Ah, I asked the question you did not understand. I'll explain it a bit. I was talking about how the backend and website development is a thankless job. Unlike Jeb and Notch, they only get contacted when stuff breaks, hardly anybody notices how much work they actually do.
This "lack of fame", however, does allow them to have a more useful and honest interaction with community members, they don't immediatly get swarmed by everybody when they post stuff on twitter or something.
I asked how valuable this direct user feedback was to them, and whether or not they may want a bit more fame themselves.
In this wonderful season it's great to bring the Minecraft community closer together! I already did this in 2009, with my project called the Christmachinima. In this, players of Minecraft would sing lines of a Christmas song! Due to some delays and troubles, I couldn't release it in time, so I finished and released it a year later, in 2010. I even got Notch and ez to sing in it! You can see the result here:
The singers may sound a bit silly, but at least everyone had fun participating!
Now, for this year, I want to do it again! I have once again selected a Christmas song. This time it's: John Lennon - Happy XMas
If you don't know the song, here is it:
Since users will be singing the vocals of the song, I have a karaoke version to which I will add the sung lines. You can use it to time your singing. This is the karaoke version:
Now, the song has 40 lines, so the most ideal situation is if 40 different people submit a single line each. The lines of the songs are:
01 - So this is Xmas
02 - And what have you done?
03 - Another year over
04 - And a new one just begun
05 - And so this is Xmas
06 - I hope you have fun 07 - The near and the dear one - Rlack
08 - The old and the young
09 - A very Merry Xmas
10 - And a happy New Year
11 - Let's hope it's a good one
12 - Without any fear
13 - And so this is Xmas
14 - For weak and for strong
15 - For rich and the poor ones
16 - The world is so wrong
17 - And so happy Xmas
18 - For black and for white
19 - For yellow and red ones
20 - Let's stop all the fight
21 - A very Merry Xmas
22 - And a happy New Year
23 - Let's hope it's a good one
24 - Without any fear
25 - And so this is Xmas
26 - And what have we done?
27 - Another year over
28 - A new one just begun
29 - And so happy Xmas
30 - We hope you have fun
31 - The near and the dear one
32 - The old and the young
33 - A very Merry Xmas
34 - And a happy New Year
35 - Let's hope it's a good one
36 - Without any fear
37 - War is over
38 - If you want it
39 - War is over
40 - Now
So, if you're wondering how you can participate, it's very easy. All you have to do is record yourself singing a line. You can pick any line you want, but be careful, you might pick a line that someone else has already picked! So, be sure to check the thread!
Anyway, if you have recorded your line, save it as a .WAV, .MP3, .FLAC, .VMA, anything you like, really. Then just upload the file somewhere. I recommend using MediaFire or DropBox, they're free! Then just post your link in this thread, along with what line it is!
Or if you're too shy to put it here, just PM me it, or email me it, my email is [email protected].
I will try and keep the first post update with which lines have already been submitted.
When all lines have been submitted, I will put together the video and create a single song of it!
It could be great if http://quatroworld.org/ could be whitelisted. It contains my skins and Quatroking's comics, which are often posted here on the forums.
The text on that icon isn't readable. Have you even looked at it? That is so obvious that you should've seen it while you were making it. Learn something about colour contrast before making anything graphical. Anyway, the icon is rather bland. Just a cropped image of a space marine with some text on it in a default font. Nothing really special.
This is my texturepack that I made for the Webhallen competition (I sadly didn't win, though!) I remade all of the textures of the skinpack from scratch, trying to create a brand new look, while still trying to keep the look close to the original feel of Minecraft. Enjoy it!
All credit goes to me, Snowman. If you want to use any of this texturepack for personal use, it is fine by me. Just give me credit and let me know. :biggrin.gif:
It is very cumbersome to use standard forums on a mobile browser. Yes you can do it, yes everything works fine, but it's not efficient. You will have to zoom in and not only scroll up and down, but left and right as well most of the time. A mobile layout for the forum would make it orders of magnitude easier to navigate. It won't be a different forum, just an alternate layout for this one that is designed around a phone screen (portrait) and not a computer screen (landscape).
I don't have to zoom or scroll left or right at all. The entire forums are displayed just fine, and I just have to scroll down. It might be because my display is 800x480 though.
The forums work just great on Android, they display everything like it should and posting works just like on a computer. The only thing that doesn't work are the scrollbars in signatures, but that's just a very minor problem.
Btw, this post is made from my Android phone, a HTC Desire, using the standard Android browser.

Btw, it's Emperor not Emeror.
Idea of the pack sounds cool though.
