That's okay, I don't like complicated rulesets. This is a different kind of challenge. It's about total freedom, with limited resources.
I've seen all those challenges where you must kill 10 creepers before you build the third tower, but after making the iron hoe. I don't think they're much fun. Obviously, some people disagree.

Are you allowed to use mods on this? I played this challenge using the technic pack. Not MUCH of a difference since the only other ore I see is apatite.
This is a good idea, and a great start, but it needs more ideas than just going 10 levels lower and again, and again, and again, until you get that precious iron. Im thinking of maybe 10 or something phases because people can get bored building a castle you know. There needs to be more detail in the castle building than just "oop! I have a castle!" Maybe you can start with like, make the king's chamber with attleast _ pillars and a throne made of ________________. etc.
There was a building someone made on my friend's server that was on top of a floating island that had water as a lift. I was at the top of it when someone came down from it and pushed me off.
I've used some of these techniques before but I mainly stick to spelunking and branch mining.
while branch mining and spelunking today I managed a whopping 470 diamonds with a fortune 3 pick. 470 diamonds is 7 stacks + 22.
As you can imagine my diamond total was increased a lot by the 470 and I am now up to 2331 diamonds.
Before you say I'm cheating, this is possible its just extremely time consuming, the 470 took me 3 hours to do.
Or get EE2 and sit afk for 10 minutes in front of your energy condenser-energy relay-energy collecter system and get even more.
how about a mob that prevents forum users from posting in the wrong sections and redirects them to the rule page?

Anyways, for reals, I would like tiki people or something like that to gaurd their temples. They are 1 block tall and are both ranged and melee. They throw spears and use their spears in close range. When killed, they drop 0-2 spears which you can right click to throw, dealing damage or left click to melee it is used up in 1 use, but can stack.

2. Figure out that sand has gravity. Then proceed to make the house out of gravel. What the...?
3. Figure out gravel also has gravity; no roof; nightime!
4. Spider likes to climb walls; Oof!
5. Next day, I make a crafting table then right click it in my inventory and wonder why I can't craft.
6. Figure out logs has no gravity; makes roof out of logs.
7. Tree massacre time! Why is it not falling...?
8. 1 month later..... Oh! You can place wooden planks!
9. Use furnace inefficiently; hmmm... I have 1 iron ore... lets plop in a bucket of lava!
10. Sees cactus; ＡＨＨＨＨＨＨＨ！！！！！NOＮＯNONＮＯＮNONＮＯＮ!!!ＤＯＮＴBLOWＭＥUP!!!
11. realize my fonts seem to be spazzing out...
12. Watch the yogscast COMPLETELY out of order.
13. lets make a mob trap! why don't we test it out... Ｙｏｕ ＤＩＥＤ

A creeper on top of my friend's house spinning around trying to get 1 block to him... with a glass roof.
His screaming on skype was so loud that I visited the doctor the next day to see if I needed hearing aides.
