posted a message on Minecraft Alpha 1.2.6 vs Minecraft 1.0.0
    1.0.0 is better

But still 1.0.0 is a fail. It isn't done yet. Bring back the good old alpha days with secret friday updates adding 1 mob and maybe a new block.. Bring back the fun of adventuring and the sake of adventuring all the new exciting stuff.

Alpha was more fun, but 1.0.0 is better because its an improved version.. It just isn't feeling as completed as i thought it would be!

Can't say I see the point, but you can try Linux with software OpenGL courtesy of: http://www.mesa3d.org/

The name of the card i "Lynx3DM" by "Silicon motion". A reaaaally bad card..!

posted a message on Project: Run minecraft in every computer
    Hi!
I have two computers fully capable of running minecraft. So it is not the problem that i cant play it.

Bu i thought: How many computers can we actually make running minecraft. Run mincraft means that it does not crash. Even if it becomes a slow slides show it "Runs it".

So: My first try is a computer with a 1 GHz processor, 512 MB RAM.. And a very bad 8 MB videocard. It does not have OpenGL. Thats why it cant start minecraft..

So i downloaded a program named "SciTech GLDirect Configuration", which is capable of using D3D to emulate OpenGL.

BUT: The videocard does neither have D3D..! It runs Empire Earth fine, and it runs Warcraft 3 fine.. It runs Counter-Strike fine. So i think the power is there - if it is somehow possible to emulate OpenGL?

NOTE: This is just because "we can" - not because i want to play on the machine

So anyone has any suggestions so far? And does anyone have other computers we should try to get minecraft running on?

The best computer for minecraft is a laptop. Many can run it smoothly. And you can bring it to your friends, so you can play together.. More fun together, than alone with nice graphic!

Another nice deivce is a UMPC because you can put it in you (huge) pocket. Its just a problem that they are extremely expensive and performance is often very limited.

    But bring us a budget..!

A function in the client to change skin. So we dont have to go in to minecraft.net to do it :dry.gif:

A UMPC is quite expensive. They often cost above 300$ on ebay (in good condition, or a older model), and up to more than 1000$ for the newest stuff.

But it would be nice to know if anyone else playing minecraft on them?

    Minecraft pocket edition is out.

But why scrap the UMPCs because of that. A UMPC is not a netbook but a < 7" computer, which run full-blown x86 OS like Windows.

I have a HTC shift, with a intel GMA 945, 1 GB RAM, and a Intel Stealy A110 with 800 MHz. Minecraft run smooth on lowest settings without monsters. Enjoyable - espicially with a mouse!

I also have a OQO 01+. It can't start minecraft, because i cant get OpenGL hardware accelretion to work on the Lynx3DM videocard. Else it should be able to run it(If someone have a fix, please tell me).

Anyone else playing this game on UMPCs?

    Hi!

There is requested a new strategic mode here: http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/498725-colony-mode/

Its not a new game mode, because it is integrated with survival. It will combine a RTS with something like the "Minecolony" mode http://sites.google.com/site/minecolony/

I have uploaded a picture showing the basics of the idea here: http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/30/minecraftstratergymode.jpg/

You will be able to toggle between normal survival, and strategy mode by pressing F5 (or another button).
The gamemode will be a little different, but will add a new dimension to the game!

If i get some respons, and there is a good modder interested in making this idea real, i will gladly help putting some more flesh on it. Sadly i cant mod myself :sad.gif:

I dont know if 3rd person view is moddable?

Thanks to brodur for the genius idea!

    Cheers!

I think it is a very good idea - but need some more work, like:

    A house:

    Produces "workers"
    Cost: 10 :cobblestone: and 10 :Logs^:

    A delivery house: (Farm)

Workers deliver the resources they have collected here.
    Cost: 5 :Logs^: 5 :cobblestone:

    A mine:

workers will mine from here, and find other underground resources.
    Cost: 20 :cobblestone: 5 :Logs^: 5 :grass:

    A Smithy/Forge:

    Equip workers with swords
    Cost: 50 :cobblestone: 50 :log:

    Possible to be modded?
