Awesome! I rate this :DORE: out of :DORE:

IGN should adopt your rating system, I recommend you copyright it before someone realizes what an amazing system that is. :P

I can think of at least one example on the front page right now that would benefit from reading a guide on how to make better threads. I'd give a link but I'm not sure what the rules say about giving examples of terrible threads. <--- I often go off the assumption that if it doesn't specifically address the idea it should be fine.
I've seen plenty of ideas that could be good/better, if the author know a bit about game balance, or just formatting a post.

Knowing a bit about game balance seems like something that can't be explained in a guide, your going to have to play the game for hours and learn the mechanics if you really want to be good at that. Formatting a post on the other hand... This forum can make that difficult at times...

At least an experienced user can link to that guide if it exists.
Let's say only 50% of all users who get it linked will actually click that link and read the guide, and only 1/10 of those will actually follow it and try to improve their threads. That's still 5% of new users who stop producing rubbish suggestions with no value whatsoever.

How bad or broken must a thread be to need a link to the guide? I agree that little under nought to no harm can be done with a guide, but I think the majority of bad threads you'll see aren't going to be fixed by a guide. In my experience a lot of the issues I've seen with threads is non-natives with botched grammar or translation, getting bashed simply for being foreign, that's an issue that a guide won't fix.

So are you working on NY City before the towers collapsed? or what's the plan, I like the way this could be headed.

Trust me when I say that a guide is needed. The only thing people need more than artistic freedom is constraint.

Still, if the majority of new posters don't even acknowledge that a guide exist, and often quite hastily done, what good is a guide to people that would've thought out suggestions anyways?

This is actually pretty interesting. There are a surprising number of people with thousands of posts who apparently haven't been on in years.

I managed to find myself on page 18. I shudder to imagine posting more than eight times as much (while still doing a good job contributing) and becoming number one poster.

You gave me the idea of looking for myself on this list, currently page 27, looks like it'll go up. While it makes me realize that I'm quite active (although nowadays I just lurk in random sections), I'm also not that special as there are quite a few people around with this many posts which are neck-in-neck with each other.

I actually like the guide, never felt a guide was needed but I still think it'll improve the overall quality of 0.5% of Newbies suggestions.
