Uh, lol. This guy blatantly copied several of your patterns only changing the colors on some textures. I mean, he clearly loves your work, but he doesn't even have the word 'Sine' in any of his posts.

I looked at that pack again, and it does seem like he used some of my designs as a base for his pack. But, if you scroll down to the Credits section and look at the spoiler, you'll see this:

    • SineCraft, for the original idea of the pack.

    Works for me :D

    SineCraft v2.2 - 7.15.2015

With this release, skins for all the regular sets of armor (not including Chainmail) have been added. That's all for now!

    SineCraft v2.1 - 7.14.2015

This release brings some minor changes and fixes a small oversight. As for changes, I have modified the designs of the iron bars, both trapdoors, and all of the dyes (thanks go to xiondisc for the suggestions.) Additionally, the fire particle effect was larger and redder than it should have been; this was an oversight and it has been toned down a bit.

The next release will likely be a major update. I still haven't provided a GUI for whatever the beacon is. I've also began working on mob skins, but I currently only have the Ocelots done. The work is slow and I'd like to finish at least most of them before doing another release so I wouldn't expect it to come quickly. After mobs, I plan to at least do the armor, but I wouldn't hold out for paintings. If anyone would like to help me with paintings, mobs, armor, or any other 3D things that I'm not great at skinning, I would very gladly accept!

After mobs and armor are complete I will obviously continue to update SineCraft for any new Minecraft builds. However, the primary focus will likely shift to mod packs. At the very least I'm currently interested in supporting the majority of FTB Infinity and whatever the latest build of Tekkit is. If demand is high, I might also put up a website for SineCraft with that awesome customizer all the cool resource pack authors are using ;)

Who knows what the future holds?

I hated how the torches looked with the new particle, so I fixed them. http://imgur.com/a/zdc3T

    Here's a screen shot:

Edit: There's a torch under the particle if you missed it. It's slightly longer to fit the particle effect.

Yeah, my bad on that. The red portion in the middle was an editing mistake that I didn't notice, it was supposed to be all yellow and orange just like the torches :/

    What about the rest?

    v2.0 - 7.11.2015

    IT'S DONE!

Not really, but the goal for v2.0 was only to get the pack to at least the same completion state it was in before I took a hiatus, and at this point I have far surpassed that state. With this update I have finished adding new assets for every survival item and block texture, and I feel that the pack is ready to go out of pre-release in it's current state. Regular version updates will follow from now on.

This release does not include spawn eggs and a handful of other creative-only items, nor does it include some special effects overlays, etc. that I will probably just leave as defaults. 3D textures for armor, mobs, or paintings are also not included; those will come in a future update.

Okay, so let's discuss the update! New textures are in for Nether Quartz and Podzol Dirt (thanks xiondisc!) to correct their mismatched look in the last pre-release. As before, every default item left in the last pre-release has been redrawn to match the SineCraft style.

Let's talk about dye powder - for now, I'm going with a unified 'powder pile' design for every dye color. In the future I may decide to draw unique textures for each color of powder, but the goal of SineCraft has always been to make each item easily identifiable; I feel like the new powder design does that very nicely.

The Armor Stand world textures are in the early stages and will probably be tweaked in the future, but for now it's serviceable.

I can agree with most of what you're saying, and like I said, I wouldn't want you to change anything if you already felt strongly about its current state. I can accept that. Maybe if I'm feeling ambitious I'll make an alternate pack for the items that are 32x32 just for myself. Maybe you'll want to add them as an alternate download or something. Just a thought.

I completely forgot that they didn't use the gradient system and that they would only contrast nicely in certain biomes. Well, never mind then. :P

I wanted to mention that most of the flora have 2 pixel wide stems, but the smaller ones have a thick 2 pixel outline which I find pretty inconsistent. Maybe they would look better if they all had the blue orchid stem.

Podzol Dirt is like dirty leafy autumn grass. It looks different because the dirt under it is much more dry. Isn't it supposed to be on top of course dirt? Maybe I'm wrong.

    Edit: I'm wrong.

Also, feel free to take anything of mine. You don't even need to ask. I don't even want credit. Just want to help. :D

I've tuned the colors to be slightly more distinct and vibrant, also a little bit less transparent since they are stained. I've removed the shine detail, but really I just think it should be more subtle not removed completely. Just my personal taste, I guess.

No, of course I didn't think you would agree with everything. It's not my pack. I'm just the overly passionate guy that doesn't know how to do or teach, so I just critique. :P

I'll shut up about the 32x32. If I feel that strongly about it, I'll just have to make my own. Let me know what you think about that.

I'm very excited to see what you come up with for the rest of the textures. Though as for mobs, I'd assume you would just be recoloring and keeping the values mostly the same?

It's all good. Grab the newest release and have fun :D

There's a few things I've been wanting to bother you about. All of which are change suggestions for SineCraft, obviously.

While I love the design of the block textures themselves, there are quite a few item textures I don't really feel too strongly about. I want to preface this again by saying that I am aware these textures are personal to you and you are, in no way, obligated to change any texture and I wouldn't want you to if you didn't feel it needs changing. Also, I feel the texture pack's 16x16 nature is something to uphold. Aside from that, most its allure comes from the colors used than the mosaic style. Though, the use of all three is what makes this pack so great.

That being said, I would like to implore you to consider the idea that, explicitly for items, 32x32 textures aren't a detriment to the core theme of the pack. In fact, I feel that if implemented right, higher resolution textures would actually improve the blocky/mosaic theme of the pack by giving you more room to better define your shapes.

I have always thought that I hated 32x32 textures packs, and in the basic sense, I do. In reality, I just hate other's thematic implementations. Essentially, when you stray from the block-like nature of Minecraft, you tend to get many conflicting aesthetics between the game itself and the textures. This leaves many texture packs feeling so... inconsistent. It may be difficult, but I do think there is a way to have your cake and eat it too (maybe a bad use of that metaphor, but whatever).

My idea is 161/2x161/2 textures. What I mean is you would use a 32x32 resolution texture, but draw the majority of your defining detail in 16x16, while only adding in 32x32 detail as needed to simulate the look of a 16x16 texture, but with the added level of detail to better define your items. I've uploaded a few things that I'll get to down below, but one of those items is the carrots. Now, carrot crops aren't necessarily an item, but the carrot items are obtained from them, so I thought it would be a decent example of what I'm trying to convey here.

Sorry for the long text, but I have a few more things I would like to point out.

There are a few textures that I find are a bit lacking and a few of them I've created examples.
Torches (Specifically the interaction between the detailed fire animation and the blocky torch texture.)
Axes (This comes down to personal taste, but I've never likes the axe in its current state. I can't take it seriously.)
Plants (While I will say you did a great job on the new plants, like the tall grass before, they don't quite match the grass in contrast.)
Podzol Dirt (I've uploaded an edited version that I feel looks more realistic.)
Glass (I do love the glass textures, but I've made a few changes to the colors you might be interested in.)
Saplings (Not lacking at all. I just wanted to tell you that they're amazing. Good sh*t.)
That just about sums it up. I could say this a million times, but thank you for creating and share this texture pack. I'm sure it means a lot to you, but I can hardly express what it means to me. It's like a favorite jacket that you lost while moving one year and suddenly it reappears in the back of your closet where you haven't looked since then.

I couldn't get FileDropper to work, so here is an Imgur album (Sorry that they're against a dark background. The glass looks much better against white.)

I appreciate you taking the time to write out your thoughts! There are definitely some things here I agree with, and I will try to quickly answer each point on your list here.

SineCraft as a 32x32 pack: This one, I have no interest in doing. One of the things people have told me they love most about SineCraft is that it looks so clean and 'high-def' but in reality it's just a regular 16x16 pack. I've always kind of prided myself on this point, actually. I realize that the quality of items could be better if SineCraft was a 32x32 pack, but let's first consider three things.

    • The first thing is that I would need to redraw most, if not all, of the textures to make them properly fit a 32x32 imagespace. This is especially important for seams and such. Doubling them wouldn't really do the job. Plus, it'd be giving myself a huge amount of work for not a huge gain.
    • The second thing is my artistic ability. Working with SineCraft's simple, flat designs works well for me because it's within my limited abilities. I do work hard to come up with good designs and color schemes for objects in the world, but I don't have the same level of artistic talent as the guy that does (for example) BDCraft, and this will surely translate to any 32x32 items I have to draw.
    • The third thing is that I don't want people to require OptiFine to use the pack, and I thought Minecraft only supported 16x16 packs out of the box?

Torches: I haven't done the fire particle effects (or the fire animations) yet, but they're on the list. That may help.

Axes: Honestly, I've always liked the way axes look. I understand some people won't like everything, but I feel that they're adequate. For now :D

Plants: With the contrast of these vs. grass, I have no real control. All of the plants (except for tall/double-tall grass and ferns) do not come in grayscale, and so, do not use the biome gradients. They are already fully-colored and these are the color values Minecraft uses every time. They are always going to look the same, and they will never match biome grass perfectly (this last point is actually by design; I do want at least SOME of the flora to look distinctive.)

Podzol Dirt: Yours looks way nicer than mine. Would you mind if I used those two (with credits of course?) This is partially because I have no idea where it is actually used in Minecraft or for what purpose, so I cannot form a good opinion of what they should look like - I made this same mistake with the Quartz (not knowing about that 'Nether' part in the front ;) ) and that will be fixed in the next update to reflect that it actually generates in Netherrack, not Stone.

Carrots: As with Podzol dirt, yours look way nicer, but then you've also got a 32x32 imagespace. That means you can have 4x the amount of detail ;) With that said I have been meaning to redraw carrots, right now they're just a recolored copy of potatoes. I haven't even done the item textures for those yet.

Glass: I don't see the issue with the glass colors as they currently are? They're pretty close to yours.

    Saplings: Thanks, I tried :D

Again, I value your opinions and I hope you're not angry that I don't agree with everything on your list. Like you said, SineCraft is a very personal project to me and I'm trying to make it as good as it can possibly be, but I also have to balance my aspirations with my capabilities :D

In any case, I'm glad you've enjoyed the pack so much these past four years. SineCraft has been my favorite Minecraft texture pack since shortly after I began working on it. Now that I have the time to properly update the pack, I want it to be the best, most complete 16x16 Minecraft resource pack in existence when it's finally 'done.' And yes, this does mean I plan to do mobs, paintings, etc., I just don't know how I'll do it yet.

    v2.0 Pre-Release 6 - 7.10.2015

In this release, I have added all of the Prismarine blocks for the Water Temple, and nice metal frames for glass pane sides/top. I have also recolored a couple of the hardened clay blocks. Additionally, I have created new textures for the door items (to match their respective world textures) and a few of the newer items that were never added to SineCraft before (brewing stand, cauldron, bottles, and a few others.)

At this stage the pack isn't far from being totally up-to-date! All that's really missing are the items related to brewing and dye-making, and I plan to get to those as soon as I can. Then all we'll need are mobs, armor, and paintings, which I am not yet convinced I can do.

Thanks for the heads up, but that's okay! There's only so many design possibilities we can come up with in a 16x16 space, and his pack looks different enough to mine that I wouldn't consider it a blatant rip-off. SineCraft is all about deep colors and flat design. Plus, we can't forget that SineCraft's color palette and some of the item designs were themsevles inspired by Doku's RPG pack and vamediah's item set.

I feel like it's okay to borrow ideas and themes that you know will work well for your project so long as you put enough of a spin on them to make it unique.

    v2.0 Pre-Release 5 - 7.8.2015

With this update I have created a new panoramic for the title screen. I have also animated flowing water and lava (what a pain in the ass that was!) Additionally, I've never been happy with the way the old mosaic pattern lava looked, so I've created a new lava texture that resembles the water texture.

    v2.0 Pre-Release 4 - 7.8.2015

In this update I've again tweaked the tall grass to better match the biome gradients (Thanks to xiondisc for helping with that!) I've also added all the double-tall plants.

    Quote from xiondisc»

Here is my personal version for 1.8: http://www.filedropper.com/sinecraftupdate181

I'll try to remember and list all the blocks I updated myself that are in this pack... Although some of them are using the previous seamless texture. I'll probably list some that I didn't make myself, so sorry in advance.

    coal block
    command block
    comparator
    daylight detector

    double plant grass
    dragon egg
    dropper
    emerald block
    emerald ore
    hay block
    hopper
ice (I think I redid this one)
iron bars (pretty sure I redid this one too)
    itemframe background
    ladder (redid)
    log acacia (my version)
    log big oak (my version)
rails (I probably changed a few of them)
    redstone block
    redstone lamp
    saplings (redid some)
    snow (probably redid)
    stonebrick cracked/mossy
    tallgrass (my version)

Feel free to take and edit those or use as-is.

Edit: I was thinking, you could probably just make the bottom half of the grass as dark as mine and then gradually make the tops of the grass as light as yours.

All I've used from your version were the 'stems' for the tall grass to make the contrast match. Thanks for uploading that!
