posted a message on Worst Game You Ever Played
Worst compared to their hype and public opinion? Minecraft. Given the expectations from its popularity, I was expecting a lot more than what little content this game has. I started in 1.6 beta, but even now I still don't think it has enough content for a respectable alpha. It's long past the time when this game can use indie excuse, too. Community is awful as well. I always thought I'd be at least 40 before I started hating on the newest generation for being a bunch of whiny, ungrateful twerps whom the world would be better off without. Playing Minecraft seems to have expedited my transition into that phase.

Worst compared to the company's funding and potential? Call of Duty: <Insert Anything After Black Ops 1>. I will admit that I have sunk hundreds, more likely thousands, of hours on Black Ops 1, and I've got MW3, BO2, and Ghosts, but I've been consistently disappointed with the promises of 'innovation' and lack of s given about balancing and competitive coop. I didn't have much hope for MW3, and I had fun modding a little bit for the first time in the series, and the custom games were entertaining, so that wasn't a huge disappointment. BO2 had so much it promised but it didn't live up to its expectations by any means in Zombies and the competitive multiplayer was complete crap. Ghosts wasn't anything different. It had a nice, shiny skin on everything which seemed to have deteriorated the actual game underneath when you realized that it wasn't anything special and peeled away the minor graphical improvements to reveal the same crap they've been feeding the middle school community for years. Only this time, the game seemed to have finally rotted away and the stink lines are beginning to show through their nice packaging. Black Ops 1 was my first actual CoD game (Played MW2 a few months before BO1, but I never actually played it enough to get a deep understanding of the game past my 0.22 K/D), so they have likely been doing this for awhile, but I didn't notice.

Biggest scam/waste of money? Angry Birds: Go! One of the countless Facebook/iOS games which have no more excitement than color coding an excel spreadsheet while waiting 30 minutes in between font selections. This one gets a special place just for being an extra **** with the massive funding they got from their first game.

Worst overall? Miley Cyrus Wrecking Ball on iOS. Ads in the middle of a buggy game every 5 seconds that didn't even pause the game when you had to close them which almost guaranteed a loss. Was free thankfully, but definitely the most pathetic thing I've seen get released.

Worst overall that wasn't on mobile devices pr Facebook because they probably take up all the spots in the top 1000? Dofus. That just screamed like a cheap F2P game, and, after spending a few minutes trying to figure out the hopelessly disorganized and buggy UI, I found out that the combat was boring as hell and uninstalled. I'm sure that this applies to a lot of the cheap ports of eastern MMOs though.
    ____
I enjoy a lot of games: MMOs like WoW, Rift, and MapleStory; ARPGs like Diablo, Torchlight, Path of Exile, RotMG, and Spiral Knights; and even dabble into other genres like strategy games, turn-based combat games, and a first-person-shooter now and then. I'd like to think that I have a broad experience with all genres with many games on many consoles, so I've generally played enough to quickly recognize when something isn't stacking up with other games I could be playing.

posted a message on What is your opinion of SimCity 2013?
I think it's a step back from SC4. The smaller cities make progressing very short, linear, and boring. Many suburban areas today would take up half of any SC2013 map. Trying to fit a realistically sized city in SC2013 would compare to shoving a fully grown whale into a key slot. The lack of important systems like the balance between RCI zoning is completely missing. Facilities are absolutely broken with garbage trucks and police vehicles driving in a conga line while neglecting to be useful. The whole game felt excessively easy and uninteresting because a lot of the city management systems found in previous editions to the series have been made completely automated or integrated with the road system. I'm definitely not excited for any 'expansion' (read: minor patch), and I can't be bothered enough to install Origin again and deal with its BS on my new computer. I hadn't thought about that game for months until this thread actually, so it isn't a loss of losing it.

DRM? I don't care, but I don't feel like the dynamic trade market actually added anything to the game.

posted a message on Poll on which game is the best.
Didn't vote because your poll is terrible.
    Quote from Frog81

And if you played Oblivion first, you'll prefer Oblivion. It's just that way, like with Worms games. Everyone else HATED the 3D worms games, while I personally prefer them over the 2D ones, just because I tried them first.

I definitely understand how it feels. All my friends keep trying to get me to play the 2D ones, but I can't understand why they prefer the simple mechanics in those to the same gameplay in a 3D environment. Worms 4 Mayhem was by far the best Worms game I've played, although I haven't tried a great deal of them. Was also my first.

posted a message on Survival Genre of gaming getting larger?
It's definitely a growing genre, and I'm glad. I absolutely love the concept of survival games. They can be extremely challenging with a potentially endless amount of difficulty. That being said, I'm very disappointed with what is passing as 'survival' now. I think survival, along with voxel, is becoming a recent buzz word with all indie devs that are trying to churn out as much hype as possible with promises I have yet to see any live up to.

Done well, I think survival games can be great; however, the games which are passing for survival are either too ridiculously easy that there's no challenge, severely lacking polish, or extremely broken/buggy and without any sort of polish. Quite often, it's all three.

posted a message on BeastNode.com: SSD-Powered Budget and Premium Plans Starting at $2.99/GB with DDoS Protection!
I'm considering buying a server, but have a question about the 15% for life discount code. I plan on starting with the sheep plan for the building phase of the server; if I upgrade my server later (Zombie is most likely if it matters) then will the 15% discount stay or will it go away if the tier plan changes?

    Thanks in advance :]

posted a message on (1.5.2) Rich, Creamy Vanilla Bean Craft - Closing June 14th. Thanks for the good times! Details in thread.
    In-Game Name: Spectrumized

Age (We don't discriminate based on age, only on maturity): 15

Time Zone (look it up if you don't know): PST -8

Have you ever been banned? (honesty is key, we do background checks!): Yes

Why do you want to join this server? (Aim for about 3 sentences): I've always preferred my ice cream vanilla flavored. Oh, and I like vanilla Minecraft too! Throughout all the servers I've tried, and unfortunately I've had to try a lot, the vanilla, community building servers have always gave me the best sense of enjoyment. I grew tired of the b---- fest that most servers try and call "hardcore PvP" and would live to play the game a bit more cooperatively without worrying every second that some diamond armored 'donator' wants to teleport to me and take my items.

What sets you apart from other applicants? (Aim for about 3 sentences): In my Minecraft endeavors, and I'll try and sound modest, I've generally been well-liked by most people I meet, unless we met during a PvP fight of course xD. I try and contribute as much to the server as possible by supplying items to aid in the construction, and helping form the bonds that make community servers so great. I'm a decently active player, and I try and make as many friends as possible. I'm still trying to be modest, but I would also consider myself a very mature player.

What can you bring to the server? (Aim for about 3 sentences): In most games of Minecraft, I try and farm the best I can. Wheat, pumpkins, carrots, netherwarts, and all other growable things I like to farm, reap, and repeat. In addition to regular farming, I like to experiment with my ever-growing knowledge of redstone to automate everything. This server is no real different; I'll likely end up mass-farming and trading for the goods other people can provide with more efficiency (i.e. diamonds, glowstone, etc.) while I safely sit in my nicely built house.

Tell us a bit about yourself: As far as Minecraft goes, most of what I do was answered in the previous questions. Other than Minecraft, I play Spiral Knights, Realm of the Mad God, and several other MMORPGs. I live in California, and I can play almost every day for a couple hours. Whether my free time goes to Minecraft or a different game depends, but I hope this server will be fun enough to make me want to jump straight into Minecraft every day!

Any questions? (optional): Is the nether active? What's the size of the world? Are there any rules as to where and how much you can build (inside and outside of towns)?

Thanks for considering me, and I look forward to joining your experience and being a positive contribution to the server!

posted a message on How many hours of sleep do you get a night?
I tend to get around seven to eight. On the weekends, oddly enough, I normally get less sleep so I can spend more time enjoying the weekend (i.e. gaming like a lonely nerd ;_;) but occasionally I'll have a really long 10+ sleep.

posted a message on Internet pet peeves
I especially hate people who are obviously lying about their real life. This mainly applies to age and occupation. I mean seriously, by your grammar and the way you raged when someone told you "no", you aren't in your 20s and in college.

The excuse of, "English isn't my first language!" also gets irritating when they know a great deal of English swear words and a lot of vocabulary on sex. I get that it might be true for some people, and that's great, but when they are using letters such as u, y, and r to replace a full word, they just aren't trying to type well and I don't see any reason to take them seriously. Grammar mistakes, especially in in-game situations like during a match when they need a quick "heal plz" or "there pushing mid" it doesn't bug me, but in forums I would expect people to use grammar to the best of their ability.

posted a message on Sounds that you find irritating.
In addition to the usual things like nails on a chalkboard, I find dubstep noises irritating. When they're in a song they're alright, but when the boy who was sitting the row in front of me is going 'wub wub wub wub' for the three hour flight, I don't appreciate the sound so much.
