wow. heh.
I had it working but I didn't put blocks on top and the lag I was getting didn't show all the piston movements.
sorry 'bout that.
thanks all, though. 'specially zhul, having a model of it really helped me figure it out XD
[even though all I did was figure out it was working and I was too oblivious to realize it ]
The first row you see in the screen is just copied (tiled) to the back.
If you want to see it in action, download my testworld and walk to x = -268, z = 128.
(There's also an alternative setup near there showing how to have such a Jeb-style trapdoor controlled by a lever instead of a button if you prefer that, x = -278, z = 138).
downloading and checking it out now. I dunno if I missed anything, so being able to see it and examine it will be awesome. I'll let you know if/when I can get it, thanks.
I had some issues too with copying the design but I succeeded eventually :smile.gif: All repeaters are set to 1 tick. The most important thing is the button with the inverting torch. And the torch powers the whole thing not the button itself.
Just try again.
I just tried to do this, and I can't see what's causing the problem. or rather, I can't see how this would work. when I push the button, the side facing pistons go, the up facing pistons stay down. then when the button's power is off again, the pistons slide back into place.
I tried copying it as close as I could but it isn't working :/
4x4 will be hard to do if possible at all with a flush floor.
But there are several options for 2 wide (tileable as long as you like), e.g. like this:
Here the input is just a button (but inverted), the mechanism itself acts like a T flip flop.
I tried building something like that, but I couldn't get it to work :/
when the middle pistons were pulled back by the ones on the side, they'd activate and end up making a one block tall wall on either side of the gap that couldn't be reset without breaking and replacing the blocks when it's closed.
anyway, I'm not too skilled at redstone, but I can follow instructions, so I can't figure out how to make that but if you [or anyone else who's willing] could provide an explanation as to how it'd be put together that'd be lovely.
thank you. I think I'll try making that again, see if I can adjust my design and work it out. if I get it working I'll let you know :tongue.gif:
im bored anyway, im gonna make one 4x2 floor trap and post screenshots from every angle of the wiring etc so u can see how its done :tongue.gif:
[EDIT:] crap, i tried, but everytime it opens up so the pistons move to the side out of the way, they get extended by the torches that are ment for the other pistons so they fire upward and made a little wall beside the gap :S
anyway, 4x4 would be even harder, so no idea why your requesting that as a backup lol
I've seen several tutorials for 4*4 trap doors, but none for 2*4. I figured they're easier to find so if no one can get a 2*4 working I could hopefully find a 4*4 tutorial I can understand.
that's the exact problem I've been having trying to make it. :tongue.gif: either the middle pistons don't get signal, or they're on even when they're pulled back.
most of the stuff I can think of would require the gap to be lower than the rest of the floor when shut. >.<
It's probably been posted somewhere, but I can't find a singe tutorial on how to make a two by four horizontal hidden piston door. and by hidden I mean that when it's closed, the door is flush with the floor around it.
I don't know if I'm just blind, but I can't seem to find anything explaining what I'm trying to make. I tried just building it myself but there were some definite issues I couldn't get around.
if you know of a tutorial on this, I'd appreciate if you'd give me a link. If not, but you know how to make one, it'd be awesome if you could explain it.
I'm trying to make a trap where there's a piston door to get in, but if you push the wrong button while trying to open it, the floor underneath you opens up and you fall into lava. It'd be to prevent people from trying to break in. there'd be two buttons on your left and two on the right, and three would be connected to the trap door, while the other would open the gate into the castle.
I just can't seem to get it to work. If I can't do 2*4, then I suppose I could use a 4*4.
if you're going to link to a 4*4 tutorial, please don't link to a video.
I don't know why, I just can't follow video tutorials.
I'd appreciate if someone could help. Thanks in advance.
This has been posted before, but I don't mind. Although this is a good idea that they will likely add later, what we really need to be able to do is craft any block WITH redstone to make a block that looks the same as normal but conducts (and doesn't change appearance when there is current). It would make our contraptions much sleeker.
true. that would be really nice to have, especially when in smp [because then it wouldn't be obvious there was circuitry going on when you looked at it, and it would be easier to protect your house from other players :tongue.gif:] imo
honestly, one of the main reasons I want this is because I really like being able to make awesome looking things in minecraft, but there aren't any red blocks besides wool to use. :tongue.gif: I'm kinda vain and picky, ik, but the creating is one of the big things of the game for me. the functionality would make it even more awesome when making redstone contraptions simply because they'd look cooler :tongue.gif:
EDIT:oh, also it'd be great for compact storage because sometimes when you mine a lot but don't use redstone you get a ton of it and it takes up a lot of space.
I dunno if it's been suggested, but I think there should be redstone blocks. I mean, we have lapis blocks, right? It would be neat if we had redstone blocks that were crafted in the same way, 9 redstone in and 9 redstone out. [if that makes sense at all?]
the blocks would be active blocks, like torches, and would function as a connecter when placed between two redstone/buttons/redstone powered blocks etc, so you can have a direct connection through a wall without any gaps. The connection would work from all sides on the same level and the level above it. It could look similar to lapis blocks except red, or it could be like red gravel. I think either would make sense. :tongue.gif:
They would glow the same level as redstone torches, glowing redstone etc, so they could also be used as a dim light source [although this is kinda unuseful I think it would be cool].
I just think it would be a cool thing to have, personally.
comments? critique? reasons why I should never ever post anything ever again on the internet due to my stupidity? XD
respond if you read and have an opinion at all, please. or questions. or both.
so I'm trying to install, but whenever I try to put stuff in minecraft.jar I get this:
! Cannot rename __rzi_42.4211184 to C:\Users\Amanda\AppData\Roaming\.minecraft\bin\minecraft.jar
! Cannot create C:\Users\Amanda\AppData\Roaming\.minecraft\bin\minecraft.jar
The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process.
what? O.o
people on the server I go on have been telling me to install this mod but I have issues with mods for some reason >.<
Whether or not people have requested this and it didn't make sense to you, doesn't allow you to just tell us what you want. People need to stop requesting things and learn to make them.
well, ya know, this forum here is entirely about mod requests. Which means people are allowed to share what they'd like to see happen. Why are you looking through these threads if all you're going to do is tell people to make it themself or their ideas suck or that they don't have a right to ask for someone to make something? this subforum is titled "requests/ideas for mods". if you don't like people posting for what they want instead of just making it, get out. it's rude and impolite of you to come here and basically diss the whole subforum. it's separate for a reason. You don't like it, ignore it. I didn't make you read my post. You chose to. I'm allowed to share my opinions as much as you're allowed to share yours. It's a request, not a demand. if no one wants to make it, they don't have to.
I know there are several obsidian tool mods out there, but they don't make too much sense to me, honestly. As far as durability and speed, that is. obsidian is hard to mine, yeah? so shouldn't obsidian tools be really durable and efficient?
So, for example, the pickaxe would have really, REALLY good durability. like, way better than diamond. it would mine obsidian at about the rate stone picks mine stone. it would be pretty fast for other blocks, too; however, there wouldn't be much of a chance of drops from anything but obsidian; the other blocks would be completely obliterated. it'd be good for clearing and getting obsidian, but not much else, so it balances out a bit.
Shovels would work at the same speed as gold or I guess something else if you think it's unfair. the tools would all be similar in the fact that they work fast and have good durability. I think that if possible, the character could lose health if using them for too long. or hunger. I guess hunger makes more sense. Like, it's a lot faster, but harder work, and you lose food 2x as fast.
I don't think there would be obsidian armor. I can see how people would like the matching sets, but it doesn't seem too logical. I don't think obsidian would be able to flex at all or allow much movement. Maybe there could be armor, but it makes you move slower.
and I know that all's unlikely, but if someone would be kind enough to make it, that'd be awesome.
and if you're willing, making it match the violet obsidian in Painterly Pack would be even better.
I'd make it myself, but I don't have any idea how to mod something like that.
ideas are welcome here, too. it's a rough outline of what could be, but I think it'd be useful.
Plus I really love obsidian. :wub.gif:
I'm having the exact same problem. Except I'm on windows XP home and I have a 2wire 3800hgv-b router.
You using mcforge? or something else?
I hope someone figures this out, I've done everything I can think of but it isn't working. :dry.gif:
I just want people to be able to come on my server.
sorry if I'm bumping an old thread [?], but this problem hasn't seemed to be solved and I can't find anything anywhere that's worked.
