Frantically, his fingers juggle through his pouch, trying desperately to sift through the rifle bullets he held in surplus for his handful of .45s. Above his head, wood splintered as a round hit the busted down wall. C'mon! C'mon!, he thought as he rummaged through his bag. A rounded bullet brushed his finger, and he'd hit gold. Loading the magazine into his weapon, he scurried across the dirt, riding under the line of sight of his opponents. Taking in a deep breath, he'd give a quick, beating breath before turning on his heel, rounding the corner and unloading.
Backstory:
Maximus Iucundus Petronus was born in 2283, around the time of the Annexation of New Vegas into the NCR. Growing up in Vault City, in California, Maximus was named after his great, great, great, great, greate grandgfather, who was a sergeant at the time of 'the war'. As a child of twelve, he would often wander off from the city, and shoot at Mole Rats with his Varmint Rifle. One day, he encountered an NCR ranger under attack from a Yaoi Guai, taking aim, he managed to snipe the creature square in the head. After speaking with the man he rescued, he had aspirations to join the NCR, and help change the grim news coming from the east.
Joining the NCR at the age of Thirteen, despite protests from the recruitment officer, he trained to become the best he could be, far surpassing men in the NCR who were twice his age. Being deployed on missions assisting people all through the Californian Commonwealth, he earned a nickname "The young gun" [pun, :tongue.gif:]. After Nine Years in the service, The president (Probably not Kimball by this time.) of the NCR personally bestowed upon him the rank of Veteran Ranger, having been the youngest person to have been awarded this title.
