Unfortunately the ceiling is horrible, it's just a massive sheet of glowstone. I need even lighting though, and I think it's the only way.

D'oh, under-floor lighting! Time to dig out and replace the entire floor.

Is there a trick to breaking and replacing the block under an item frame? Sometimes they pop off. Is it just a random tick or timing thing?

Yes I lucked out and found a couple of veins about 500 blocks from my base. I spent ages before strip mining and caving but never stumbled across any. Later on I loaded up uNmINeD and found that, indeed, there are virtually no veins within 500 blocks of my base!

I can't afford the iron! Have you ANY idea how much this room used up? Twenty-two and a half stacks of iron. Yes, villager golem farms exist, but I haven't gone down that road. I also didn't want to do the gold farm in the nether thing, so the compass directions are made of yellow wool.

Most of my world is fairly primitive. I'm still living in a cliif-side cave. I have a slime-block-flying-machine sugar cane farm, and about 20 carefully curated villagers in "snug" accommodation!

But my magnum opus in this world is my 19x19 map room!

I'm particularly proud of the compass rose in the bottom right corner.

I need to pretty up the walls a bit with some pillars and bookcases I guess.

Those "Voltex" or "Voltax" gadgets that are being advertised here on the forum are a scam.

Here's a great video explaining what they do, and why they are junk:

posted a message on New house appeared in my village (no it didn't)

I had no idea that this could happen. A new path and house has appeared. How and when does this happen? There's no mention of it on the wiki.

*Edit* I'm an idiot. This didn't happen. Trying to figure out how I thought it did... something to do with an old map...

Ah, the map had trees hiding the house, and as I approached I saw the house appear when the map updated... thought the house was appearing, but it was trees disappearing.

Is the 200 blocks thing a threshold? Will they walk back 200 blocks to a village but no further? I think this has answered a problem I am having...

posted a message on How to play on LAN - one can't connect, the other can't see

I have created an issue on the MultiMC tracker.

Going by messages on the MultiMC discord, it looks like it might be to do with account authentication, one or other client thinks It's not got a legit account.

Did you try with the vanilla launcher?

Okay so I have installed the vanilla launcher, and I can join her world! That's good enough for us for now. We can look into installing the vanilla launcher on hers if she wants to join my world but probably we will just go with this.

No, we tried using the vanilla launcher on her computer a few months ago when she started playing but we couldn't get it to install so we gave up and used MultiMC. I've just always used MultiMC, FTB, or Curse/Twitch as I used to play modpacks a lot.

Progress report: if I enter her machine name with a colon and the port number that Minecraft reports when it opens to LAN, I get the same error (string length).

Two of us, on the same local network, both Windows 10, both using MultiMC with vanilla v1.18.1.

If I open to LAN, she can see my machine and try to connect but it fails with"recieved string length is longer than max allowed ( 22>16)". I briefly see that she joins my world and then leaves.

If she opens to LAN, I can't see her machine at all, and can't connect directly using machine name or IP.

We have both tried turning off Windows Defender firewall, but that doesn't help.

Have seen a tip that we both need to be in the same Windows Homegroup but homegroups don't exist in Windows 10 any more.

Both machines popped up the Windows dialog to allow Java to access the network and we said yes.

    What else can we try?

    2) When swapping runes on the altar, the altar gets clipped to the capacity of the prior tier, which does seem reasonable as it's temporarily unqualified for the higher tier.

You can avoid that loss by using a Wand of Equal Trade to replace the runes. Other block-swappers may also work, such as the Resonant Exchanger.

You need stuff on the plinths to change the biome. It's a little convoluted, and will change when I implement it in 1.10.

I have a single block of ice. Maybe I need more? In any case, I thought it just defaulted to plains if it couldn't find a biome to match the items.

I haven't seen any recent posts on Ritual of Gaia's Transformation. I'm running Regrowth modpack 0.8.8 which has BloodMagic-1.7.10-1.3.3-13. I can't get it to work.

I've seen two layouts online, one with eight Arcane Plinths around the Master Ritual Stone, and one with four plinths around and above it and a perimiter of Large Bloodstone Bricks. Both give the message "Nothing appears to have happened..." when I right-click with the Awakened Activation Crystal. I have 1.64 million LP and a single block of ice in one of the plinths.

I also tried it with 4 and 8 plinths on the same Y-level as the ritual and the bricks on the Y-level above.

    Any ideas?

Does anyone know how the Alfheim Bee works? Can I use it to generate mana, and if so how, other than by dropping the drones onto a Beegonia?
