Your stats would actually be 17/19/14/13/11/11, and you would add 2 to one of them because you are a Half-orc.
And the reason players are starting with so much gold is mostly for some wiggle room in terms of equipment, because some classes need more equipment than others and the default amounts don't really allow much for those classes
Also, maybe invest in horse armor.
And a thing that I forgot to add to the sign-up sheet is a 'Skill Ranks' listing.
Yandak is accepted.
/edit: Just checked, a Heavy Horse is 200gp normally and 300gp combat trained.
Greetings, I am here to start an RP that will be much more...crunchy than what many of you are used to. I realize the many issues with running a proper RPG over a forum, mostly with dice rolls and battlemaps, but I'd like to try in spite of that.
The system that will be used is going to be Pathfinder, which is a heavily modifed version of Dungeons and Dragons 3.5. You can find most supplements for this system as d20pfsrd.com, free of charge.
This thread will be for discussion about the campaign and for people to join.
I intend to create the IC thread the Sunday if I have 3-5 players.
The following changes are being made to the system for the sake of fun and fewer headaches:
We are ignoring equipment encumberance. You are still weighed down by worn armor as normal.
Every class that gets 2 base skill ranks per level instead get 4.
You can use Teamwork feats with party members even if they don't have them, they still gain the benefits too.
Combat Maneuver feat trees are rolled up into one feat each with the prerequisites of the first feat.
Precise Shot is rolled into Point-Blank Shot.
You can Power Attack and Deadly Shot as per the feats without worrying about taking said feats.
Martial Classes (Those that mostly use weapons instead of magic) get Combat Reflexes and Combat Expertise free.
We are using the Word Casting System.
All classes are considered proficient with all simple weapons.
We will be using Straight Point Buy for ability scores, with a minimum stat of 10 and a maximum stat of 20. This means that instead of spending 17 points to get 18, you only spend 8. Ability Scores start at 10, and can only be negative because of
Firearms and ammo will be worth 10% of their listed price, Early Firearms are considered Simple Weapons, and Advanced Firearms are considered martial weapons.
Drinking a potion, Alchemist's extract, or other liquid magic is a swift action the incurs Attacks of Opportunity.
All Core, Featured, and Uncommon races are available for play, and Custom races are availble with an 10 race point limit that may only be spend on standard traits.
All official classes are allowed except for Anti-Paladin, and I might allow a third party class if it doesn't strike me as too weak or too powerful.
All alignments but Chaotic Evil are allowed. Please note that an Evil alignment is not a reason to back-stab your party and fornicate with their corpses. You can be a ****, scheme, and be Evil, just don't over do it...or just make sure to do it cleverly.
We will be starting at level 1, everyone will be starting with 500gp for equipment, 25 points for ability scores and 2 traits.
Dice rolls will be done by me, with my own dice. Please do trust me with this, as I will likely start up the fiat if someone is having terrible luck, but don't expect special treatment outside of that.
When the IC thread is posted, please only post once for each combat turn and edit the post if you changed what you meant to do.
This is going to be a semi-serious game, and tone is going to be all over the place depending on how serious I am feeling at the time. Warning: There will be puns, dark humor, and the game may get creepy at times.
If you have any questions, this is the thread for it.
Now, for the format for submitting characters;
Name
Race
Alternate racial traits or Custom race traits(With rp cost)
Class(Archetype(s))
Special class choices like bloodlines, schools, domains, etc...
Stat Line, which should look like 10/10/10/10/10/10 in terms of format and strength/dexterity/constitution/intelligence/wisdom/charisma in what stat the numbers represent.
Alignment
Traits
Skill Ranks
Feat(s)
Equipment(With gold value)
Three sentences describing their personality.
Three sentences about their history.
Three goals.
I think I will use the method I mentioned earlier and trust any players that come my way not to raise a stink when their character misses. To be frank, I am more likely to fiat in favor of the players than in favor of the NPCs.
That could easily be fixed by me rolling everything, but then someone getting really ty rolls would probably accuse me of lying, then the game would fall apart.
There has got to be a work around.
How would people feel about doing a non-freeform game, using an actual roleplaying system?
I'm thinking Pathfinder, because it is fairly easy to learn with some help, it has active support, and you can access all the supplements for free online.
Dice rolling might be an issue, since I highy dought that this forum has any in-built mechanic, but I am sure that there is a simple solution.
Now... like Uno said, a government doesn't collapse when the president dies. He's just a figure head. It will collapse if the entirety of gov officials have been whipped out. Or people have gotten so out of control that they tossed out the government, and began following the "Voice of God" or "the voice of reason" who is actually some nut case. You can thank Stephen King for showing how people are sheep.

It doesn't seem like they even intend to use the book for anything except maybe some setup for 'Only one man can save the world!'
