posted a message on Can't play on my favorite server, network code is messed up.
Alright, first of all I want to make it clear that I am not complaining. I am seeking help and also want the devs to be aware of this, though the latter is unlikely.

I've had this problem since the before-times. It has existed in classic mode multiplayer, and it still exists. And it affects only the servers I want to play most badly.

To put it simply: after connecting to the server, network starts messing up. The server gets all of my packets, but I hardly get any of its packets. It essentially becomes a one-way connection, which of course is unplayable. Usually I won't even get to load the spawn area, and fall endlessly. I do get the first few chat messages usually, and some entities. Sometimes (rarely) I will be able to play fine but laggy (>400 ms ping, estimated ofc).

I know of one other person who has this problem, too. We are both from Israel and, IIRC, using the same ISP, but I don't think this is the problem. I have absolutely no trouble playing any other game, and I cannot stress this enough - this problem only affects specific servers, that other players can play just fine. An especially good example is that that friend I mentioned earlier made a dedicated server once. I'm not sure if he was using his own computer or a remotely-controlled one, or one on a LAN... Really don't know. Point is, I was able to play it just fine, but he couldn't.

Well, that's about it. Please help me.

Even the worst network lag doesn't get to 2 minutes for a chat message.

Believe me, I know what it was. It was the same problem, except this last update made it do it for everyone all the time instead of for some people sometimes.

At least it'll get fixed now... I hope.

The only other time I experienced something like this was with the ICP. I had minutes of lag, and one guy there told me to run it in a window instead of fullscreen, and it worked. No lag other than of the regular kind. No idea how to explain it, I guess graphics took too much priority over network or something...
It's a bit more complex with Minecraft it seems.

I've had this problem ever since SMP was out. Strangely, it only happened with some specific servers and not others.

I also know someone else who always had it. We tried to play together once (with some other people) on his server (not hosted at his house), and he had the problem but I didn't, so it wasn't to specific servers either.

Also, The problem would not happen about 1% of the time.

I have this problem on my favorite server. I used to try reconnecting repeatedly until it worked. Eventually I just gave up. :sad.gif:

posted a message on Is there an indev to creative map converter?
.dat files with indev blocks still have all the data in them - the only problem is that the server and the game don't understand what the new blocks are and crash. If you open them in OMEN they still show up :wink.gif:

That is assuming OMEN works for you. What do you mean 'it doesn't like your computer'?

Basically it sends you an access code to your email, which you should then pass to your friend. You both use the same code. I haven't tried downloading it more than once, and I assume neither did my friend. I assume there is some system in place to prevent that.

I think, if I'm not mistaken, that WoM lets you just put the files in the skins folder directly, so you don't have to put the file in the .jar.

Client = any way to play mincraft, including the web client.

What EXACTLY did you do and how EXACTLY did it fail?

That has nothing to do with it. Only the FIRST TIME in a line you need to put the dash there.

Edit: okay I admit, I made a SMALL mistake but most of the stuff I said are true.

The only reason a color code would fail, is because it has another color code before it. Because the server automatically adds the yellow color codes to the message, the client would use the first color code (yellow) and ignore the second, leaving it a &. This is why you have to add a char, so that there would be at least one char between the two color codes.

In a single line, you only need to add '-' ONCE. (assuming the server automatically adds the color code, which in this case it does)

Now how about YOU test before disproving ME?

Edit: in case it's still not clear, it IS the client.

    Ok, so just an update.

With MCSharp, the color codes work in:

    rules.txt
    wellcome.txt
    server.properties (just the MOTD).

However, with Rules and Wellcome TXT's, you have to put "-&<colorcode>. Don't forget the " - " or it won't work.

Also, the number of color codes per line is limited for the TXT's. I've tried having 4 different color codes, and only one or two of em displayed color. The rest were just &'s.
That's not a problem with the server.
(People who know, correct me if I'm wrong)

The server actually doesn't even notice the color codes. It just sends it as text. The client is in charge of making the colors. Now, what I've noticed is that sometimes, usually when there is lag (don't ask for an explanation..), the color codes get ignored and instead the client actually shows you, for example: I ate &3a banana!
Here comes the freaky part. If the server tells the client that there's the message: "I like eggs & salad", the client crashes, because it doesn't see what the hell happened with that &.

    It's weird.

And, in short, not the server's fault.

Sorry for hijacking the thread but I don't want to make a new one and this one seems close enough :smile.gif:

Just wanted to throw in with the praise. I've been running MCSharp for over a week with none of the problems I've read on here and have had up to 12 people online at one time. Please pay no mind to the nay-sayers and the people who are rude and demanding (gotta agree with mastermind).

This server is fantastic and after reading all of this forum I'm very appreciative for what you've done. Can't wait to see your future updates.

The only problem I have had is when trying to create a /newlvl. I haven't seen anyone with this problem (or if someone has then I just forgot about it from the earlier pages). Doesn't matter how I try it, but when I try to make a new level, regardless of the size I make it, name or block type I get: "Bad map type parrameter" (it is misspelled like that). I'm sure I am missing something.

I currently have 5 maps, but one is unloaded. Is it just as simple as completely getting rid of one of the maps and then trying? Can I only have 5 maps total, regardless of whether they are unloaded or not?

My apologies if this was mentioned earlier and I simply forgot.

And don't start hating yourself like some people might, you're not stupid for not seeing that :wink.gif:
