    Question not, the electric boogaloo!

These ideas are still great. Are we any closer to realizing them with mods or official updates?

What do you want to get out of joining the server?- Looking for a survival server where I can build grand things and have them remain for years to come. I do not want a server where admins give themselves diamonds and other resources through console commands. Everything ought to be legit. Preferrably hard settings.

What do you bring to the server?- My witty charm and my devilish good looks.

Preferred Contact Method?- PM me here on the forums.

Wow, I'm a bit shocked that there's quite so many responses and offers for us to play! Thanks a lot guys!

I guess vanilla would be a good idea considering some of my group are less than tech savvy people. I still like the idea of a more threatening environment, but you can't have it all, can you?

I'm still a bit lost as to what the various mods mean. What's the difference between a bukkit server vs a non bukkit server? The ability to easily install various mods? I looked up some of these on the wiki, but I'd like a list that better explains what each mod does.

posted a message on Help us find our home!
Heya folks! I represent myself and 3-5 mature players looking for a place to settle down and play minecraft for the long haul. Most of us have families, and we're all in our mid to late twenties. We don't want to grief all day and shout racial epithets. We want a stable survival server where we can build in confidence knowing we wont lose our work.

While we've been long time MC players, we haven't done much with modding. I've been doing some research, and I'm still largely clueless as to what mods do what. We would be mostly interested in a vanilla experience with tougher than average survival rules. Some fellow on these boards by the handle of insurrection laid out some good ideas. PvE vs PvP....we don't want people destroying our works, or stealing our stuff.

One idea I've heard before would be a red sun rising and a horde of zombies attacks the server. It would be nice to.have some kind of environmental threat where we have to band together to survive.

We've tried doing our own servers in house before, but something always seems to happen where we don't keep it up. We really want to play in the same place, though our schedules are different. So I'm looking around for places to call home. None of us have done this before, however. I wonder what I ought to know before we try building our pixilated empires on a public server?

Is it expensive to "rent" a server? Are there legit sources to rent from, or are most run by some dood in his mother's basement? Are rented servers typically up 24-7?

Thanks for reading through my post if you made it this far. I'd appreciate some input!

I support these ideas, and look forward to a mod containing them. Tell the casual whiners to go back to their iphones.

posted a message on Minecraft frequent lag spikes on good computer?
How dare we imply that minecraft isn't perfectly pieced together. Search this section briefly, and you'll see plenty of these threads. No, not everybody is affected, but there's a significant minority that is. What's worse, is that this bug renders the game unplayable, and nobody seems to understand the whys behind it. Here's what I see all over the place:

Hi, I'm a long time MC player. I used to run this game at max settings, but now I get awful lag spikes. I have a <moderate to beastly> computer and regularly run <game that requires much more graphical intensity> flawlessly. It doesn't matter if I lower the settings, run optimine, close all background programs, enact a Santeria rite, etc...it just starts brutally lagging. Nothing has changed with my system. What's going on!?

All the "lol it u" posts really aren't helping. If there are legions of d00ds who haven't changed their systems, who ran previous versions of this game flawlessly, then perhaps it really is "in the coding." Instead we should be seeing what it is that we problem children have in common, and see if we can isolate the issue.

posted a message on Crippling lag spikes in Minecraft - from around 1.1, seems to have worsened in 1.2.3
I'm right there with ii_H_dot_B_ii and Leredron. I haven't had my minecraft fix in awhile, and there really isn't any viable way to get around this, I fear. Hopefully enough of us are having this issue so that we can get proper attention.

posted a message on Minecraft is too heavy for me!?!?!? wtf
This is the video memory leak that seems to be plaguing a lot of people, myself included. Somebody said something about faulty-ish video drivers that were rushed out for Diablo 3. DId you update your driver recently?

If you're anything like me, you haven't had any issue playing MC in the past. Personally, I think the newest update of MC is to blame -- not our systems.

posted a message on Random Minecraft Lag Spikes
I have the same issue myself now. Although it was preceeded by block textures failing to load (IE transparant blocks). Now I can't play the game at all past a certain point. It's almost like you've got a 10 minute window to play the game, then bam, you're screwed. My maching runs fine, this is definitely a minecraft bug, and a recent one at that. Been playing this game for a long time now flawlessly....now it's nothing but trouble.

Win XP 32bit 2.4 ghz quad core intel, 4 gigs of ram (windows xp only sees 3) GTX 260...I play WoW, D3, SC2 all perfectly fine. Minecraft was on that list too, until recently.

Lowering the render distance and making the graphics simpler doesn't help. I'm running no Mods.

posted a message on Blocks wont disappear or load textures
I don't know anything about no servers. I'm just playing single player.

Now I'm getting massive lag spikes. This is really odd...minecraft has never been an issue on this computer before. Hell, I got fed up and played diablo 3, which runs perfectly. Only minecraft is giving me trouble. Wonder why that is...

Yes, but this is single player. As in just my computer. Why is this still happening?

I know I don't have the beefiest computer, but I've got more than enough to run this game well (lag has never been an issue in the past). So why does it all the sudden hate my life now, I wonder?

posted a message on Blocks wont disappear or load textures
So, this wasn't an issue a few days ago, but now evidently, it is...

On single player when I mine a block, the animation plays out, and the collectable block drops. Only, the block is still there visually. Sometimes the blocks will go away after I mine for a bit, as if the game temporarily realized its mistake. But that doesn't happen often, and what's even more odd, there's plenty blocks that load without textures. They're all see-thru and I can see really far down and off into the distance. I can usually see the caverns of lava that run through the underground. It gets really damn hard to navigate the world in such a way...

This error would happen from time to time on multiplayer servers. Usually it was the server's fault, and logging out (or restarting the server) seemed to fix things. But now this is happening on single player games of all things. It's really diminishing the enjoyment you can get out of this game.

Hmmm, without connecting to a server, this'll get annoying pretty quickly if you and 3 other friends want to play this over time.

If I were Mojang, I would capitalize my I's and use the proper form of "their."

As much as I hate the whiners, I can't help but agree that mojang did this to themselves...

    For justice.
