It's because the options menu button requires changes to a game file that conflicts with other mods, so it is optional. The alt-c binding provides a way to get the screen even if you have that conflict, so it's actually even more important than the menu button.

I'll see what I can do. Sorry!

    Ah, that makes sense.

No, sorry :sad.gif: I can add something in the next version. But how does it affect you? Are you using ALT for something? It shouldn't affect you otherwise.

Yeah I use Z X C and ALT for movement, if you could make that bind configurable or disable it after the first use that would be great!
Honestly though I don't really see the point of it since you can get into the same screen from the options menu.

Is there a way to remove the ALT-C binding? It kind of interferes with my original key binds...

    Anyone??

Glad to see I'm not the only one experiencing severe lag.

I've tried every combination I could think of to improve framerate. Shutting off features, trying 5 different texture packs, changing window size. The shaders look great and all, and I love the hard work being put into it, but oh man does it rape the framerate. Game goes from smooth as butter to total lag every step once I have this installed.

Anyone have any ideas of what might be causing this? Or even better, ideas on how to balance it out and regain framerate?

It's not a system hardware issue. I run everything else I can think of just peachy. Including modern games at high settings. RAM isn't the issue either. 8GB just sitting there waiting to be used. This shader is the first thing I've seen lag on this system since I built it.

Try my suggestions on the last page.

For anyone with sub 30FPS in this mod, try changing Minecraft's fullscreen resolution in the Optifine's settings to a lower resolution. I've set mine to 720P and enabled enabled VSYNC, Triple buffering, and other higher performance settings in my video cards global control panel settings and now it stays a constant 30FPS in fullscreen mode.

Strangely enough, setting my monitor's resolution to 720P instead of using Optifine's settings does not give me the same performance increase.

Also, Sonic Ether, I'm sure you're still working on optimizations, but wouldn't finding a way first to limit shadows to only the surface provide a significant performance increase? It's probably not as simple as it sounds, but it's gotta be chewing up a lot of resources.

Not sure if this has been posted already, but I figured out that the shadows flashing on the leaves is caused by their transparency, disabling it via optifine gets rid of the shaky shadows on trees.

    Hey,
First of all, this mod looks amazing. I already can't play minecraft without this, heh.

However, I'm not really pleased with the color tone as I'm looking for a bleaker, more damp tone (think "cloudy day" instead of the "sunny day" it is now) so i tried disabling cross process and some other things but i didn't achieve the desired effect.

So I was wondering if there is some kind of variable or number in final.fsh that decides the basic color tone. If so, could you direct me to it? I would love to fiddle around a little and see what happens :smile.gif: (if it's any more complicated than that, I won't bother as I'm already out of my leauge with this haha)

I realize that this is a request out of the ordinary, but anyways huge props to you and all for putting this stuff together!

the latest version seems to kind of overdo it with the glare effect: go into final.fsh and change the value of "#define GLARE_AMOUNT" to something like '0.25' That helped me at least.

    Thank you again!

I;m not the best with adding GUI to the game. That would take awhile to do (or at least i would assume since i have found no decent tutorials on how to do so)
If you see a tutorial you can PM me the link or post it here.
Also I know this takes more time but heres an idea:
    Install mod
    Create world with kake generator
    Explore world chunks
    Delete bin
Login (will reinstal bin, AND ONLY THE BIN
    Play game
Create new world with normal generator

Now you have 2 worlds, one with my generator (for the area you explored) and a world that has default.

I'm not sure, but based on my understanding of how the game works, once you've removed the mod, wouldn't the generation of the first world revert to the original world type? Or is the generation information saved in the world save itself?

I'm sure there has to be some information on adding to the menus, because there are quite a few mods that do so and have done so for awhile (Like the Control Pack mod). Perhaps you could get in touch with some of the authors of those mods?

    Quote from LordPankake

I'm assuming he means to ADD an option to the list so it would be:
    Standard Generator
    Flat generator
    MY generator

Not to make a flat generator.

Um yeah, that's what I meant as well, sorry for the confusion.

I disagree. I feel that this whole thing is just the big, latest bandwagon for people to jump on board like sheep, and resonate the same complaints loudly.

Everyone who complains about this says the exact same things. OMG Uberhaxnova such an idiot, and all his fans.. idiots and whiners who got this ruined for everyone else. You all sound like drones repeating the same mantra.

None of you remotely acknowledge the actual issues with ladders at all. You just prefer to keep ranting about Nova and the people who complained. All on the same bandwagon.. all marching in lockstep.. like sheep.

What were the actual issues with the ladders then? All I can seem to tell from all this is that the collision box made life easier for everyone except people that made stupid ladder jumping puzzles in adventure maps. If anything, this 'fix' has all but encouraged people to make MORE ladder puzzles, not less.

This isn't primarily about Nova and the others, but the fact that ladders have become worse as a result of their inane complaining.

    Quote from subzero22

The reason some people wanted the ladders fixed this way is if you fall down a hole you can use a ladder to slow you down without damage. Before you would land on the collision box and hurt yourself. You can fall from the very top of the sky down to bedrock and have a ladder catch you with no damage this way.

There's probebly other reasons also but I can't think of them right now.

You could do this easily before the 'fix', you just have to fall down from the opposite side where the ladder is placed.
Anyways, this is technically considered to be an exploit of the game's physics, and making exploits easier does not necessarily warrant a change in how the ladders work.

And of course this is the person who barely reads the thread. By the way, there not "Broken" just because you cannot stand on it doesn't make it so. I think Adventure maps can make small update, or you know, skip the freaking room(s).

I'd beg to differ. No one I've ever spoken to before about MC complained about the ladders; they did their job perfectly and as one would expect-I'd say that the ability to stand on top of a ladder far outweighed any small disadvantage one had by not being able to start climbing it from very close angles.

This is simply an example of a developer kowtowing to a very vocal, but definitely a very minor fraction of the MC community.

I'd love to download this map gen mod if you can find a way to make it into another world type like flatlands. ^-^ As it is I don't feel like having all my maps being this, even if it is pretty cool ^-^'

    This. ^^
With world types already built in to the game, there's no excuse not to do this.

Everyone is complaining about nothing. if you don't like the fix, there's a mod that removes it. Don't complain on the forums ._. Also Nova wasn't serious in that rage video(atleast I think/hope so o.o).

To some it's a fix, but to many more it's nothing more than a nuisance or a solution in search of a problem.
Why shouldn't we complain? I'd say this "fix" has ruined far more things in MC generally than it has "fixed" for parkour maps or whatever.
And if there is a mod that puts it back in, I doubt it works for SMP.

The removal of collision boxes for ladders has made using hatches at the top with them much more difficult, and it seems like it was a "bug" only to a very few, but vocal, people.

Needless to say, Jeb, I am disappoint. :sad.gif:
