Jan 29, 2013Suho1004 posted a message on Minecraft Monday Show - Murdering Chickens For YOU!Whether BebopVox is funny is a matter of opinion. I think he is not nearly as funny as he thinks he is--in fact, I don't think he is funny at all. But I am willing to recognize that some people may find him amusing. That's fine. What is not opinion, though, is that he does not articulate nearly well enough to be talking at that speed. He often trips over his tongue and just stumble-mumbles through his lines. If he were serious about making Minecraft Monday a better show, he would put more effort into articulation than visual and other effects.Posted in: News
(OK, so the part about articulation being more important than visual effects is opinion--but it is an objective fact that he does not articulate very well, and that honestly annoys me more than his subjectively not being funny.)
That being said, I still watch the videos, because--in spite of the flaws--he still provides some interesting Minecraft info. -

I presume that you are referring to the "F-bomb" in the middle of the interview with Notch? Perhaps you needed to be made aware that the audience for that interview was adult in a very adult context. It wasn't a whole bunch of foul language, but there were some mature topics being discussed and perhaps some loose tongues that could have been kept under control a bit more... but it also the kind of talk that I've heard even in a professional workplace environment. In other words, an adult conversation. I'm not excusing the language or behavior, but it does happen and you need to be prepared for that kind of talk when it happens.
I believe Joe was talking about the mod review by TheGamersCave, which was in fact chock full of foul language. I'm an adult with no kids, so I wasn't necessarily offended or worried by it... but I did find it extremely puerile. To be blunt, it sounded like a young kid trying to be cool, which isn't really all that cool. Not everything has to be f'ing this and f'ing that. And we can do without the masturbation jokes. Not anywhere near an "adult conversation." Or at least not a mature one.
So I think Joe was completely justified in his complaint--that video was definitely not kid-friendly. -

It just looked like a bunch of things happening with no relation to each other. A single cut would have been nice if possible, or at least a little more continuity.Posted in: News

On the other hand... rainhater's rant notwithstanding, the search function isn't all that hard to use. Just search for "killer rabbit" on this forum and you'll get half a dozen threads above the fold that would have answered your question without the need to make a new thread. Seriously, give it a shot and you'll see. I don't understand what's so rubbish about it. No need to go to Google or YouTube or anywhere else. (Although, in this case, Google does have the answer as well.)
I do not think the two points above are mutually exclusive.

No apologies necessary. We'll survive another day without the texturepack (I mean "resourcepack"), but that bird wouldn't have survived another day without you.

I haven't seen anyone comment on this yet, so I thought it was worth saying....
You guys do realize that the votes are for inclusion on the list, right? The poll says, "Should (person) be on this list?" That's all they want to know. Presumably they take this information into account when making their selection, but the best case scenario is that the editors take the top 100 from the poll and then arrange them in the order they feel appropriate.
I mean... you didn't really think they were just going to let a bunch of people on the internet decide the order of their list, did you?

Yeah, but you would have to make sure to multiply them. Just adding them together would leave us with even more negativity.

I think you might be confusing "quasi-" with "pseudo-." The latter means "false," while the former means "resembling" or "almost." "Pseudoconnectivity" would be connectivity that is fake or not real--that is, not actually connectivity at all. "Quasiconnectivity" would be something that seems to be connectivity but isn't--or is not quite--connectivity. The truth is that there is some overlap in common usage, and it generally boils down to your intentions. For example, if you call someone a "pseudo-friend," you might have thought at one point that this person was a friend and later found out that he or she was not really a friend. On the other hand, a "quasi-friend," might be someone who is in that gray area between "acquaintance" and "actual friend."
Your intention here seems to be to point out that this is not real connectivity, so I would probably go with "pseudoconnectivity." If "quasiconnectivity" is really what you're after, though, I would change the parenthetical to "resembling connectivity" instead.

While I appreciate your efforts, I think polls are generally more effective when they do not try to browbeat people into voting a certain way.
As for my opinion on bonemeal, well, I've never actually used bonemeal on wheat. On my first day in a new SSP world, I generally live off of animal products while I wait for my wheat to grow. Then, once I have a wheat farm of a given size, I switch over to an all-bread diet, supplemented with melons if I can find the seeds. But I've never seen the need to use bonemeal on wheat, so I don't really have an opinion on the matter. Both the idea of an AoE bonemeal and bonemeal acting differently when used in a dispenser seem reasonable, though.
These days, on our SMP server, what I mostly use bonemeal for is growing trees, as I am building a project that requires a lot of wood on a small island with few trees. Two bonemeal for a tree does not seem unreasonable.

True enough.
Indeed.

I'm not trying to make any sort of point--if by "point" you mean "implying that you are stupid" or something. That was not my intention at all, and I tried to couch my comment in as mild language as I could manage. I was just confused.
This was the cause of my confusion--I did read the initial post, but you didn't specifically say that you could do all those other things. I'm not trying to split hairs here, just trying to explain why I was confused. Like you, I don't think it ever would have occurred to me that eating could somehow be different from placing blocks, etc. I had always just assumed it was another instance of "using" an item. I just wasn't able to properly process the information.
No, I don't think you are stupid. Apparently the wording of my comment tripped some wires, but that was not what I was trying to do. Given the circumstances, I imagine I would have been banging my head against the keyboard as well.
At any rate, I'm glad the problem has been worked out, and hopefully you can get a long-term solution in place soon.

(Really, not trying to be a jerk here... just a bit confused and curious.)

Spaceboot's point is not that the functionality is not desirable, but that we could have incorporated that functionality into an existing block instead of creating an entirely new block for it.
I kind of agree. It definitely would have been simpler to have a toggle in the dispenser GUI, but if the dispenser functionality is in fact going to be changed significantly, like MumblesMiner said above, then perhaps having two blocks is warranted. I think we'll have to wait and see what happens.
