My grass is just like "yeah sweet, I don't think I'll grow anymore."
Dirt just lies there being dirt, even if its in a field of grass and in direct sunlight. I have my server properties say to grow-trees=true but that didn't help either. What do?
Because certain players frequent the server and come in to build stuff sometimes, which I usually let them in to do before I go to sleep. I don't want to have to shut down my server just to stop a bunch of jerk-offs from wrecking it, the whole grief ordeal is really starting to ruin the game experience for me. Without a reliable way to protect your server (besides making it private, which kind of defeats the point) its not really worth building anything since its just going to be destroyed almost immediately.
It's been happening for about a week now. If it were a one-off, I'd consider maybe its a mistake, but each night I check and double check that its locked and it still happens. I can't lose sleep monitoring the server at night to see how its happening, but it's either some kind of glitch/hack or something to do with grievers making themselves OP. That guy who said he hacked the client sounds plausible.
I've got a spawn prison, right? The right kind, one block width and two block height made by modcrete, so theres no space for anyone new to escape without me letting them out. I've never actually witnessed anyone escaping, and as far as I know that kind of prison is inescapable >_> right? Well, every morning I wake up to a new truckload of grief. I've never seen anyone get in or out or delete the modcrete, and only two people are admin, my girlfriend and me. And one of her creations was destroyed which she spent quite a while on, so I doubt shes the one doing it.
In short, have people figured out a way to escape every kind of spawn prison? Are people cheating their way to being admin? If it keeps up I'm going to have to make my server private, which defeats the purpose of having a server for people to build in =\
I just had an idea which I imagine would be super helpful in the fight against griefers.
What if there were a function to 'undo' all changes made by certain players? If someone comes in and does a lot of damage while the admin is away, they can find the players username and type '/revert Griefers_name' or something which would cancel all their changes?
I'm no programmer, but it might act like this. Basically, every player has an ID number, and when they edit a block, that block is signed with their ID. If someone called Griefer with ID #777 came in and started deleting a heap of stuff without being stopped for quite some time, all the spaces they'd changed would have the ID number #777. The admin then types /revert Griefer and it would undo all changes made by player #777 since their entry.
To wygo, SilentPigeon, azen or anyone else wondering where Crash City went, I'm back at school and haven't had time to sit down and re-forward ports and all that stuff. Sorry. It'll be back one day =0

What an odd little error.

Its kind of complex, but it could be effective.
