posted a message on Furniture sharing thread!

Since everyone wants furniture added, but the developers will probably never add it, I say we do the best with what we have now. If you have any unique or useful furniture designs, upload a screenshot of it, plus a small decription of what it is. It doesn't have to be yours originally, as long as someone hasn't already posted it, you are free to post other peoples designs! just don't take credit for it if it's not yours.

    Alright, I'll start.

Here's a dining table design that comes with some fancy chairs. (the chairs aren't my idea, but they're really cool) It looks really nice, even though it takes a lot of space. Worth the extra space though

I agree with Zion, a lot more of it is about personality. If your videos are good and people like your personality, then they'll keep watching. I'd give you suggestions for what to upload but I'm probably not a good source, as I barely watch minecraft anyways.

Working on the small island right outside the waterfront area that I was working on. Decided to make the islnad just a housing zone, not anything special. Currently have three houses with full interior, a corner store, and some town houses.

Also I might be making changes to one of the houses, which I really don't like a lot, but I don't know what to do right now, so I'm just leaving it the wayit is for now. If you have any ideas for how to improve the one in the back of the first picture please tell me.

You should try getting some large tree templates or something, because the structures look extremely grand compared to the terrain, and they almost look out of place. You should get some huge trees or do some terraforming so that the terrain looks like it fits the build

Build version cos my version does not even allow villager trading.

Oh, the city is in 1.10

Looks like a spiffy city! I'm totally digging the modern designs! Though, I can't help but notice that all your builds so far are modernized. You probably should add areas that have older architecture, or places that are not necessarily contemporary in design. That'll probably make the city feel more real. You don't have to, just making some suggestions. Also, maybe put some thought in alleys or "behind the building" areas (those trash bins and staff doors need to be somewhere after all).

This is a more modern area, but there will be an old victorian style section, and another section with 20th century and european style buildings. I personally don't like alleys, which is why I didn't include them, plus they feel out of place to me. Though I might be able to add some in another section, where it probably will fit in better.

I'm loving this, great work so far! :)
Great interior work, I often don't even bother doing that.
The diagonal building looks great too.

Thanks! The diagonal building is also one my favrites, though the interior was a challenge

Can you show them in default texture pack please? I'm sorry, I'm used to the normal pack.

Ok here's some, but since flows HD has different color clay it will look really weird. plus I make some block choices in Flows HD that I would never make in default

Like where it is headed, although I'm not the biggest fan of having the ultra-flat world painter-made ocean, and in general waterfronts aren't on piers, but on the mainland. The waterfront in most cities is also extremely densely populated but not always by residents, also workers. That's what flows is meant for- modern building.

Yeah, im not a fan of the ocean either, but I can't really do anything either, since I actually don't have either worldpainter or voxelsniper, my only tool is worldedit, which is why it's very flat. To be honest terraforming just isn't my thing, so I try to avoid it. Also I just call it the waterfront, It's just based off what I've seen, and that was the best name I could think of for it. This is just one area of the city though, so there will be more modern sections.

The fireplace is a good idea, so I'm going to see if I can find space for it. The glass panes could possible be replaced with glass blocks, though the're meant for a ticket booth, which is why I used panes.

Hey guys, this is a city I'm building in creative, which I've been working on for about six months, but theres been a lot of breaks in between, So if I had to say the time I actually played, probably 2 months. I've wanted to build a city for the past two years, but this is the first time I'm actually satisfied with the outcome. And this is the most progress I've made in all those failed attempts, so yay! The part of the city I'm currently working on is the waterfront area, which is basically a harbor that's for smaller boats.

I'll be posting updates whenever i get a good bit of work done. Also any constructive criticism is welcome, since my only source right now is my brother, and he tries to ignore me, so yeah. Hope you like it!

For those wondering, I'm using Flows Hd resource pack, and am in version 1.10

    Pictures:

The first picture is just an overview of the city.

The second is a picture of the bridge and the small island which I am working on.

The third is a office building, home of a large shipping company.

The fourth is the inside of a subway station

And the fifth is the inside of a high class restaraunt.

posted a message on literal half-slabs

    Thank You!

    Quote from Mastermined»

    Please not.
Minecraft is supposed to be a blocky game, that's the whole aesthetic. And stairs and slabs are just not-cubical enough to look different, without looking out of place. If you go further than that, and add these quarter slabs, I feel like it would just become too smooth, Minecraft would lose it's blocky aesthetic.

Like people have already said, you can have snow 1/16 of a block thick, and this would allow for nicer aesthetics, plus the fact that sometimes, with only slabs and stairs the look is too blocky, which is why this would be nice. also it would be great for thin layers and the tops of tables.
    Quote from EndyEnderman2»

But I think they could add sideways slabs and stairs... can help in structure patterns and what not

I don't think sideways stairs and slabs will ever be added is because notch didn't want them, though now that he is gone, maybe the developers will add them.

As a builder it always annoys me that the thinnest you can get for a block is a slab, so I thought, what if you have a literal half-slab! to craft you would simply replace the blocks in the slab recipe with slabs, in other words you use 3 slabs instead of 3 blocks. These are a quarter of a block thick, and 4 are required to fill a whole block space. You would also be able to place them on any level of the block, meaning that is is not restricted to being on the bottom, like snow layers.

If anyone can post this to the minecraft suggestions subreddit page that would be nice, because I don't have enough comment karma, So I can't post.

posted a message on Need Building Help!

So, I really want to build a medieval city, but there is one problem. I don't have a good design for the houses. I can make certain designs, but I never can find one that I like, there always something off. I know how to do the roof and the shape, I just can never create a good design for the sides that I like. So if anyone that knows how to create a good design for the side of a medieval house, can you please help me. Also, if possible can you provide pictures, so that way it's easier to see what your talking about. Thanks in advance

I want to ability to place food down. Maybe something like you can place a bowl down, and it works like an item frame because you can place any food in there, except soups, who would just be placed by themselves, and cake obviously can already be placed.
