    Hey Theo - Long time no see! Haven't played much Minecraft in a while, and was looking at some mods when I rediscovered yours (again)! It's good to see that you've kept this mod updated, I've already installed it onto my Skyblock world. Although I'm still a bit hesitant to use it, considering the cost is (still) 6 wood planks haha! (Would love to see a crafting update soon-ish!)

    How has the whole mod come along? Dannyboy007 still co-working the mod with you or have you taken the responsibility?

    Nonetheless, hope all those mod spotlights you've been getting have done your mod the justice it deserves. PM sometime

    Quote from BlackGyver

    Even though a chopper / recon helo would be a great addition to Flan's planes mod, this mod could use some much-needed improvements.

    First of all, as several people said, the recipe needs to be really much more expensive. 5 wood for a helicopter that will shoot unlimited rocket, with unlimited fuel ? Come on. The helicopter also needs to be really more fragile; as it is, even people willing to explode their helicopter struggle to do so (as seen in a mod review video).

    Copy some other vehicle mods out there: add a fuel tank and the need to refuel your helo (with coal/charcoal, compatibility with mods and their respective fuels such as BC and IC2 is always welcomed). Some helicopter "add-ons", such as chest capacity/extended chest capacity/extra seat/extra firepower are also some easy ways to improve the lifespan of such a mod.

    Last point: the helicopter model. The glass/screen is pretty neat, and gives a nice little recon helicopter feel once you're in the vehicle, but the model of the helicopter as seen from the outside is pretty bad. Either drop the "Two sticks added to a boat" feel and create a decent-looking model (ie. something along the lines of http://i.imgur.com/rfkPC.jpg ), or play fully with the "cheap" feel (ie. the Biplane of Flan's mod).

    My two cents.

    I would tend to agree with you in some of those areas, and i am almost certain, given the time and dedication from Dannyboy and Theo, they would achieve both a more advanced model, with the added features.

    As for the crafting, i am 100% certain that 5 wood is not going to be the final recipe, and i do believe it has been discussed before in the forum. Read it up if you want to know more.

    Nice model basis though. I would have suggested just an R22, but given the rockets, i would see your reasoning.

    Hopefully this provided some insight.

    TLDR; go F*** yourself. haha jks

    Have you guys checked out our new public SMP/PVP server?

    thx.mclayer.com

    Hope to see you there!

    Connection Issue:

    Internal exception: java.io.IOException: Bad packet id 230

    ----------------------
    This was the error i recieved when trying to connect to SMP. I'm not too sure how far your knowledge of computing extends, but i copied that if you wanted / needed it.

    Thanks in advance if you can / can't help. If not, I'll look further into the problem personally to see what can be done. :)

    sorry when i'm annoying ... but

    I think that the chopper is waaay to imba (6 blocks of wood ?! )
    you could make an easy reciepe before you make "the real one"...
    like this :
    :wood: :wood: :wood:
    :Glass: :Furnace: :|:
    :Iron: :DBlock: :Iron:

    ( or iron block instead of iron ... )
    ( and coal as fuel , and expensive ammo )
    ( sorry Quazarcannon2312344 ... I know programming is difficult )

    but I'll say it again: "great mod !"

    (i'm using it since beta ~~ 1.6/7 ... i think)

    HAHA, I'm sorry if i came across as a rage person for all the questions. Don't apologize for your ideas they're pretty decent.

    As a long-time lover of this mod, i feel it is my responsibility to clear the air for some of the new people here.

    As it has been stated throughout the forum, over and over again, all these points and issues you've brought up most likely have been answered. Here are some of what I've recently seen.

    1) "OMG! Great mod! When is it going to be SMP available?!?!?!" - The guy who does the coding (Theo) is working on all the maguffins. He does have a life outside the forum, so don't expect it to be finished as soon as you make a post. SMP capabilities is a lengthy and tough process to complete, but give him applause for the hard work on it so far.

    2)
    "Hey you should add the (Insert awesome helicopter here) to it. That would make this mod AWESOME!"
    NOW LISTEN UP! - Keep the suggestions up. They're all amazing, i agree with all of your guy's suggestions. But understand that, again, coding just that 'simple' helicopter (which is still awesome, nonetheless) is very time-consuming and difficult. If you have kept up with the updates, you will see that the helicopter model is changing (improving as well).

    Again, don't stop the suggestions, they're fantastic. I'm just as eager to see this mod blossom just as much as you do. I mean, why else would i type this really long post?

    3) "Oi, dude, hey uhh, can you plz change teh controls from 'Y' to 'F'?? Thnx" On the last point, I noticed some people have asked for the controls to be changed, as to make control easier. This has been brought up many times before, and if you look for it, you'll read from other posts previously that you can customize the controls, i.e. You can change the fire button, etc.

    I hope this long post has successfully cleared the air for those of you with questions. Oh and also, show your support for the mod - Get the banner!

    Hey i took a shot at trying to code an item for crafting. Just an item which does nothing but be used for in more crafting. Any gaping holes there?

    package net.minecraft.src;

    public class ItemRotor_Blade extends Item
    {
        public ItemRotor_Blade(int itemIndex)
        {
    {
    item.setIconIndex(ModLoader.addOverride("/gui/items.png", "/16x16 bit png/completed parts/ItemRotor_Blade.png"));
    }
            CraftingManager.getInstance().addRecipe(new ItemStack(itemsList[shiftedIndex], new Object[] {
            	"  x", " x ", "x  ", Character.valueOf('x'), Item.ingotIron});
      Rotor_BladeID = shiftedIndex;
        }

        public static int Rotor_BladeID;
    }

    The code is compiled from Theoxylo's code and a search aroung the web. I take no credit for this.

    This code (hopefully) allows one to craft the rotor blade item i posted inside my recipe list.
    *Fingers crossed*

    Hello once again ( Insert Name Here )!

    I would like to know from Theo, can you import models from 'Techne' into your javascript?

    The program allows one to export a model into Java form, but because of consistent complications with my computer, ( it crashes every time i try to export this java), i am unsure as to whether it would work or not.

    Hopefully yes, if not oh well. The model i made is a basic 'Bubble 'Copter';

    http://www.dynamicaviationhelicopters.com/photos/winter13.jpg

    Good luck in the continuation of your project! :Diamond: :Diamond: :Diamond:

    *EDIT*
    Due to the listed complication, it does not currently have a texture, which was also broken. I'm currently looking into it.

    i love it but maybe a little simpler please less diamonds more gold and no blocks for the body make the body like bottom 5 spots are mine carts and top is iron ingots
    just some ideas to make it a little easier

    The whole point of the diamonds and iron blocks is to make it so that you can't get the helicopter as soon as you spawn, so that you would be required to explore the deep caverns before you can fly around with a gunship.

    tldr? - It would be OP

    *EDIT*
    Also note that the crafting design is not actually the one which may be implemented, this is just how i would think the project could go towards.

    I made this as a pet project to show my support for the mod.

    The final decision is up to Dannyoboy and Theoxylo.

    Hello. I'm posting this as my revised edition of what the craftables could be like, for when the mod reaches the stage of implementing a crafting recipe into the mod. (To save space, i've put it in the spoiler)

    These crafting recipes follow from the first materials needed to craft future parts of the helicopter.

    Apologies if some of the pictures are a little too small, if you zoom in, you can see what the images are.

    The following recipes are quite simple, but if you're a slow reader, this may take a slow time to read, naturally...

    -----------------------

    Rotor Blade

    -----------------------

    Rotor Head

    -----------------------

    Main Rotor 2 / 3 / 4 Blade

    2 Blade

    3 Blade

    4 Blade

    In conventional helicopters there can be a range of number of rotors, from 2 up to 5 ( Highest i've ever heard of, may be wrong)

    -----------------------

    Cockpit

    -----------------------

    Tail Boom

    -----------------------

    Tail Rotor

    -----------------------

    Tail Pylon

    -----------------------

    Tail Segment

    -----------------------

    Body

    *Please note - These are Iron blocks, not to be mistaken for the wool block.

    -----------------------

    Engine
    CURRENTLY UNDEFINED

    -----------------------

    Body with Engine

    -----------------------

    Wheel

    -----------------------

    Suspension

    *You're not seeing things, the suspension is made of wool.

    -----------------------

    Full Wheel

    -----------------------

    The Helicopter

    *The end result*

    -----------------------
    -----------------------

    Please take this into consideration, if there are any criticisms, please be constructive. Thankyou!
    And goodluck to Dannyoboy007 and Theoxylo with the ongoing mod! :Diamond: :Diamond:

    On another note, say i was wanting to create an object larger than the 50 x 50 paramater size of the graph, would there be a way to increase it?

    Or when you save the image, can it be scaled to be made larger?

    hmm... it could be that your .net installation is corrupt.
    Does it happen when you click on "open" in the menu, before the popup appears or when you select your model and click "open" in the dialog?
    If it's the latter send me the tcn file and I'll take a look - if not, you might want to try to reinstall .net4

    To answer your question,* in ways i can understand*

    I open the program, it asks me to name and optional class a new model ( i selected dont show again afterwards )
    So once it has dissapeared, open file > open - then the crash message appears, so i believe that was your first idea.

    However, i found a way around it, with not much hassle, which still allows me to use the program

    I open my model, and work on it, then deliberately cause it to force save / backup which allows it to *save* if you could call it that.

    If you wanted to continue this further, reply. I'll get back to this tomorrow.

    HA! It worked! Thankyou so much, i am very much so looking forward to creating my own models! Thank you , it is funny because my computer is usually named as the one ''I've never seen this error before''

    This has made my day!

    :Diamond: :Diamond: :Diamond:

    *EDIT*
    I can open techne, but trying to open my model results in quicksave with the message ''its about to crash'' and i can't load my model. Any suggestions?

    *Double bad edit*
