posted a message on Forge 1.12 not showing up in launcher

Click on the three lines to the right of the word "Minecraft", then on "launch options", then "add new". Whatever forge versions you've added should be under the "version" drop-down menu.

posted a message on Microsoft/Mojang Deal Confirmed.
Honestly, I could see this going in either direction. The extra money and support may enable the Minecraft team to really pull out all the stops and make the best version of Minecraft possible. Microsoft bumbling around and interfering with the Minecraft team's vision and just being Microsoft might keep the game from ever reaching its true potential. It's far too early to tell either way - all there is to do is watch and hope.

I only know 2 things for sure: (1) I'll keep playing Minecraft as long as there are good updates and mods coming to it, and (2) I am so glad I'm not a moderator. Those guys are gonna have their jobs cut out for them, I think.

posted a message on Help! My skins on the Skindex got deleted!
    Quote from CatDragon

I am having some skindex problems too, although it's my fault, I need some help. I was editing other people skins and posting them with different names and descriptions, and I felt bad. So, on my own skins page, I apologized and said I was going to be giving credit to originals, but that was after I said, "Feel free of reporting me if you'd like, I am sorry." I took a break to eat lunch while in the middle of editing descriptions to give all credit to originals and putting the original creator's usernames, and when I came back my account was banned. Someone had reported me before I could finish giving credit to others, I know its all my fault, but I wanted to make a new skindex account. But I can't because you can't use a same email multiple times. Is there a way, if possible, to use the same email to make a new account?

I'm not familiar with this skindex site, but your best bet would probably be to send an email to the site's administrator(s) (there should be a link somewhere saying "contact us" or the like) politely explaining the situation. They may be willing to give you a second chance on the condition that you don't steal other people's work again and follow the rules in general. Of course, they may also just tell you to screw off, in which case you're SOL. But it can't hurt to (politely!) ask.

    Quote from Turtlicious
Crafting Altar seems to have a broken texture, double checked with my texture pack to make sure it wasn't an issue on my end (it looks like this in the default texture pack as well.) Also, I can't right click on it, also also, I can't use in the multi-block structure.

All I can think of is to check if there's an ID conflict with some other mod's item (especially if it's an unimplemented one or one not normally able to be carried in inventory), and to ask if you have Optifine installed, which has caused other problems with this mod and is pretty buggy in general. If neither of those is the case then I got nothin'.

    Quote from YaNKeeR

I am not sure if it is Optifine or not, but when I open the Arcane Compendium, the words are all run together. Like there are no spaces between them. Does anyone know why that might be happening?

That's because of Optifine, yes. Given that optifine tends to cause rendering bugs in other mods (Thaumcraft 4's nodes won't be shown from behind blocks even with goggles of revealing on, for example), I'd guess it's a bug in Optifine rather than in AM2.

    posted a message on Ars Magica 2 - Version 1.4.0.009 (Updated February 8, 2016)
I had a nasty crash a few days ago and am just now getting to reporting it. I was in the middle of trying to summon the winter guardian (probably an ill-advised move given that I was level 51, but oh well), and when I built the first snow golem it died because I stupidly had put it too close to a torch (or are they just supposed to die when built near a winter guardian summoning setup? I admit I never build snow golems in vanilla, so I don't know if they die near torches or not). A few seconds later I got this crash:

Your problem is that your spell had 3 elements to it (1 shape and 2 components), while the most basic crafting altar you can build can only process spells with 2. Hence the earth-shattering kaboom. An easy fix to this is to use lapis lazuli blocks instead of glass, which allow +5 elements instead of +1 and should be fairly easy to get (especially with a fortune 3 pickaxe). A wooden plank/lapis block altar will allow for up to 6 elements in a spell, and once you upgrade from wood to nether brick (simple once you find a fortress) that gets bumped up to 8, which should be perfectly sufficient (spells with more than 8 elements tend to cost more mana than you actually have).

Ok mod is Un-Installed, im not gonna deal with it or read 57 pages just to find an answer.
Nore deal with people giving smart ass remarks while hiding behind the internet.
    Im done.

Yeah, some people like to treat questions as a platform to show off their snarkiness. It's an internet-wide problem, for everything from Linux to car repair. Try not to let it get to you too much. And to answer your problem, it's caused by Optifine. Uninstall it and the compendium should be readable.

@MPetz: I get that this question has been asked and answered a fair bit, but being snarky in response isn't helpful, and a search can fail if the person having a problem doesn't phrase it correctly (keep in mind that they don't know to search for "optifine"!). It takes just as much time to just say "It's an optifine issue, uninstall optifine and it'll work" as it does to post a picture of the search bar and a bit of sass. Or just link back to an earlier post where the problem was solved and say "this post has the answer to your problem". Remember that people seeking help for problems are usually frustrated, and in no mood to put up with some stranger sassing them.

And Mithion should probably add "OPTIFINE WILL CAUSE THE COMPENDIUM TO NOT HAVE SPACES IN BETWEEN WORDS" to the OP.

Mirrored glass is uncraftable - if you put the ingredients in an arcane workbench without a wand in it you can see the resulting item but (obviously) don't have the vis to make it, but if you put a wand into the wand slot the result disappears and you can't craft. And yes, I have enough vis in my wand (a thaumium bossed silverwood wand, though I tested with a normal starting iron-capped wand and it didn't work either).

Would you please edit the OP to mention that NEI has a mob spawn overlay that can be turned on with F7 (default)? I saw this feature in a twitch stream and couldn't get an answer to which mod was causing it, leading me to search through both this forum and google for like an hour, before I asked again and someone finally told me it was NEI. I mean, the one singular mention of the feature in the OP is a single line in the changelog! If there was a mention of the feature and a screenshot I would have found out about it much much sooner. One of my absolute pet peeves is when some piece of software (mod or otherwise) has some obscure feature that can only be found either by scouring the changelog for the single line that mentions that feature was added among the many many bugfixes, or bugging people in chatrooms and forums until you finally find someone who (1) has the knowledge you seek, and (2) doesn't feel like being a troll and wasting your time.

At least this time I know who to yell at to vent my frustrations.

You should add drive forms and dual-wielding somewhere down the line. I totally want to glide around Minecraft in Final Form w/ ultima blade and oblivion.

"Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic."

Matter can be formed from sufficient amounts of energy, as demonstrated by IC2's Mass Fabricator. All matter contains amounts of Vis. Makes sense that a technological device could find some way to convert electricity into vis, even if it's just a Mass Fabricator duct taped to a Crucible.

The main problem with that would be balance. If "power to vis" is too cheap then you could just hook up 50+ solars (or a good nuclear reactor) to your system and churn out diamonds all day. If it's too expensive then there's little point.

Looks like I found a major bug with seals - the magic/magic/magic combo doesn't work. Like, at all. I put the seal down right next to my thaumic machines, put the three magic runes in, and the boost bar in the machines doesn't light up at all. Actually they'll occasionally light 1 unit for a split second, then stop lighting up.

I noticed a minor texture bug (I think it's a texture thing?). If you look at taint blocks while underwater, it looks like they have water streaming down the sides, even though they're completely submerged in standing water. Not really a huge issue, just kind of odd.

...Shouldn't you ask in the mo creatures thread? I think you'd be more likely to get a reply there.
