Apr 16, 2012I had a similar problem (I even opened a topic about it, it's somewhere in this section)Posted in: Computer Science and Technology
The way I fixed it was I completely uninstalled my graphics driver and then ran a registry wipe program, and then installed it again.
Haven't had any problems since then.

Go to Control Panel -> System -> Hardware Manager, and deactivate your graphics card. Reboot if the change hasn't been hot-saved, and use your computer as long as you need to consider that the bug doesn't happen. It will then clearly be the GPU's fault.
Right, okay - I'm doing this and I'll update with the results.

Does your motherboard have built-in graphics support? If so use that, and see if the problem persists.
I think it does - when I was switching my graphics cards I had to use it... it looks pretty shitty xD
By the way, how do I access it? Do I have to uninstall the gpu drivers so it has to use the built in one?

You may have a virus what antivirus do you have?
No viruses, trust me about that.

My first instinct would be that your GPU is failing - do you have another graphics card you can substitute, or on-board graphics you can use for the time being?
EDIT: as for the above, a virus will not do that.
I have my old ATI radeon 4770 HD, but the reason I replaced it was that it did a similar thing where it would just randomly turn off my system....

This happens every few hours out of nothing. The last time it happened, I snapped a picture and I just happened to be working in 3D Studio Max on something.
Basically the screen gets these purple lines and it's all ****ed up, then it completely freezes the system and then it gives me the blue screen of death. When I restart, it's like nothing happened for another few hours...
-It doesn't only happen when I'm using cpu and gpu intensive programs like 3DS Max - sometimes I'm just browsing youtube
-it started happening about 3-4 days ago
-all drivers of my system are updated.. I'm 100% sure about it
-I clean my pc from dust every month (it's 3 years old, the GPU is 10 months old)
- http://i.imgur.com/Hn7yb.png here's a pic of my system characteristics, it's a little outdated so don't look at the driver info
Can anyone help?.. I've no idea what's causing this.. is it the graphics card?
Apr 10, 2012Hey peoples of the internets, it's me again. I know I spam this board with my thoughts every once in a while, but bare with me xDPosted in: General Off Topic
So yeah, I was flying today on an airplane back home and I was thinking - the people of today are really really ungrateful for some of the really awesome things in life. You know, 20 years ago or maybe even less, flight was almost impossible for the common populous, but lately it's been getting more and more common for people to use air travel, even for smaller trips (12 hours in a car), and I was thinking - why don't we appreciate it?
I mean, when the engines of the plane start and we lift off of the ground and I'm looking at the entire city and then later I can see several cities and rivers and mountains, how doesn't anyone go "HOLY ****ING **** THIS IS AMAZING", because that is exactly how I feel like, every time... No matter how many times I've been on a plane or even in a car, when I think about how much we're jumping over our own limits as creatures (if you can even call them limits, in my opinion even legs are really awesome, but whatever), I'm just blown away. And every time I talk to someone about it, they tell me that I'm way too easily impressed, which is crazy! What is there NOT to be impressed about when you're in the sky, like a bird!?
So I developed a theory. I remember one time I was looking into the biology of addictions (how exactly do you get addicted to a drug and then eventually overdose - why do you need higher doses), and I came up with an analogy with this unimpressedness of society:
See, when you take a drug for the first time, the effect is always the strongest. That's because your brain doesn't have that many receptors for that drug and they get overloaded. The brain can't tell that the drug makes you feel awesome, so it goes "better make more receptors, we don't want another overload like that..." and make more receptors it does. That's why the next time you take the drug it's significantly less effective. So you up the dosage and eventually you overdose, blah blah.
Now, society of late has been subjected to this overload by all the awesome things in life so much, that we need something even MORE awesome to feel impressed. When you spend your entire life in this technologically magical world, you start not noticing how awesome everything is, because you have nothing to compare it to anymore.
Think about it - if someone takes some kid's iPhone away, he goes into withdrawal - I've seen it.. Same thing with the plane and the car - first it was horses and carriages, then came cars, and then suddenly - ****ing planes!! And people even find ways to ***** about planes too, because they have already seen the maximum level of awesomeness.
I remember hearing some guy who came from serbia to austria in I think 15 hours with a car, because he was stuck on the border for 2 hours (there was some sort of problem), and he was so upset about it. And I thought, 100 years ago, that sort of expedition would take months and people still wouldn't complain!
I dunno, what do you think? Why are we so ungrateful for this amazing world when it comes to technology? :S
Mar 27, 2012I would be so glad. So many things that I could change (assuming that my life would be the same and at one point I'd have gone to sleep, with the dream immediately continuing my life, only in my head, just the same way it would be in real life).Posted in: General Off Topic
Still would be glad though - I would know so much more things and problems would be so much easier to solve.
Mar 27, 2012I fell in love thrice.Posted in: General Off Topic
Didn't work out the first time.
Didn't work out the second time.
I have a feeling it won't work out now either.
Oh well, life goes on - probably wouldn't have been all that fun anyway.
Mar 26, 2012Source is of course much more advanced in terms of game mechanics and visuals, but I spent more time with 1.6, so I like it more.Posted in: General Gaming
Source felt really unnatural for me the first time, cause it seemed so close to 1.6 (I played the source version of de_dust2) ;D

I had some toast and an apple.
I had an apple.
Funny you should ask though - ever since I started watching MLP, I've made it my goal to eat an apple every day, not only cause it's healthy and all, but also to remind myself of MLP and specifically Applejack!

I really do hate this species and want most of it dead.
Don't waste your time hating this species:
1. nothing will change and you will only hate more;
2. there's plenty of awesome things in life to make up for some of the people out there;
3. watch MLP more often - it really drained my head from ANY kind of hate I could have ever had;
Have fun and don't over-think stuff too much. Life's great, the people may not be, but who cares about them? We're all a big blob of matter anyway and we might as well enjoy it while we can.
Peace off! ^_______^
Mar 14, 2012For a first song, it's pretty cool.Posted in: Culture, Media & Arts
If my word has any worth, here's some criticism:
-During the wubwubwub, try adding some filler sounds;
-Maybe make it lower;
-Add some more synth sounds;
But I like it right now too - great first attempt!
