If you're using an ATI card, download the latest beta drivers and install them.
I officially hate ATI, now. My card just took a crap after owning it for less than a year, Minecraft now stutters so badly that 60 fps looks like 20. My lag-o-meter (F3) has gaps and huge spikes in it... I'm pretty frustrated. 90% of the problems that people encounter with this mod is due to using an ATI graphics card. Development is going to be much more difficult for me like this... Thanks, ATI. This isn't just an opinion that I've formed recently, it's been growing over the past 4 years and finally I'm fed up!!!
If you have an AMD 7xxx series card, it is because of the current driver for those video cards. It will be fixed in the next driver update which should be any day now. If you have a different video card i don't know :S
I've been working pretty hard on v09 lately and I've fixed a lot of bugs. I improved SSAO image quality, fixed most of strange block coloring errors, and heavily adjusted the godrays shader. I'm almost ready to officially activate the godrays shader for you guys to test out. Keep checking back for updates. I'm constantly making efforts to improve this mod. I appreciate your patience!
EDIT: Here are some screenshots of an exaggerated version of the current godrays effect. It looks much better than before and has a fraction of the performance impact.
It's like Garry's Mod 13 now (sun rays, improved shadows, frame blending).
Maybe for more advanced tutorials, but it doesn't change as much as you might thing, most basic tutorials should work regardless, and use eclipse to help catch errors
also a good idea is to just learn java in general (also tutorials on youtube)
When I try to use eclipse, it just doesn't open at all.
Quote from Eclipse »
Failed to load the JNI shared library "C:\eclipse\jre\bin\client\nvm.dll".
search on youtube "Minecraft Modding Tutorial" and I'm sure you can find something
But the problem is. The Minecraft code is going to change over time and when the tutorial is from one version and many code edits come and you try to follow that tutorial, you'll have lots of errors.

Stop talking about the mod having the transparent blocks being non-transparent.

It's called motion blur. It's built into the mod. It's very annoying. You can find a tutorial on how to hide the blur.
