hi there, just cause i keep getting a few private messages with problems - i am right now really busy with a lot of other stuff (working days 12h+)

basically if you have any problems with the shader, you may probably be able to use some older shader files (i dont really have the time to go through the thread and check; on my hardware its all tested an runs, but it is always possible that on other hardware there are problems)

also if there is anybody wanting to make contributions to the mod, private me, if you find solutions to some problems i am also always interested to integrate this, if it doesnt take too much time

and thanks to anybody who helps out on the thread!

now there is a modloader version

"Next week: Minecraft version 1.2.6 comes out." - hopefully not

Alright, this is what I'm getting:

    Any idea why?

    GPU: ATI HD5870

    EDIT: oh it was Optifine...
Anyways, on default settings the reflected geometry is just black.
I think disabling surface effects fixed it.

love that result!!! really.. very inspiring screenshot :)

and here some more explanation, university takes all my time right now - cant really check out the forums and barely find time to update - in addition id prefer to do NEW stuff instead of having to update what is made obsolte by minecraft updates... (the last time i have been active a little, i tried to find a way to avoid this updating misery... but i couldn't find a way back then.)

sorry if anybody is anoyed by the fact that i am not very active right now

Notch recently commented on wanting to develop a "Firefly-like" space-faring game. Citing the classic "Elite" game as his inspiration, he is considering doing a game very much like it, "except done right."

Thanks for this inspiring and motivating announcement, it is important to move on. (Also i really liked firefly - this series also made me think about creating a game that captures the spirit.)

the minimum OpenGL mod requirements are OpenGL 1.3
    with ARBVertexShader, ARBFragmentShader, ARBShaderObjects, EXTFramebufferObject
(therefore i would say opengl 1.4 is necessary, unless the extensions are supported on a lower OpenGL version)

the highest glsl used is 120
(on wikipedia I found that OpenGL 2.1 may be necessary to support that)

and it is fine if you discuss graphics hardware, but no need to get offensive :)

    Quote from JackTDawson

Why ? Because again, lack of the correct Extensions for OpenGL. This is a HUGE problem with game developers in general because they have to run a routine that checks to make sure all of the extensions they need are setup for that graphics card.

do you have any references concerning that problem?
what i did is to generally prefere core features over EXT and EXT over ARB, which seems the most stable approach to me

I am a C++/OpenGL dev in an Open source game, so I do know well the trials and tribulations of trying to balance OpenGL across both Vendors and Generations within the same vendor. And that is before you get into the vagaries of the OS (OS X and pre-Lion vs Lion on the same hardware = makes me want to burn things)

Do you have any suggestions for debugging without access to the troublesome hardware? (This just made me think about emulating different graphic cards on newer ones. Would make debugging easier. But I am very uncertain if this could be possible.)

(PS: i am not working on an update for this right now due to time constraints)

Necro, I told you that you can remove this from the incompatibilities list. =p

This has been fixed in the version 2.3.4 of the MCPatcher.

    ops must have missed it...

Also GLSL mod lags a lot, so with WS will lag a lot more. Because of that, don't make WS GLSL-mod dependent..

I agree. (Still a lot of people ask for that. Some GLSL things would have to be disabled to achieve maintainable fps.)

"Programmer isn't supposed to have a life. Programmer is supposed to program. If he can't devote every second of his life to code, he doesn't deserve to be programmer. Yeah, that was for you, Necro and others who didn't update their mods unless new MC update made your mod obsolete."

Minecraft is definitly not my only programming project! :) But I guess I have to admit, I am not only a programmer.

That's your problem. WS isn't compatible with Sonic's or daxnitro's shaders.

//edit: Also this needs your attention:

    Remember: infinite diamonds.

ello darkhog, i remember your name as well :P

i am kinda trying to come to some agreement concerning the glsl mod compatibility

nope not necessarily, like the last post, your shader folder isn't at the right location

The red fog bug happened again, in SSP this time, and only with Water Shader (Minecraft Vanilla + Water Shader only, no other mods), so it can happen with the normal and modloader version :

@Necrowizzard : You have the seed, and the location where the fog will turn red (hopping that you will be able to reproduce it...)

    Edit : Whoohoo, 500th post ! ^^;

ah thanks, let me try to...

I'm having a LOT of troubles with this mod..
Whenever I start up Minecraft in fullscreen, it after logging on it black screens, and I can start it up just fine in the small screen, but since I"m using a laptop the screen is too small
Also if I start it up in small screen then go to fullscreen, my minecraft just says it runs out of memory, which is strange because my computer far surpasses the system requirements for Minecraft.
The mods I have installed, in order, are:
MCPatcher's HD texture and font fix
    Zombe Modpack
    TooManyItems
    Water Shader Mod

If anyone could help it would be greatly appreciated.

in your config set the 'anti_aliasing 2' to 'anti_aliasing 1'

alternatively you can assign more memory to mc

i might as well add an exception tha decreases the anti aliasing automatically... (havn't thought of that yet :S)

Too bad I am not a JAVA programmer. I am a C++ / OpenGL programmer. If these were all made with C++ I would have helped to fix this long ago.

if you can program in c++ or c# you can definitly also program in java; but that is just my opinion
