I'm sorry, but until Mojang really modifies villages and add some common-sense things to villages, this is just moving things to different places

Boats being slow is kinda a bug Dinnerbone mentioned. He's working on making them faster. -

They have been working on this update for almost a year. I would think that it is mostly-complete and ready to be tested by the public.
After 1.8, they focused more on 1.8 fixes and not 1.9

There is STILL no snapshot? What is Mojang doing with 1.9 that is delaying the release this much?
I think that they are going to release the new 1.9 snapshot the same day Windows 10 is released. That, or it could be Microsoft pressuring Mojang to not release snapshots anymore.
That's because the bigger the update is, the longer it takes to get a snapshot. Also Dinnerbone confirmed that snapshots weren't being stopped and would continue

I doubt they would release 1.9 at Minecon. I think they would release the first snapshot for 1.9 and release 1.9 either at the end of this year or beginning of next year.

I agree with saddles and maybe horse armor, but that's it. Some of this stuff was not intended to be craftable. It's not a cop out to encourage exploration to find some items.
I'd also throw in nametags.

Might wanna make sure your CPU isn't bogged down with a bunch of other tasks it's doing. Open task manager while Minecraft is open and make sure nothing is using too much CPU

I think survival Minecraft is fine the way it is. It seems to be a good balance of luck (the seed you use) and skill. They've also added elements in recent updates that add more challenging/strategic elements to the game, such as pillagers, phantoms, crossbows, etc. Even if it didn't seem good enough, I think survival is making good progress anyway, and I don't think these ideas are necessary
10% support (because you put at least a little thought into it)

I know you can't do it now. I mean that it wouldn't make sense to add it because placing "dust" vertically doesn't make sense because well, it's dust.

I don't think you understand what I mean. Redstone dust is dust. Last I checked, you can't put dust vertically. Take some dust from around your house and try it. You can't do it.

Well the current bed system where it doesn't skip the night unless everyone is sleeping makes sense, some players might want to do stuff during the night, and if the time reset any time someone slept, they might not be able to. The system essentially makes sure everyone is okay with resetting the time. It's a great system in theory, but there are problems like you mentioned that can't logically be rectified.

Yeah, it's possible to do, which is how they added waterlogging. Here's the deal, waterlogging wasn't as difficult as I first imagined, they just added a tag to the waterloggable blocks. The difference with dust is that it's a whole different block, and placing 2 blocks in a one block space doesn't exactly work. Possible, but really not worth it.
You also never answered my question. How do you justify placing DUST vertically?
0
There's not many things that can be placed under top half slabs because it's not easy to do. From what I understand, the waterlogging feature was also a pain to add.
How would you justify being able to place "dust" vertically?

Making a bed is pretty easy, I agree (except when they made the colored beds, I hate that you have to have 3 matching wool now), but the reason I had this idea is because of playing on multiplayer worlds, where it's not always feasible to drop everything and have everyone go to sleep.

I guess the simplest explanation is that if redstone dust is dust, how would it stay in place going vertically? Now I know most of Minecraft doesn't follow gravity, but I feel like this is one of those exceptions.
Either way, you can already go vertically pretty easily using slabs, it just requires a 2 block wide space rather than the 1 block you're proposing.

The Minecraft day should be adjustable in length.
I know for some, the current daylight cycle is perfect, but I have noticed that at times it feels too short. Only 10 minutes of daylight doesn't allow me to get much done before having to go to bed again, which is especially annoying on multiplayer worlds.
My proposal to solve this is to add a new gamerule called totalDayTicks. It would have a default value of 24000 which is the amount of ticks in a standard Minecraft day, and this could be adjusted to make the days shorter or longer.
You might be wondering how this will affect how long daytime and nighttime lasts. The way I think it could work is the length of day and night would be proportional using the lengths in the 24000 tick day. For example, if you made the day 48000 ticks, the lengths of day and night would be doubled.

I'm not entirely sure. The only real advantage I see is the cooking twice as fast, which seems kind of OP. You say it can only be used in the nether to try and counteract that, but at that point, one could easily have an accessible portal, and just go to the nether whenever they need to smelt.

1: My texture was really just the most basic idea that came into my head. Thinking about it now, you're right, it probably makes more sense to make the redstone be covered in a gold sleeve-like item that is about as thick as snow.
2: Tying in to my first response, the sleeve like item would protect the dust from being washed away
3: There could easily be a provision saying that the gold plating follows gravity laws similar to sand or gravel, except if there's a bunch of air underneath, the plating would kind of hang from the plating that does have a block underneath
4: I already changed this

Yeah, I overlooked that. Fixed.

Gold. A mostly useless item. You really don't need clocks, and you only need so many powered rails.
What if there was a way we could make gold useful, provide a good reason to obtain it?
I present to you, gold-plated redstone.
In its current form, redstone is quite fragile and unprotected. Water can destroy it, it easily can be exploded, and any player who wanted could come by and break a piece (or multiple pieces) of redstone from one of your builds in a split second, potentially damaging it.
The solution to this problem? Right click a piece of redstone with a gold nugget. It becomes gold-plated, with a different texture that has a slight golden tint. Gold-plated redstone has a higher blast resistance than normal redstone, Also, water cannot destroy it, instead, it flows over it without causing damage. Finally, gold-plated redstone cannot be broken without at least an Iron Pickaxe. This gives us a simple way to protect our redstone builds.
I did attach my attempt to make a concept image for what a piece of gold-plated redstone dust might look like. (Please excuse my image editing skills (or a lack thereof))
