    That makes no sense.

    It should be either:
    remove (planks, 4)
    or
    remove (wood) > (planks, 4)

If you identify a recipe by the type of input and number of output, you get overlaps, for example
    remove (leather, 1)
would remove all leather armors, because they are made of leather and produce one item.

    ----------
    Different question:
Can you make it so, that a recipe takes over the same damage value? For example
    AnyWood > AnyPlank, 4
or do you have list each one like
    OakWood > OakPlank, 4
    BirchWood > BirchPlank, 4
    etc...

Oh right, I made a typo. It should be remove(planks, 4), it takes the output as the parameter. I've edited my original post now. Also, "-1" means any damage value, if that is what you mean.
    Quote from _ArcticFox_»

Thanks for the help, can you further clarify how I would remove a recipe if there are multiple components involve. Initially I was trying to remove the output (dark matter for this example) but after your post I realized I should try and remove the component aeternalis fuel. So to make one dark matter in the base recipe(the easy one I want to remove) it is 8 aeternalis fuel surrounding a diamond block. I tried both clear (atfuel)[atfuel is the name I have designated in the document] and remove (atfuel, 1)[Since you get one dark matter from crafting] and neither worked. Do I need to add in the diamond block somehow? Thanks for the speedy help and if you'd like to see my document I can share that as well.

Again, I made a typo. You should type remove(output, number of items crafted), so it should be remove(darkmatter) or whatever dark matter is registered as. Sorry about that :)

Is there a way i can view how exactly the items added are named in the "internal dictionary"?

out of pure luck i managed to get a mod item to work without defining it as i apparently used the correct name in the internal dictionary, but any other items (from the same mod) get rejected because i dont know how they are named in the internal dictionary so how do i use items already defined if i dont know their exact "internal" names?

And, any time i attempt to define any mod item it errors on me, with either wrong id or crashes my game on startup

also is it possible for you to add a command to refresh recipes, i have to keep reloading my game, leaving and re entering my world doesnt do it

so if you can do that it will be greatly appreciated and i can imagine it will help alot of people, and can you do it for 1.7.10? alot of my mods i cant update to 1.8, but if thats not possible i guess i got some work to do :)

It gets registered as the display name of the item, without spaces. Wooden pickaxe would be "woodenpickaxe", wood is "wood" and diamond ore is "diamondore". I'll look into what is causing the crashes, and if I can add that command too :)

    Quote from _ArcticFox_»

I am very confused as to how I remove recipes. I want to create more difficult recipes for certain items like dark matter and spaceship parts in my modpack but don't know how to remove the original easy recipes.

Alright, say you want to remove the recipe which makes wood into wooden planks, you would do the following
    " remove (woodenplanks, 4) "

The 4 in this case is the number of items crafted (one wood makes 4 wooden planks).
If you want to remove all recipes that make any number of wooden planks, you would do the following
    " clear (woodenplanks) "

Without the quoutation marks of course. Hope that helps!

    EDIT: Woodenplanks, not wood!

Considering the latest update was for 1.8. Will this next one with the fixes be for 1.7.10? Also which set of meta entering did you mean? Say the first id has no meta do i need to put a ,0 next to it when the next meta of that id is ,1?

Edit: also where does the new items found get recorded? As i am yet to find them in dictionary.txt

Edit2: i tried meta for another mod. Thermal expansion and it worked perfect so its almost like CR doesn't like ironchests... i had one of the items defined that didnt have meta. Worked a few times now all of a sudden no such id in log...no changes were made to my iron chests recipe file before it started erroring at me

As I said, Custom Recipes loads them internally. It does not write it to a file. I'll try to fix it but I'm not sure what is causing it.

    Quote from HeatherRose23»

Hi! I was wondering, would you consider making items used in a recipe take damage instead of being consumed? I don't know if this would make recipes too complicated to use, or if it would involve more redesign than you'd like to take on right now, but it would be wonderful if you could include something like that. As it is, this mod is pretty amazing, but having it expanded in this way sounds even awesomer! :)

Alright, I'll put it on the todo list, but as always, no promises ;)
    Quote from Duke_Anax»

Hi, does this mod also support changing what the worldblocks drop?

Like how you can find saplings and apples in leaves, I wanna do something like that for grass.

If not do you know a mod that does this?

No, and no. Google is your friend :)

Thats all there is to my custom recipes log after it crashes, Edit: Even after after enabling debug mode

The id and meta data i entered is the info that NEI is giving me for that item, also how do i know when i need to add what was it...256 to the number?

edit2: tried adding ,0 to the first entry on my custom dictionary so it now reads:

    # *** CUSTOM DICTIONARY ***
    # Here you can define aliases for mod items and blocks.
    #
    # To prevent confussion: You CAN'T create new blocks and items with this file.
    # They are added by other mods. This file only lets you define aliases for these items.
    #
    # This file will be read right after dictionary.txt to make sure
    # all your following recipes (in other files) can access these aliases.
    #
    # Example alias definition:
    # silmarilShoes = 7859
    # rubyGem = 9958,13 where 9958 is ID, 13 is DAMAGE
    #

    # EE3 definitions

    # Iron Chests Mod
    *ci = 1935,0
    *cg = 1935,1
    *cdi = 1935,2

    STILL erroring

Edit3: so in the case of. And these are the ids im trying to define according to NEI:

    Id 1: 1935

    Id 2: 1935:1

    Id 3: 1935:2

How do i define these as id and meta?

Edit 4: also none of the mod item ids is showing up on the dictionary so i have to define everything. Or, can i simply use the name of the item as it shows in NEI?

edit 5: ive always had trouble with items that have metadata, in the past i have been able to use this mod seamlessly on non meta items, ex: 2250 instead of 2250:2 or something like that

You entered it correctly, I wonder what's causing the error. Yes, it is possible (or should be) to use the names as they show up in NEI, since CR automatically registeres them at every launch internally. Does it work with other items than items from iron chest? Try items (with metadata) from vanilla minercraft and from another mod meanwhile I check the code for errors :)

its just crashed my game heres my log file:

    *cg = 1935,1

and here is the recipe file:

    smelting ci > iron,8
    smelting cg > gold,8

Edit: only crashes on startup after adding anything to the custom dictionary.

If i comment out my custom dictionary my game starts no problem.

Something about the get recipe function throwing a hissy because of something. But doesnt say what the conflict actually is.

Makes it hard when you got over 100 mods to comb through.

    Using MC 1.7.10

Can you send me the custom recipes log too?
The error points me to the part where the metadata of the item is set, are you sure you entered the right number?

I figured out the problem. On and off versions are both called camping:lantern but the ID numbers are 1324/0 and 1324/1. The recipe also picks up on the actual name of the item; not just the ID. The video I watched only said give the ID a name.. not actual coded name..

Edit: Oddly, only those two modded items were affected by name

Suggestions: a current up to date tutorial video? Plus, There is another old mod out there called Recipe mod too and it had the greatest feature. Ingame, a crafting window that allows you to make the recipes

I'll look into creating a video on how to use the mod.

I'm having trouble making a recipe to make nether stars as the draconic evolution mod needs so many. I can't get wither skeleton heads and the unstable ingots to work in the recipe I've tried adding 256 to the unstable ingot item ID but did nothing. Here is what I got in the custom dictionary text file. Oh one more thing for some reason it made 2 recipes when shown in NEI.

    unstableingot=4873 (original ID was 4617)
    witherskull=397,1

This is the recipe. (The netherstarblocks and soulsand work)

    shaped ( witherskull + witherskull + witherskull / netherstarblock + soulsand + netherstarblock / unstableingot + soulsand + unstableingot ) > ( netherstarblock,4 )

and this is the error thing I got

Hello everyone, time for another update. I've been extremely busy with school during the past year, but github user 61352151511 surprised me this morning by updating the mod to Minercraft 1.8.8. I am of course overjoyed because of this, and I thank you all for still being interesting in custom recipes when there are other, more developed, alternatives out there. I love you all <3

    Anyways, here is the changelog:

    • Bump version number to 5.0 for Minecraft 1.8.8, Now uses gradle 2.1
    • Update to Forge 11.15.0.1591
    • Mappings are now on snapshot_20151128
    • Added a new command "/citeminfo" tells you how you would add a dictionary entry for the item your player is holding.
    • The major change that was made was that dictionaries are now defined by
    • modid:itemblockname, meta instead of id,meta. This solves an issue where
adding or removing mods would shuffle item ids and custom recipes would
mess up. The dictionary was rewritten to version 38 to support this.
    • Made possible to run the mod serverside only,

It should take some time for curseforge to verify the file, but then you're good to go! Thanks to 61352151511 for porting the mod to 1.8.8, and to LolHens for making it possible to run the mod serverside only.

I see it says you put in the ability to update the recipes on world load, but I loaded my world after doing something changes and the fixes weren't there. I had to completely relog MC. Did I read that wrong? With a modpack of 220 mods just gets tiresome loading it up all the time lol

It's supposed to work that way at least. Please send me your custom recipes log and your forge log and I'll look into it sometime.

Exactly the same problem as ddteddiebear15. In my case, all the Metallurgy items are invalid for crafting. No interesting errors in the log, just the one indicating that Custom recipes doesn't recognize the item. I was trying to use Tar as a sticky substance for making Throwable Torches.

Please send me your custom recipes log and your forge log and I'll look into it.

Sorry for the inactivity the past year, school has become more intense now and I won't be able to mod much, if at all, in the future.

Aaaaaah! That was NOT apparent from the documentation.

    I'll try that, thanks.

One additional question: Is there a way to get the mod to list recipes? It would be REALLY useful if there were an option to make it dump existing recipes. For example: list (stairs) to show all existing stair recipes, so that you knew exactly what recipes you needed to replace.

Alright alright, the op is 3 years old so I'll guess I'll rewrite it at some point :P.

I'm not sure what you want to use that list for, there are plenty of third party tools such as NEI that allows you to do that easily. Writing list (stairs) doesn't make sense to me, why would you want to do that in the recipe file? A command, or GUI based such as Not enough items is far easier. It would take too much time to implement it at this point, sadly.

Hmm, that is actually the case. Just checked the code, it's written to replace colons with commas. I wonder why MightyPork (the founder and previous maintainer of the mod) intended to do there, but I will change it. In the meantime, use regular ids, or the display name as I wrote before, for example, "minecraft:leather" would be "leather". That works with all registered items.

None of them showed up in NEI and are not craftable.

I have tried used in-game names, as asked before, of modded items. It did not seem to work for me.

    Example: A charge from Lycanite's
    arcaneLaserStorm = mountainmobs:arcanelaserstormcharge

The mod does not seem to recognize it when I do it like that.
Do I have to put "mountainmobs:arcanelaserstormcharge" in the actual recipe?

Another note: How do I make it where buckets are consumed in the recipe? So they do not duplicate when crafting another bucketed liquid?

Make sure you have the asterix, like this:
    *arcaneLaserStorm = mountainmobs:arcanelasercharge
It should work, custom recipes searches through all registered items and registeres them by their display name, lower or upper cased, but stick to one of them. Make sure you spelled it exactly as it shows up in game, and don't include any spaces.

Please send me your log if you have any further issue. And no, you can't do that sadly.

I want to do a request:

A option do use the "remove" on a specific recipe OR a option to replace a specific recipe . Example: I want remove/replace the recipe that 9 iron nuggets > Iron Ingot and add the 4 nuggets > Iron bar but without remove the other recipes that the output is a Iron Bar too.

There is a way to do this at the moment?

    Tks for the attention.

Oh, I did not think about that. I'll fix it in the upcoming patch.
