posted a message on Why the big hype on the words "Java Edition"
    Quote from aNaturalCause»

Can someone explain to me why everyone is making such a big deal about Minecraft Java Edition. Besides the days in which Minecraft was a browser only game and before MS bought Mojang. Minecraft was a Java based game.

The issues are two fold. First and foremost Minecraft has always been a Java game, that's how this whole thing started. Therefor it has always been called "Minecraft". If you mentioned "Minecraft" you were referring to the Java edition.

Not only has Mojang renamed 'Minecraft' into 'Minecraft Java Edition' they also renamed the Pocket Edition (or mobile or whatever) into 'Minecraft'. So now if you mention 'Minecraft' they're trying to make it so that you're actually talking about the pocket/mobile/etc. edition. And that ticks plenty of people off because Minecraft has always been Java. Basically, according to some players, the original players of the game have now been moved to the sidelines and they're no longer considered official Minecraft players. Instead anyone playing the mobile editions are now considered "official" (note: not my opinion but just what I perceived around me).

The other issue has already been mentioned by others: the fear that Mojang could very well focus their attention completely onto the other platforms and discontinue support for the Java edition. I think those are valid concerns because it is a fact that Mojang / Microsoft might be able to make a whole lot more money on those "portable platforms". Where we can simply download any skin we'd like you'd have to pay for it on the console editions.

posted a message on is it possible to summon a mob with more than one custom attribute?
    Quote from 119patman»

im trying to make a zombie that is fast, and has a custom follow range is this possible? here is my command that I tried to make myself but it is giving me errors such as [21:37:32] Data tag parsing failed: Unable to locate name/value separator for string: [{Name:generic.movementSpeed,Base:0.001}]

    my command: /summon Zombie ~ ~5 ~ {Attributes:[{Name:generic.followRange,Base:200}],[{Name:generic.movementSpeed,Base:0.001}]}

Yes it's easily doable. This is the reason why it's so important to know how the whole NBT formatting works. Those [] signs denote a list, and a list means that you can have multiple entries in it. What you're doing is trying to create 2 lists, while there's no reason for that:

    /summon Zombie ~ ~5 ~ {Attributes:[{Name:generic.followRange,Base:200},{Name:generic.movementSpeed,Base:0.001}]}

posted a message on Elytra should be repaired by Dragon's Breath instead of Leather (Balancing)

Have to disagree with the idea because it wouldn't balance all that much. I mean; at this point in the game you're also more likely to come across mending books which effectively allow you to keep all your gear maintained through sheer XP gathering.

    Quote from raketenspeed»

    BAM try to beat that.

    Ok: https://minecraft.gamepedia.com/Logic_circuit#XNOR_Gate

In fact, if you check that wiki page you'll find a whole bunch of pre-existing logic circuits which can be used to make specific switches and toggles.

posted a message on Is there a universal way to detect if a player has broken a block around them?

There is no 'easy' command to fix this. You could consider (ab)using an advancement, but that would only expand your problem. Instead of having to add scoreboards you'd now be looking at adding customized scripts (both the advancement as well as a script to go with it).

Quite frankly I don't understand what's stopping you from using the scoreboard. That's what it was meant for and it really isn't that much work.

posted a message on Help with redstone circuits

What version and edition of Minecraft are you playing on?

Also: you never show us the sides of the build. How many pistons are you using for each side of the door? or how many in total?

posted a message on Is this a bug ?

It's not a bug, it's a feature. And I'm actually a little serious about this. Welcome to the principle of the BUD switch.

There are multiple problems here. First of all pistons are crazy. Meaning: they don't behave like redstone components 'should' behave because you can activate them even when they're not supposed to. For example by using a powered block which itself is one block away from the piston.

I've attached a screenshot, and the question is: what would happen if you were to place a lamp or a pison on the yellow wool block?

Answer: a lamp won't do anything because there's no reason to. There is no redstone charge around the yellow wool block to which the lamp should react, therefor the lamp stays off. Now place a piston onto the yellow wool and be amazed: the piston does respond. For no obvious reason at all! Can it get more crazy than this? For sure: because after you placed the piston and you removed the torch then the piston stays in its extended position, even while its no longer powered.

This is what many redstoners refer to as the piston bug and it has existed for a long time already. Therefor my starting comment; although it is technically a bug it's been in the game for so long that most of us now consider it a feature of some sort.

    Hope this helps!

posted a message on Are mineshafts worth exploring?

Mineshafts are one of my favorite structures to explore because they're not only completely randomly generated, but anything can happen.. Sometimes you get a 'normal' mineshaft, other times you end up with two (or three) crossing into each other, and a mineshaft also often leads to ravines and cave structures, which I also really enjoy.

For me the element of surprise and the effort to light it all up has always been something I can enjoy. And as others also mentioned: strongholds maybe close, and there's always plenty of ore to find.

I never pass on exploring one.

I can't see much difference, so I don't think this changed. Otherwise I would also have expected something to appear within the release notes.

posted a message on setblock command issue.

When bugfixing these things start by issuing the command(s) manually, that's a sure way to see what's going on. When the same command doesn't work try looking it up on the wiki and try variants, as cb already mentioned.

posted a message on How to use testforblock on a diagonal line.

Just specify 2 coordinates. For example; a block east of you would be ~-1 ~ ~, So a block South-East would be ~-1 ~ ~1.

47 here. Seems the poll doesn't work anymore, I don't see much.

Anyway, polls are usually always biased in one way or another. It's also often not so much the info from the poll, but the way it's presented (or the weird conclusions people draw from it) which can be an issue.
