So, the last couple of days, my server excperiencing down times.
First, i thought its a problem with my host. But just now, my host support team emailed me and said my server was DDoS attacked 6 times.
I'm pretty sure it was caused by players conflict. Me, personally, never had any conflict with any of my player. It could be one of my staff, im still solving this out.
About the DDoS, i'm pretty sure it is illegal, and how can i report the attack ?

It's not as black and white as you put it. Wish it were, that would make life simpler. But finding the root cause of a DOS attack is a bit complicated considering the amount of false positives you could find. If you're behind a router check the incoming log. But you'll have fun sorting through IP address' Sometimes people give up on their own or get bored. Personally, if a single IP is attacking you (unlikely but 50% chance) block it. Or use a different port to run things..

Port scanning identifies what ports are open to the targeted machine, the OS, and potentially what firewall if certain variables are present so to you calling me retarded because an open port does nothing I'd suggest you find a better google search result to get your info from
I can tell your a windowsfag so in my next question I'll be using the term "terminal service" instead of "telnet"
When does the average user use terminal services?
If said user does use them how often would they be set to allow traffic from outside of the network?
also terminal services require login, so you'd have to find an exploit unless this person has a login with no password.
(please note I use "THE AVERAGE USER" like a minecraft player)

I'm amazed at the stupidity of children these days getting all angsty over things that aren't going to matter to them in five years when they hit puberty. Posting any personal information online can get you tracked down IP or not.
With an IP alls you have to do it port scan since most of you run servers 25565 would be open and do ya dirty from there or just POD that IP xD infect the computer with a trojan doesn't matter what operating system you run if the virus can spread it will spread
Soooo the ****tricity influx has boggled my into asking if anyone can suggest a half way semi decent smp server that doesnt change maps every other day or have overbearing admins and ****wit players? I mean...some servers are good but they become overbearing with all the rules and regulations for "RP" servers makes my boy spirit die a little. Of course the only way to combat that is to run a server myself but why add another entry to the list when someone else might be offering what I want..so anyways suggest away!
