posted a message on Looking for a program that can run mcpe in the background

If you are unable to find a way to run MCPE in the background (i.e. FirEmerald's suggestion doesn't work or isn't what you wanted), you might want to consider hosting a server with custom software. It may be a little advanced, but PocketMine-MP is great for hosting servers on desktop computers. Since PocketMine-MP hasn't officially update for the latest version of minecraft, you could use this version to get started. Once you install and run the setup, the server should be available to everyone on your local network. Since you are not running the game, you can minimize this window and run it in the background.

Here's more information on Genisys (the specific version of PocketMine-MP that I mentioned earlier)

posted a message on From where to Learn PHP coding for Minecraft PE Server Plugins?

Last I remember, phar format was some sort of way developers could hide their source code (probably some sort of archive format similar to jars with java). Nonetheless, this isn't good for you as you need the source to learn. I believe this site is capable of unpacking phar files. Give it a try and report back your results!

EDIT: The phar file format is just a way to archive multiple php files.

I would start by learning the language of PhP. I find that codecademy offers great courses on PhP.

When you have learned the PhP basics, check out a few plugin examples to familiarize yourself with the environment. For now, download a few plugins here and check out their source. I'll update this post if I find any better examples

The first method you posted is, I believe, obsolete depending on your iOS version. The second method I have not seen before. It could work, but I'd like to look into it more.

If I recall correctly, the texture files are stored in a locked directory in the apps sandbox. Thus, in order to alter these files and hence change the textures, you would need to jailbreak. If someone else knows a way that doesn't require a jailbreak, please share!

posted a message on What is this forum area?

In this section, members post advertisements for their servers (which I'm sure you've already gotten). If I recall correctly, most members run their servers with third party software called PocketMine-MP which was developed by the recently recruited mojang member, Shoghi Cervantes. This software is analogous to the PC's Bukkit server software in that it allows the user to create a fully customizable (with plugins) server. Most the servers you see in this section are run with PocketMine.

You are right about Realms being included in MCPE at one point, however, for a reason I can't remember, they were removed.

posted a message on In game maps have rounded corners?

Have you not yet fully explored all the areas on that (center) map? That might be why some portions are transparent, thus creating a rounded corner when placed.

When making suggestions, please do not propose a feature that already exists in another platform of minecraft (PC, console, etc...).

    Thank you!

Spawn looks great, nice (but small) community and a nice blend between vanilla and plugins for survival mode

I hope to see the community grow!

\o/ Man... that was a lucky guess!

Just be careful... Those files contain mostly chunk data, however, there is the chance you unintentionally deleted something important.

Anyway, glad you got your world back. It's always a shame when old saves become corrupt.

Yeah, the level.dat only contains minimal information now. Back in the good old days (before 0.9.0 I believe), the level.dat contained the players entire inventory. Then, the developers were prompted to switch the saving system with the introduction of infinite worlds. Now, the level.dat doesn't really do much. The inventory and much else is stored and compressed in the database (db) folder.

If you want to learn more about the world saving system, I suggest checking out MCPE Wiki's page on MCPE file formats

To be honest, with stuff like this, you simply have to try everything.

In this case, I tried to force the game to preserve some chunks (the important ones like your buildings) while overwriting some potentially corrupt ones. To do this, I extracted the "real" level.dat from the database folder and replaced the old level.dat. Next, I made MCPE generate the new world with the actual level.dat extracted from the database. Come to think of it, I'm not sure the extracted level.dat had any influence on the world. MCPE probably just detected a werid level.dat and decided to scrap it and generate a new one. Unfortunately, this can be dangerous as there's no telling what will be destroyed.

In the end, it happened to work out. I'd still be careful though.

Also, do you need the download anymore? I'd like to take it down :P
