posted a message on Ugh..small world is intolerable

Unfortunately I don't think 4J have any intentions of increasing the world sizes on last gen consoles. As for technical issues, this is easily identified by comparing the draw distance on the Xbox 360 to Xbox One; you can see significantly further on Xbox One and you don't see chunks being rendered at all. I had insane lag with my Xbox 360 worlds when I had any sizable amount of redstone operating, and even a large cluster of signs and item frames would cause the frame rate to chug.

Since moving across to the Xbox One, this hasn't been a problem, so it's easy to see how technical restrictions are stunting the expansion of the game on last gen consoles.

posted a message on Why doesn't it snow anymore?

I've had this before in the past after an update, and the only explanation I could find was that sometimes the biomes switch weather types. I had a world where I established a large base well away from snow because it's a pain to deal with and I think it makes things look messy. After an update I went back on and the first time the weather effect began, it started snowing.

It may have something to do with how they've tweaked the weather effects, where it will begin to snow in some non-snowy biomes at a certain height, but rain below that height.

To check if you have classic crafting on, go to the options menu, and select user interface. About halfway down, there should be a tick box besides "classic crafting"; if it's ticked, untick it, if it's not ticked, you may have to revert your control scheme to default.

I can't believe this was ever an issue; they've always clucked like chickens, and never acted like ducks at all. The only way issues would arise if someone played with a texture pack and got confused...

    posted a message on spawners

The closest we'll ever get to mods is if 4J release console-unique content for Minecraft that hasn't/won't appear on the PC, which they hinted at being a possibility a long time ago.

    posted a message on spawners

We already have mob spawners, unless you're referring to ones that can spawn anything, in which case I doubt it otherwise we'd have it by now. I think the PC version only has them because of how items are spawned in through specific item/block IDs.

I doubt we'll ever have mods because it violates Microsoft's terms and conditions on console and save data usage.

How about... sideways half slabs? that would double as this.

To be honest I'd support this too, but not as a replacement to the issue posed by the OP. I've always wanted to use half slabs vertically - as well redstone for that matter - but this is not the occasion I'd use it for.

posted a message on Blocks for building structure walls

I support this! Many times I've wanted to build a realistic looking house with bricks, but have wallpaper (effect) or plaster or wood interior for the walls, so the only way around it was to just double up the wall. While this solves one problem, it creates another in the form of significantly recessed windows and doors, as well as making the interior 2 blocks smaller on both the X and Z axis.

I would honestly settle for something like a painting item that can be crafted to take the form of any colour or other block design that you apply to walls, but acts like an item frame where you can place stuff on top of it as if it were a normal block surface.

In some PC mod packs I've seen this remedied by the use of a paintbrush item which allows you to essentially paint a block with whatever colour you like block by block, but it can only be removed by a specific item such as a squeegee. This would allow for easy and fast decorating of interior walls, however it would rather limit the palette of designs you could have if it were only available in base colours, and not block designs as well.

Chunkbase worked for me as far as the slime goes. Found two chunks close together near my base, dig the chunks out 3 high about 5 blocks above bedrock, and they spawn like crazy. Chunkbase doesn't seem to be working for other stuff for me, however.

I can't say if the rest of the Chunkbase apps work as I only use the slime chunk finder. After trying several plots that Chunkbase had identified as slime chunks and coming up empty, I tried UpUp_Away95's idea which worked for me; I now have a slime farm several layers tall on a single slime chunk, and it produces TONS of slimes!

so true...finding mob spawners now is like winning the lottery 5x in a row...its just not possible.

"like winning the lottery 5x in a row"... "its just not possible"...

Those two statements don't really go together... The latter talks of impossibilities, whilst the former concerns statistical probabilities, of which your example is probable. While the statistical probability of winning the lottery 5 times in a row is immensely low, the reality is that you've got the same chance every time, provided the odds don't change. The same applies here as a single event of finding a dungeon again is not dependent on the previous result, and therefore is not statistically linked.

Getting back to Minecraft, the odds of finding a dungeon are significantly better than winning the lottery, especially if you play the game instead of complaining about missing features. The only advice I can give is to mine until you reach a cave system and just follow that around. Time and time again I have stumbled across multiple dungeons far apart but linked by he same extensive cave system. By trying to avoid exploring caves and therefore finding dungeons, you're avoiding the main idea of PLAYING the game... If it bothers you that much, play in creative and just randomly mine around until you discover one, then save and quit, switch over to survival and play from there.

Hmm... Maybe a stupid question, is the world from the current TU31 update? Biomes could have shifted potentially if not. Was the moon full, half? Night, day?

I know the night/day question sounds stupid, but if you fly as high as possible in creative at night, you can still see the sun below you... So I wondered if they could spawn in the day, in total darkness, under the right phase of the moon.

Nope, the world was a fresh build when the new update rolled out. I mainly skip nights unless the moon is 3/4 full or more, otherwise the chance of them spawning drops significantly.

Chunkbase hasn't worked well for me for quite some time. What I do is create a duplicate of the same seed as a superflat. Then I go into peaceful creative mode and fly to the general area where I'm thinking of putting in a slime farm and fence off the area into individual "chunk-sized" corrals. Once I've got the fences in place, I save and exit and switch out of peaceful... and then note in which of the corrals the slimes spawn (since they're fenced, the slimes can't move from chunk to chunk). Once you've noted the coordinates of the "active" corrals, just go into your original world and build your farm. It's a little slower than Chunkbase... but much quicker than building a farm
and then finding out Chunkbase was in error.

I think I'll try this, as it's likely faster then waiting for slimes to spawn above ground in a swamp biome.

I hear you for sure. I'm going to try and build a slime farm soon in the swamplands of my world and see if that helps. I wonder if the game factors what stage the moon is in when the sun is up...? If so, a closed off slime farm that's completely dark inside might work during the day. Idk... Worth investigating I guess!

I've just had another look at the Minecraft wiki, and it seems that slimes in swampland biomes only spawn at light level 7 and below, so that was an error on my part. Just built a large cobblestone structure with a 5 high ceiling, and I've lit up the top on the outside to limit other hostile mob spawns. So far... bupkiss!

I usually make sure I have some swampland in my world an just use that for slimes. Otherwise, trying to find, or calculate coordinates for slime chunks elsewhere is too much work!

I have a small swampland biome close to me, but it barely ever spawns slimes - I'm aware they have a greater chance of spawning the more full the moon is. It's fully illuminated from nearby redstone lamps, which I have control over, and all nearby caves and open spaces have either been filled in or lit up.

Relying on the slime chunk finder app on Chunkbase may have been my downfall, as I've never really felt the need to find slimes any other way. Hope they update it soon...

posted a message on Anyone Know An Updated Slime Chunk Finder App?

Ever since the latest update, the slime chunk finder I used to use on Chunkbase has stopped providing reliable locations for slime chunks. Looking at the website itself, it seems it hasn't been updated for a while, even before the latest update.

Can anyone point me in the direction of a slime chunk finder app that works with the current version of MCCE Xbox One, or the formula that is used to calculate chunks. I have seen the randomiser function on the Wiki page, but that hasn't really helped me out. I was under the assumption that there's a formula you can plug your seed, and coordinates into to work it out for yourself, but I may be wrong...

posted a message on Several Simple Awesome Feature Ideas

I'm going to be as succinct as I can be with each of these points, stating whether I am for or against them.

    1. We already have those. Be more specific...
    2. Why? What purpose would they serve? Be more specific...
    3. This would likely be very difficult to implement and be prone to exploits and glitches, as well as potentialyl game-breaking bugs. No support
    4. If this means what I think it means, it would open an entire area of exploiting the game, however... Be more specific...
    5. Why is this an issue...? Be more specific...
    6. We already have all enchanted books available in the creative inventory. You can't expect to have EVERY combination of compatible enchantments of every level in the menu... Unreasonable.
    7. You can remove an item from an item frame already without removing the item frame by simply clicking with LT. Be more specific...
    8. Why...? What would this be used for that adventure mode wouldn't already cover...? Be more specific...
    9. Yes! I actually agree with this one, especially for games that have multiple players at once. Although I think it should be a mode you choose before entering the game, not something you can freely switch from on the fly.
    10. Possibly. I can see some benefits, but they're suited to my subjective needs on my survival and creative worlds. What would you suggest this feature would add to the game? Be more specific...

Overall, most of - if not all - your ideas need considerably more detail as it is a little difficult to determine what you mean from a single sentence. Flesh out your ideas more so people can answer the poll more informed then they are now.
