Oct 3, 2011Fact 1: I use an awful lot of smoothstone/half blocks/stuff that needs to be forged.Posted in: Survival Mode
Fact 2: I always seem to be chronically short of wood.
Fact 3: coal is a relatively easy-to find resource.
By the power of these facts combined. I am a coal fan. I can't get enough of the black stuff. In fact. I'm jonesing for some coal right now.
Oct 3, 2011I love your creations, It's one of the most unique mansions I've seen thus far. You're very good with the gentle circular contours. The outside looks fantastic.Posted in: Screenshots
It's very difficult to see due to the rain, but have you considered adding a waterfall or two for dramatic effect? :smile.gif:
Oct 3, 2011I once tried to open a chest while holding a bucket of lava. I opened the chest, but also tipped lava all over the floor. It didn't help that the entrance to my mine was directly below me at the time. This was the result:Posted in: Discussion
Luckily, it occurred to me to tip water over the top, meaning that I had a load more stone to mine, and a nice new staircase to boot.

This was a really long time ago. It was part of a project to recreate Hell in minecraft. Now that beta has a creative mode I am thinking of trying that again.
Sort-of based on Dante's inferno? Don't forget the road of bare asses.
I once built a gigantic fortress. It took a very, very long time. I'm so gutted that I lost the save....
And of course, there's the obligatory diamond pyramid. I
built this totally legit/gave myself the materials on a multiplayer server.
Sep 30, 2011I might have to move my grave at some point, I'd quite like to turn the gravesite into a churchyard in one of the later stages, and there's currently not enough space for the (no doubt magnificent) church that I want to build nearby (and of course, there's a huge crater too - damn that sneaky creeper). :biggrin.gif:Posted in: Survival Mode
Hopefully I'll get a chance to advance to stage 2 at the weekend. I've met all the prerequisites, but I'd like to add a 2nd floor to my house.

This is the site for the (in the future) proud city of Vetrheim
My Humble abode & farm, almost complete. I still want to add a 2nd storey.
Unfortunately the endeavour was not without tragic fatalities. My ingame name is Aurelian.
Sep 27, 2011This is a great challenge. Imposes enough criteria and guidelines to make for a really interesting and involved journey, yet leaves enough flexibility to let you express yourself with your buildings.Posted in: Survival Mode
Thanks for the great idea OP, I'll probably start this over the next few days. I won't have a huge amount of time on my hands - but I may well put some status updates up.
Sep 22, 2011Soluxis posted a message on Emily's guide to aesthetically pleasing home (Updating soon!)Nice guide. It certainly seems like you have a creative flair for simple yet effective house designs (and not-so-simple ones too!).Posted in: Screenshots
I tend to just start building with only a vague idea in mind, my buildings then tend to morph a lot before they're done. Experimentation is key, I think :smile.gif:
This is my latest build, a viking-style longhouse. Originally it was just going to be a large wood cabin-type thing, then (after visiting a local museum) I thought how cool it'd be if I viking'd it up by about 50%.
