posted a message on Downloading Creative Plot [CRAFTGASM server]

    Hello world

For some time now, me and a friend of mine have been skypeing each other and playing on the Craftgasm creative server. We're building a custom terrain/landscape thingamabob, but that's not the point. The point is, our little plot is almost filled up and we're getting quite close to calling it finished but we really don't want to delete it once it's done (we are for sure going to want to build something else eventually). I was wondering, is there any way that we can save our creative plot to a normal minecraft world? Is there a part of the CraftGasm plugin that allows that? Is there a mod that we can use to download just our plot, without being banned for hacking? I know its a long shot, and we're both prepared to just take a lot of screenshots when we're done, but it would be pretty cool to keep our plot because it looks AMAZING (for some reason, our mediocre building skills made something beautiful).

Any advice or help is welcome.

posted a message on What to build?

Build a room that you breed lots of farm animals in, then use dispensers to murder them for food. The floor should be made of hoppers that transport the meat to furnaces, and an item-sorting machine should be somewhere in the mix to put the items in nicely organized chests. (If you're really clever, you can use flaming arrows to bypass the need to cook anything).

posted a message on Random Boat Death
When I started playing Minecraft back in 1.4-ish, boats were already glitchy. I remember almost rage quitting when my boat broke after ploughing through, like, 3 lily pads. Over time, its just gotten worse. The update to 1.7 saw a "sprint" function added to boats, and apparently the steering was improved to, but it just got worse for me. Now my boat flies 10-20 blocks in a random direction every time I dismount, and it takes me forever to swim over there. Oh! And my boats usually break after touching a block, no matter the speed. Anyway, I just stay away from boat travel as much as I can, and hope that someday Mojang will either fix or nerf boats, because I hate them.

Sorry to hear about your world, though. There are a lot of really rage-inducing ways to die, and a glitch is one of them. Especially in hardcore.

posted a message on Hopper Help
Hey everybody, so I've created an automatic smelting/cooking system using chests, furnaces, and hoppers. I know basically how hoppers work, but I'm no expert. Anyway, it works fine, and I'm somewhat happy with it. I put the items in, keep the coal topped up, and then the machine smelts the items and puts it all into one chest. Basic stuff, and it works fine. The only thing is that I have to have 1 input chest for each furnace. Is there any way to split (as evenly as possible) the output of items from one chest into, say, 5 hoppers (one for each furnace)? Just as I'm writing this I realize that a minecart with a hopper could be used, but are there any more efficient ways to do this?

Any help is welcome. Thanks guys.

I'm not a fan of the language, but that's just me.

posted a message on What key for sprinting do you use?
Since I use OptiFine, my Lctrl key is taken, so for sprinting I use Q. It just makes sense in my mind. Its right beside W, and W is how you move forward so, double keys = fast. That's my thinking. I rarely drop items anyway, so I didn't really use Q anyway. Now my item drop key is C because, well, I'm usually all alone so, may as well make it hard to drop any items by accident.

Sucks when I play in versions before 1.7. :P I can't do anything. Lulz.

posted a message on How do you store all your items?
At the beginning of a survival world, I usually just put everything in one chest and leave it at that. No sorting, nothing. However, when I get more advanced in a world, and I get a lot of items, I begin a storage system/room/cave. Usually its just items sorted randomly into chests, but one world I sorted everything from mining lewt (proper spelling), to dirt, cobble, mob drops, potion ingredients, plants, food, woody things (logs, planks, slabs, stairs, ect), old tools, miscellaneous materials, you name it. I'm not a real sticker for organization, I just sort things so I know where they are.

Charge, then bob-and-weave until dead to take as little damage as possible. Works most of the time. Still perfecting the technique.

posted a message on why do people bother branch/shaft mining?
Branch mining, I've found, is often much more rewarding than caving. If you mine at the right level, you can find more diamonds quicker than caving, usually. If you do it right. I use strip/branch mining when I feel that my local caves have been exhausted. It may take a while to find a good spot, but I've found that branch mining is a very good mining technique.

    posted a message on Creepers
    Quote from RepoDraghon

I know this is an old thread and I'm new to Mincraft (2 days in fact) but I have noticed (playing 1.7.2) Creepers cannot blow up Stone Bricks, where my current house is located is inundated with creepers and they keep blowing up my wood fence, I'm about to try cobblestone fence, will get back to you on that...

Hey, welcome to the forums. Just a friendly reminder, one of the rules here is not to post on a long-dead thread, but being new, I'm sure people won't mind. :)

Creepers will blow up any and every block in minecraft besides obsidian and bedrock. Those two are the only explosion-proof blocks out there. Having said that, different blocks have different explosion resilience. That means that they have different strengths when it comes to explosions. I have noticed that the higher the resiliency, the less of that block will be blown up by a creeper. For example, when a creeper explodes in a desert, nearly every sand block in its blast radius is destroyed whereas when a creeper explodes in a stronghold, very few stone bricks are destroyed. So, what may have happened is when the creeper exploded close to your house, either it wasn't close enough or the stone bricks had a high enough resiliency to not get destroyed. :)
