    There could always be a fast ( pre-rendered overlays), fancy (3d, rendered), and off (off completely), since they are ambient.

    ehh, cauldron was never good. Only good/working mod/plugin platform was bukkit with mods back in 1.2 on tekkit. Sponge is best choice, otherwise crashes and other incompatibilities will be big problems.

    I agree with you entirely about making the game feel more alive- it does feel very empty right now. Fireflies in particular sound awesome, imagine a group of fireflies lit up at night a la the Good Dinosaur.


    Oh and huge yes to adding fish. Atlantis is getting crowded lately, we need to send the newcomers somewhere...

    Since they don't have drops and are just atmospheric, you could always have a entity limit setting for them.

    By bugs I only meant the ones mentioned, not little crawly ones, will clarify that, and add birds.

    I was thinking they should add some ambient mobs to the game, like as in bugs and such that are very small and don't drop anything, but maybe give some xp, for example, fireflies, they are little yellow dots that light up the game in forests at night in small amounts, or maybe in swamps, little gray bugs like mosquitos that are very small, and don't do anything but for the general feel of the atmosphere, I personally think these would have little negative effects and would fit in and make a better game atmosphere. I also think that there should be stuff like small little fish in water that don't give anything (like very small stuff like in swamps, tadpoles), just to make the water more lively, that way its minimal game changing, and makes the atmosphere feel better like I mentioned before, I think if properly done this idea would work out well.

    EDIT: By bugs I mean only the ones specified, and also as Wolftopia sugested, I think small birds would work great.

    Total support, I agree with everything, except I think that the favorites is useless, since we have favorite tool bars, and I think that shortcut is a bit weird, maybe make favorites built into the tool bars section? Just drag in drop in basically.

    I think this, if added would cause a HUGE outrage in the community, as someone like me who as been playing since alpha, I would not update (although I rarely play on 1.8+ anyways). Along with this, this does not fit in with the game, and just isn't put well together in the idea, would just be a major annoyance and would ruin the games playerbase.

    tl;dr: Doesn't fit in, would cause an outrage, would lose part of playerbase.

    I came in expecting to hate this and actually love it. You've clearly put time and effort into organizing these ideas. The nether really does need improvement and this addresses some good things. Specific criticisms:


    -the "gloomroot flower" is overpowered, and its effects don't really make sense. It should be redesigned.


    -the giant "wayfarer" is too strong and too big. It's a good concept but the unused Giant mob shows hitboxes REALLY don't like to be that big. By shrinking this enemy somewhat I think you have a solid enemy.


    -the "enchanted collar" size increase should be less than 2.0x, probably around 1.4x


    -the "ghast egg" doesn't have enough utility, and rendering ghasts passive seems like a good way to nullify part of the nether.


    Well done on developing your thoughts.


    I came in the same way, and think your points are great additions to this thread.

    Whoah the format on that is out of order and duplicated or something, I would fix that, kind of hard to understand out of order and duped.

    May I ask, what makes this better than using a modpack? (as I think there was a modpack that also had an official server that was very very similar to this, forgot the name.) What makes it unique from a normal zombie clone? I have seen most of those features in modpacks and other servers as far as I remember.
