    I no longer crash when selecting a spell in the inscription table as I did in 5.52.003, but now I get 'missing texture' appearing in some of the slots, this is presumably where it is trying to render an invalid rune (which is why it was causing a null pointer exception before)

    I'm crashing when I attempt to select a spell in the inscription table, from a little extra testing I found that it crashes only when selecting certain spells, and different spells for different worlds, so at a guess it's an issue with their procedural recipes, though I'm sure you'd have a better idea of what may be the problem.

    If you want some more information such as world seed etc for helping to reproduce this error, feel free to let me know.

    I've been thinking about the way you'd be implementing spell casting, (i'm all for it btw) I just really am not sure that using another hotbar for spells would be a good idea, it would be inconvinent to use for one thing, and it would make the spell casting just feel really mundane and somewhat dull.

    The solution I'd propose is an idea I'd come up with maybe a year or so ago. What you would to is richt click with the want to start casting, then an overlay pops up (not to be confused with a gui, you will still be able to walk around) and the main feature of the overlay would be a floating, turning ring with the aspects availible shown (or just a set of symbols) on it and a 'cast' symbol (unless you have a better replacement for it). you would right click again as the 'cursor' goes over an aspect and it would get added to the spell, Once you have selected the aspects you want you would select the 'cast' symbol, unleashing the spell. (or with the case of continuous effect spells such as the current fire, lightning and firewands do; infuse the wand with the spell.)

    To make it even more interesting, semi procedural spells could be implemented, such as including the fire aspect on the end of the excavation spell it might make it smelt things you break (or have a chance to), or perhaps just increase the time the spell lasts for, or the rate or power of the effect.

    And to make more complicated spells more difficult the ring's speed could increase as you add more and more aspects to the spell.

    Again, just an idea I thought I would at least mention.

    thinking about the whole many / few aspect stuff...

    how about composite aspects? that way you could have the fundamental aspects which could be more easily obtained by splitting the composite aspects, but creating the composite aspects may be considerably more costly to do, giving reason for specific item collection for aspects.

    Just an idea, I'm sure you'll do the right thing with this.

    Also small thought on warded jars, we really ought to be able to fill them with ordinary fluids. (also, how about big warded tanks made from warded glass? again, just an idea)

    I noticed that threre is an API folder in the mod files, how would you reccomend setting up a development environment to use it?

    I've set up the normal forge dev environment but I think I need a decompiled copy of the API to be able to use it unless I'm mistaken (|I'm not used to forge, done plenty of modding in the past though. so please excuse me if I'm misinformed)

    Having recently gotten back into modding I've run into a bit of an issue with entities that I had never hit before (for obvious reasons)

    Specifically before the client-server split this would work fine in single-player:

    ent.setVelocity(vec.xCoord*ItemPopVelocity, vec.xCoord*ItemPopVelocity, vec.xCoord*ItemPopVelocity);

    However now I have the issue of the entities not appearing, presumably because the client is never informed of the entities existance (but walking over where the entities are will still pick them up. and to provide a bit of context, this snippet is run on an update tick of a block, which is no longer handled by the client IIRC)

    so, what do I need to change to make this inform the client of the entitiy?

    Item frames work fine in single player for both me and my freind, but it works for neither of us in multiplayer.
    it disconnects whoever places an item frame from the server with the message 'internal server error', but the server remains up regardless, the same thing happens with placing paintings and as far as we can tell this only effects those items.

    Has anyone else exprerienced the same issues?

    That is all that is happening. I will have to re-install this mod now since i updated forge and realized that all torches stopped burning out. Let's just hope it doesn't crash asking for a missing function.

    I don't even know why Forge includes that file if nothing changed in it when it get's reobfuscated. (Unless of course, world.class is changed to that instead of the obfuscated name because of the Forge API and the old name is removed completely)

    If that is the case then BAH!

    from what I can guess it's part of a tweak to change the block solidity system to allow placing torches etc on stairs etc.

    I'd bet that the conflicting class is the torch class, hence why they don't burn out when the forge class is used.

    lanterns and glowstone arn't that costly once you get to the nether so anywhere you go frequently should be safe :wink.gif:

    I've followed everything but I can't seem to make it work, it worked fine initially when I checked out the mod about a week ago (when the textures were missing).

    This is what I do when installing:

    • Starting with the original Minecraft.jar (deleting the META-INF of course.)
    • Installing ModLoader.
    • Whether I install ShockAhPI doesn't matter in this case it seems.
    • Installing ModLoaderMP Client.
    • Adding the QU_ModProperties.txt to the bin folder, with the content saved into it.

    Minecraft works fine here until I proceed with the next point.

    • Installing [V1.0.0]TorchBurnOut [V2.5] Client

    All I get now is a black screen where the "Mojang" splash screen is supposed to show and the window freezes. And it's not like it's crashing and ModLoader gives me a report, no this is just pure freezing so unfortunately I cannot post a crash report of some sort.
