Hrm, not a half bad idea... a mod that lets you use the most current engine, but restricts content to mimic older versions *starts jotting down notes* -

Most of the lag is from horrid engine optimization (compare MC's speed with all the clones out there). Mojang was working on fixing those issues, but not sure what happened to that project. I think bits of the optimizations have made their way in, but there's a lot of work to do yet.
The new Redstone engine and the new Lighting engine (that vanished) are both part of that optimization. There may be other optimizations coming that have allowed for the 3D floating drops too with minimal impact (pure speculation on my part) -

WOW THEY STOLE THE MOD
OMG How dare they take a good idea an implement it directly into the game engine when they've clearly stating they don't endorse modding until the mod API is officially part of the game!
Yeah, they should totally remove all the good ideas they integrated that came from the illegal modding community and start banning the modders instead.
Meh, anyway, clueless person aside... I'd rather they worked on the API and the graphics engine like people actually want instead of futzing around with fireworks that no one asked for and no one cared about until it was announced. -

I am pretty scared it seems like the mod API will be delayed to another future version.
Agreed... so much for them assuring us we'd see it in 1.4 when it failed to make 1.3 *sigh*
I guess they got overloaded by the coding and had to go into fun mode for a bit and drop in tons of content instead, which isn't altogether bad, but it's not what we're waiting for eitherQuote from cr88192
or, maybe, they will not teleport across fences (or if they are within a certain range of fences), such as to allow the creation of "dog yards": considers teleporting, notices within N blocks of a fence, doesn't teleport.

Congratulations, you can read the letter of the law and completely ignore the intent. Go be a lawyer and get filthy rich screwing people over.
If it was that simple we wouldn't have courts and judges. Courts and judges are there to just the intent of the law, and judge whether the law being broken is in fact a legal law at all.
Actually, you and Nicksterr both missed on that one...
The following are some patent scenarios that if found out to be true, will make the patent invalid.- The invention is not useful or new.
- The invention was already made by someone else or used by someone else that described the invention in a written publication. The publication date was before the invention date.
- The invention is too obvious, that is, someone could have easily recreated the invention.
- The invention does not benefit the general public in any way.
- The patent itself does not describe the invention in enough detail that someone can recreate it.
- The maker of the invention did not include a description of what is the best way of using the invention.
- The patent application was filed over a year after the first time the invention was used in public.

First off, apple is not my "beloved" to any extent. Secondly, "slide to unlock" is much more commonly known and any one else using it almost certainly took inspiration from Apple. On the other hand, this company and its patent are so obscure that it's reasonable to assume (most) of these companies came up with the same idea on their own. Plus, I don't even know where Uniloc's anti-piracy fingerprinting falls inot minecraft, seeing as it has no anti-piracy technology.
The patent in question is generically worded such that any client application that does a server handshake to verify license is infringing on the patent. http://www.google.com/patents/US6857067
Uniloc has no product whatsoever, all they have is a series of anti-piracy patents they've built and/or collected, they've labeled it as their own innovation, and they sue everyone they believe they can win against. Their entire business is patent research and lawsuit while claiming they "grow and innovate technology". http://www.uniloc.com (see their Company and Intellectual Property pages for more specific info on their ********) -

And you seem like a typical anti-American idiot. There's hundreds of technology patent cases right now, and most of them are NOT American companies. Uniloc itself is an Australian guy who just happens to be in the US. Good job on the stupid though, you win a sign.Quote from FC360
Sounds like a typical American company. All these American companies seem to be is sue sue sue it's kinda pathetic. I'm a little confused about this as I thought since Mojang was a Sweden based company that an American company couldn't take them to a American court since they aren't in the same country so might have different laws but apparently not.
Edit: hah, he's not even in the US anymore, he's back in Australia now, go figure on that one He only came to the US to build his patent trolling company. -

Yup, and if you go read on Uniloc's website (no seriously, go read it now!) you'll see that they're "a company that is discovering, growing and innovating technology that is changing the way people live." by patenting every single anti-piracy method they can think of (http://www.uniloc.com/index.php/intellectual-property/) for the sole purpose of making sure they can profit off of it.
Uniloc is a textbook patent troll and really should be put under investigation. -

I love how biased the title of the thread is. Mojang could very well be the bad guys here, even if they didn't mean to be. You never know.
Read the patent dude: http://www.google.com/patents/US6857067
Basically, Uniloc is saying they own a patent on ANY software that phones home to verify registration. That would include every game on Steam and Origin, as well as many many other games that have been doing this since before Uniloc was even a company. -

actually yes, norton flips out all the time, heck i upgraded my graphics driver and it went into an endless uninstall loop. so after a while i told it 'sure uninstall yourself, i'm getting avast' been using avast ever sense, it doesn't give me even half of the issues norton did. i've hated norton sense my first computer, not to mention i had a virus and it couldn't catch it, it was spreading through my computer alarmingly fast and norton couldn't stop it. got avast ran it in boot time scan, and delf was gone, haven't seen it sense. norton only thinks delf infects windows xp, i call bs, i got it on my vista 64 bit, avast then caught 3 more viruses and hacking attempts afterword.
i trust avast far more then norton.
I think he meant no to your alternatives, not no to getting rid of the Norton virus
I personally use Microsoft Security Essentials. It's free, it doesn't bog down the system like most other free and even paid AVs, and it's been shown on the AV newsgroups to be one of the top AVs for stopping and preventing infections.
AVG's another acceptable choice, Panda's ok for the most part as well.

I'm using CustomOreGen 1.2.21 and Mekanism 1.7.10-8.1.6.250 and BiomesOPlenty1.7.10-2.1.0.1396, along with a bunch of other mods that don't do anything funny with oregen. I haven't touched the config files for COG, just using the defaults and there's NO Mekanism ores being generated at all. I verified that the Mekanism config exists, and aside from low (but not missing) quantities of redstone and coal, everything else seems to be generating just fine :\
Is there a known compatibility issue with these versions? Am I just missing something?
0
No you didn't. The first 2/3 of the post were answering unrelated questions. Then for the issue that your mod is the only mod out of 200+ failing on, you just say you discussed it on IRC and to try reinstalling.
Clean install on Curse and clean manual install of Forge, both CRCs match for all 4 typesafe files.

Now that's helpful...
Mind sharing for the rest of us that aren't stuck in the 90s?
This error is coming up when OpenComputers is installed via Curse Voice, so it's not as straight forward as just reinstalling.
Update: just checked, typesafe is installed by Curse Voice in the same location as all the other libraries. 200+ mods installed and only OpenComputers crashes (even when all the others are uninstalled and it's straight Forge)
Update 2: Yup, typesafe is shown being loaded in the client log --> http://pastebin.com/akT0NTVc <-- Complete log file with no other mods besides OpenComputers shows it's clearly being loaded, OC is just blind to it.

The new GUI is looking nice. Any plans for it to appear in the 1.7.10 version, or just moving forward on the 1.8 version?
As far as the what to do with overloaded drawers and allowing upgrades to be removed: I say put the onus on the user there and lock the upgrade from being removed if the new maximum would be lower than the current inventory.
Alternately, you could be forgiving and let them remove it and keep the current inventory, but not allow anything new to be added as long as it remains capped out... but this can lead to a bit of abuse with players passing the upgrades around like a key.
The other other options are to delete the excess inventory, or dump the excess on the floor. Both of those are messy options from a player perspective, albeit it the easiest ones to code

Ever since mods moved to gradle they've been a nightmare to write or compile. I gave up modding because gradle is genuinely THAT bad.

Seriously though, this mod makes it damn near impossible to raise more than one animal at a time outside of massive pastures because they just up and die within minutes.
Realistic? Not even close.

The whole reason for using Forge is to not have the stupidity of manually modifying jar files. And I'm sorry, but I'm not going to add LiteLoader for a single mod, it's just not worth the hassle. If there's no other Forge minimaps of Zan's quality, then there's just no other Forge minimaps of Zan's quality, and I'm ok with that answer, I was just looking for other options.

Are you sure? I don't see any new upgrades or anything that appears to do that in NEI.Also, what lag?Nevermind, took a while to find the changelog... it takes glowstone, not an upgrade. Sucks cause glowstone is so limited, but I guess it works. And it doesn't actually work... putting glowstone dust in does nothing, and it won't accept a glowstone block as an upgrade.

Forge can't load LiteLoader mods, there's no Forge version of Zan's posted for 1.7.10 anywhere in the thread. Thankfully I have the incomplete one that was listed shortly before Zan got removed from all official sources, but it's got a few missing things since it wasn't fully upgraded yet.
Anyway, I'm not going to beg for Zan's to be updated, just seeking out a replacement. Rei's and Zan's were the only ones worth a spit, and Zan's performed better and had nicer display. Just sad to see it go is all.

If the texture animations are slowing your PC down that much, you're having other issues. Texture swapping is NOT that intense on the GPU.

Where can a version for 1.7.10 be found? As others have pointed out, there doesn't appear to be one.
So with Rei's unmaintained and Zan's gone, there's no more decent Forge minimaps :\ (JourneyMap and MapWriter are jokes on their best days)
