posted a message on Do you think this is real?

I don't know why such a big youtuber would be visiting a small server (Online count: 3). I would imagine someone did /nick and had another plugin for disguises. It could also be the citizens plugin. In my opinion, its fake.

The problem is audience too. Pardon me for saying this, but these days the averange minecraft player is MUCH younger than they used to be. The mindset on what they want (putting effort vs instant gratification) is very different from what was.

No problem, I can't agree with you more. Playing on a server, I feel I can tell roughly what age group (8-12, 13-18, 18+) a player is in by what they say in chat, build etc. Typically, as you said, its between the 8-12 age groups that dominate the Minecraft community in numbers. The younger players don't seem to understand that to do something amazing takes time and effort as you said. Evaluating what you said, I thought of the idea of a gray-list, and only letting players you accept(by making an application system) to interact with the server. Gray-listed players can still look around and see what others have made, however they can not build, break blocks etc. Anyway that's just an idea I had.

As it is not recommended to host a server on your PC.

Really, the only time I would not recommend hosting a server on your PC is if your opening it to the public. However if they are just going to play with friends, then there should be no problem. There are some really good tutorials out there that make port forwarding easy if your struggling to start one yourself.

(In fact, it is still possible if somebody is willing to spend their hard-earned cash(perhaps) to host such a server.)

In fact, that is exactly what i was thinking, and I think I might take charge. Maybe a building server where anyone can add to a giant floating island and make whatever they like, or a server based on working together to survive, idk they are just some ideas I had.

Hello, I have pretty much the same experience with java and bukkit developing, so I can't really help you make your plugin. However, would you consider paying for a lesson? I do know there are payed tutorials that could help you out. If your interested, you can find them on the bukkit website.

Make sure you have the right in-game settings on, like in skin customization make sure you have cape on. Also in the details section in video settings, make sure show capes is on.

posted a message on Minecraft servers have changed... A lot.

    Hello everyone!

Now, my first time playing Minecraft on a server back in 2011 was a great experience. I couldn't believe how big and exciting other player's worlds were. I remember making a home on someone's massive world and having a great time. Since that day, I played on servers daily for about a year, until I got bored of the game and went on to other things.

5 years had past and I had made my return to Minecraft, only to have a huge shock. I was looking at a server list, to see huge mega servers such as Hypixel and Mineplux (At least I think that's what it's called) who have huge amounts of players every day. I think hypixel had 50,000. I laughed when i saw how minigames are programmed to automatically start, rather than the spleef days where you had to build the arena and teleport the players in manually.

However, my main point on this thread is how every server may as well be the same. After searching for a good 2 hours, I came to realize that every server has the same stuff every time. By that I mean Skyblock, Prison, Creative and KitPvP. I can't seem to get away from it. I mean, whats the point of exploring new worlds, if each one has the same stuff on it as the last one you visited. It's pretty disappointing in my opinion.

I am putting a poll on this thread to see if other people can relate to this. I am very curious to see the results, so please answer!

    Thanks for reading! ~Shmoup
