 planks instead of normal 4, just decorative besides that.
*Gold Shovel, <5% chances of "find treasure",gives u a golden nugget.
New items:
*Golden Wheat
*Golden bread
*Gold Nugget,may have different sizes, tiny:3 needed to melt into a gold bar, medium, 2 needed, big: equal to a golden ore, Huge,equal to 2 gold bars, the bigger the less possibilities.
I still have to think 1 mores, but this is an overall. If any idea post it.
EDIT: This ideas are meant to make people try getting other diamond and gold tools, and giving a reward for using the rare materials.
I imagine something really simple as a circle that rotates, showing the pass of the day while rotates,half is hidden so the upper half shows the movement of the sun and the moon as time.
There's already a simple minimap, check the maps&modding forum, the guy who made it name's MRMessiah, its really useful, and already changes between day and night, showing torches at night, but since its a eagle eye, it doesn't work underground just shows you where you are under.
Slimes appear even in peaceful cause they are harmless, the only danger is be pushed into the lava,which they are famous for too. Bigger ones can deal u damage. The only time i found them was at lava level near diamons
