posted a message on Stained Glass
XD We aren't here for mods, we're here proposing ideas for vanilla.
I've been waiting for stained glass for a very, very long time. I really hope that it happens one day.

posted a message on New Foods and Diseases:A Brief Overview
Although some of these ideas are a bit much, some of it could be implemented. I think that if diseases were implemented, chances would need to be significantly lower. Instead of specific diseases, there should just be a diseased state. Raw meat will slowly drain your health say... 0.1 % of the time that you consume it. Very rare, so that new players won't be too discouraged and because disease states shouldn't be a main point of the game.

But little surprises like that WOULD be fun.

posted a message on Why Experience Orbs?
    Quote from saintsalive

I don't really have any problem with exp/orbs, but I do think they look a bit out of place. But that's what texture packs/texture clearing is for.

This was my concern. Those orbs look ugly and out of place to me. I was also concerned with the idea of not being able to grab all of my experience; I'm a slow, cautious fighter, so it may very well take me a looong time to get around to the experience from my first kill. Heck, I'll probably die as soon as a few guys start swarming me because I have poor aim and I'm awful at strategy. XD So I'd rather have exp assigned by percentage to the people who dealt damage, too. I hated the exp orbs in Fable 3, etc. It's purely aesthetic hatred, though.
If this is how Notch chooses to do it, I have no choice but to live with it, but I'm definitely going to need to reskin those orbs. >_

posted a message on What do you think the Endermen will drop when killed?
I like the idea of them just dropping whatever it is that they're holding. If they're going to drop something new, it should be something used to craft, but I have no idea what I'd expect it to be.

posted a message on DONT LET THE MODDERS STARVE!
I've played since Alpha, and I don't use anything but texture packs. Don't generalize us. Mojang deserves all of the money that I paid, since I'm only using Mojang's code... but I don't feel that modders are being unfairly treated right now anyway.

I see that you are near some other water... if you have difficulty getting squid to spawn, you'll need to kill other nearby squid and hope that they respawn in your water, or get rid of some of that water so that some will have to spawn in yours.

posted a message on Thoughts on lightening up Smooth Lighting?
Well, his suggestion is to make it be lighter overall with smooth lighting, so that it looks better and not unnaturally dark, right? I saw this the other day, and somebody suggested upping the gamma on my graphics card. I did, and it's been much easier to play on smooth lighting since. You may consider doing that, too.

    Quote from rodabon »
I recommend going into your video card settings and turning up your gamma a little. If your vid card doesn't allow this then you may consider upgrading to one that does. Playing with monitor brightness and contrast isn't the same nor as satisfactory.

I understand how some of you have issues with how dark it can be on certain system defaults. On my PC at home I have no issue. When I visited my folks and setup minecraft on their PC, WOW, dark was D A R K. Between their monitor, the default vid settings and playing on a PC in a room that was well lit, I couldn't see the tool that was in my hand in front of my face.

Thank you for that suggestion... I've been looking for that exact solution. My system defaults were poor compared to those of nearly everybody else that I knew, and adjusting that just a little really improved my game. :Diamond:
