Here's the next entry :) Have a nice weekend everyone!

Entry #4 - Skeleton grinder build
I started by clearing a bit of space to make the elevator visible. Why not put some of that wood to good use? The stone bricks go well with the wood, I believe.

Here's the view from the water canal that feeds the elevator.

A 9x9 spawn room. The row of dirt to the right is holding back the water that will push the skellies to the canal from the previous picture.

This is the drop point for the skellies. Here I experimented with the vine, hoping that it would work to make sure they always fall 23 blocks. Sadly it didn't work too well. After a while the mobs would get stuck, so I removed that all together.

Here I tested it personally before letting mobs through. 41 levels at stake! Oh the suspense...

Worked just fine on me! :D Too bad the mobs got stuck on that later :(

    Landing pad ready.

So, time to release the water and remove the torches at the same time.

Now it's dark enough in there for skeletons to spawn.

    What goes up...

    ...must come down.

After correcting the flaw from before it worked a lot better. Only problem is it's a bit inconsistent. Unarmored skellies sometimes are 2 hit kills. Sometimes they even die from the fall. The grinder is serving it's purpose well though.

Time to start upgrading bows, the main purpose of the grinder!

Made a little observation port. Thanks for reading! Until the next entry ;)

Thanks for the kind words everyone :) Keeps me motivated! Without further ado, here is...

Entry #3 - Dungeons found and some surface level exploration
I guess I'm just a cave dweller at heart. Continued caving after the last entry led me to this zombie dungeon.

Music Disc 13 counts as good loot I suppose. Once the dragon is gone I'll be able to craft a jukebox for it!

Jackpot! I'm hearing the rattle-rattle of bones :D

Skellies gave a good fight. I got shot down that small tunnel, luckily it was not a long drop.

Placed a torch right at the entrance to slow down the spawning.

    You're mine now, sucker!

And neutralized! Got plans for this one.

"Lame" of Athropods III :( An extra bucket is OK though.

    Crowd is gathering outside.

Change of scenery! I come out to a nice sunrise. Before going outside, I chopped down more wood and fence posts in the abandoned mineshaft. Time to explore after that mundane task :)

Don't jump, piggy! You're still young!

Piggy: "I've got a baaaaad feeling about this"

Piggy was right! Might as well stock up on food while I'm up here.

A lone, huge oak tree. Looks kinda epic. I'm liking the landscape.

    Lunch time!

Sugar cane to make a farm for that later. And should fill my second bucket with water.

Ah! The wintery area transitions to a swamp.

    "I can't swim!!! *gluglugluuuug*"

Good opportunity to get a stack of vines...

    ...and a stack of lillypads.

As night time approaches, I see something interesting in the distance!

A witch hut! Oh I have plans for you. I've yet to build a witch farm.

Now to make it back in one piece. For a change, I get to snipe a skelly. The trip back has some action...

    *BIFF*

    *POW*

    *BAM*

    Ahhh, beautiful sunrise :)

    Plenty of ravines around here.

He has a full set of enchanted chainmail armor: Unfortunately he dropped only rotten flesh :(

Back at my caves, I start preparing the skelly spawner. I'm planning to use it to get some enchanted bows to upgrade. This should make up for not having an enchanting table to buff the rest of my kit. I hope you enjoyed, thanks for reading and until the next entry! ;)

This one is pretty well done actually. I'm thinking of starting one as well, survival SMP all by myself completely 100% vanilla. What do you guys think?

Go for it :) I'll keep an eye out for it.
    Quote from AlexndrTheDecent

Do you plan on building a house?

Yeah, I'm going to try building one. I mentioned before that I'm not much of a house builder, but I want to give it a try for the challenge. I'm concentrating on getting to the end to make that place dragon-free first, though.

Entry #2 - Ravine exploration is worth the effort
Here we go! Best to start putting bridges between the gap.

Pretty dark down that way. Prepared a full stack of torches!

Coal coal coal. Best to take more to craft more torches later on.

I jump down that dark gap from 2 photos back and land into trouble! Also getting shot from behind by another skelly :/

Barely survived that! :o Had a few seconds to eat a porkchop until more trouble...

Eeek! They just won't leave me alone.

Having a peek from my desperate 1x2x2 safety closet lol

I'm looking like a pin cushion.

Danger averted! Onwards with the ravine exploration.

Nice! An abandoned mineshaft runs through this ravine :D

    Lets go in there!

    Loot and danger awaits...

    Iron! Need that stuff.

Time to build a small storage outpost.

Good chance to empty my inventory a little.

Cleared some of the wall to access the other side. The storage outpost is a few meters to the left.

Tunnel on the other side of the ravine.

Why hello spider! That coal is mine.

It did not take too long to find a zombie dungeon.

Got some good loot in the chests :)

After a while I expanded the storage outpost a bit. It was a good exploration run, ended up with 4+ stacks of iron ore, which I started to smelt, along with some cobblestone.

A look at my inventory after exploring the mineshaft. Found some good enchanted books. I started to chop a lot of the wood and fence posts, but I'm far from finished. Got a bunch of string from neutralizing cave spider spawners...that will be useful in the future for a certain farm in the end ;) Until the next entry!

Hello everyone. I'd like to present to you my new vanilla survival world through pictures. I have been reading through some of these topics and they have inspired me to give it a try.

I'll be playing this world vanilla (only optifine installed for better performance), on hard difficulty. I'm also going to try a little challenge: getting to the end and killing the dragon without mining any diamonds. That is something I've not tried before. So that is the first goal.

Please feel free to leave any feedback, constructive criticism, ideas, etc. I hope you enjoy!

Entry #1 - The beginning, and off to go caving!
I thought the name PhotoCraft kind of fits :D

And here we go! World spawn is in a ice plains biome. Nice, I guess.

Time to start with the essentials: First tree punched.

View from a few meters from where I spawned. Winter wonderland.

I crafted some basic tools and a sword and went off to hunt some food.

Chopped some more wood to prepare to go caving.

I didn't have to wander too far to find a cave entrance.

    Coal coal coal

Ah...now I can light up the caves!

Decided to stair case down this dark hole, to start looking for some iron.

Oh oh, that skelly is tracking me, and my hunger bar is half empty! I try to put a wall between us but fail :(

My sword breaks in the middle of the fight! :o Luckily I finish him off with fists/tools!

A well needed first meal. Also a well needed upgrade to stone tools and weapon.

    Found some iron nearby.

    Going deeper underground. :)

    Made a skelly blush.

After a while I mined enough iron for a full set of armor.

First encounter with a creeper ended up with a BOOM.

    Sheep like caving too!

Ravine! Yay :) I'll definitely be exploring this. Until the next entry!

No, you can't change it right now :( But there's really 2 problems here -- it shouldn't be also doing whatever you 'C' binding is in the first place. And additionally, I need to make it configurable, as people have indeed asked for this before. Next update I shall do something about that, thanks for the report.

The same thing happens when disenabling/enabling Auto-Tool with ALT-T, it brings up the chat bar.

Zombies will always be 2 punch kills after a 23 block drop, I believe it's because they have 2 armor points. Just have to craft a lot of stone swords or punch them twice.

    1. What are you looking for in a vanilla server?
I'm looking for a server that plays on hard. Also looking for a server that is 100% vanilla, not vanilla with bukkit. And most important: a good, active community.

    2. What do you plan to do on this server?
I plan to find a nice place to start my base. Planned facilities that I have not tried to build before: Iron golem & villager trading system. Play around with the new redstone features, automate stuff! To take breaks from mining and building I would then visit other players to check out their builds, help out if needed.

    3. What do you enjoy doing most in Minecraft?
Mining, building, living off the land. I love starting off with nothing, then working towards having many double chests full of items and a nice base to store it all in.

    4. If you accidentally cause a creeper to blow up a fellow server-mates build, what would you do?
Notify the build owner (if online) and repair the damage. Leave a sign if the owner is not online.

    5. You are very low on hunger and see a server-mates farm, what do you do?
I would ask for food if the farm owner is around. If not I would take some wheat and replant. Animals I leave be.
