I actually think that change makes sense. Cows have always dropped at least one piece of raw beef, haven't they? Why shouldn't pigs also drop pork? Why shouldn't pigs drop at least 1 pork each time you kill them?
I was going to say, "balance," but according to the wiki, Steak recovers just as much hunger points as a Cooked Pork Chop does. Then again, with sense, if you kill a cow or pig, they don't completely disintegrate without a carcass.

E: Fixed it by removing the RedPower NEI plugin from the /mods folder.

Lucky. You at least have a job. That's a feat, seeing as the graduate hiring ratio is only about 1:2.
On another note, it'd be cool if someone else competent was able to port this to SMP once it's updated. I'm shocked no one able to has really offered yet. Plus a bug: It's more visual, but the supports and the balloon aren't centered to each other.

The tornado was heading towards the village. It was not veering off of its course, as it was known as it was tearing through the melon patch. After gathering my quaesitum, seeds, and boat, I high-tail it out of there. One step out of the door and WHOOSH! I was in the center of the vortex before I could close my nonexistent door. The fall was lethal, needless to say.

Good point. Why isn't there a Curative enchant in vanilla? That would greatly help in SMP, with comrades who get hurt easily. But instead of a fixed healing count based on enchant level, why not make this heal based on the damage a sword does, with gold healing the most, and like always, breaking the fastest.

Whoo. I just hope this carpet doesn't require vis, 'cause I have a long ocean to cross.

Sheesh, balance is a better excuse than roleplaying for each world. And yes, I know the consequences of Hardcore mode, hence why I do it. This research feels like DRM at times.

What about playing Hardcore mode and dying, forcing you to research all over again, despite knowing the recipes that you've already used?

@OP: Playfully pointing an arrow at one? I'd be attacking you, too, if you pointed an arrow at me.

I say lapis lazuli has to go. Or at least be even rarer than diamonds. Never can find those buggers. Since sheep can regrow dyed wool now, all it takes is one splash of the lazuli and have an infinite supply of blue wool. There isn't even any other use for dyes besides the lapis lazuli block, and that...I seriously haven't even seen it used since the beta days.. We can replace lapis lazuli with an indigo plant in jungles or something.
