I think you will find that you are being treated poorly because most of the people who play this game are little 10yr old boys, who have no sense of whats right and wrong, and who obviously don't have parents that teach them proper ethics.
The way our world is going, well, its sad.
I am currently raising a daughter, who is now about 3mo old, and I have already started making plans for teaching her proper ethics, and especially protecting her from the train wreck we call the internet.
I used to have a really nice creative server, where one of our moderators was a female, about my age. She and I had a very professional relationship, and we allowed anyone to enter our server. I would give you the server address, but it was lost when Minecraft came out of the beta phase.
Good luck on your quest to find a better server, and more respectful players. Try to search for servers owned by adults, and not little boys.

I agree. I think it may depend on the biome? I have my home base in an Extreme Hills biome, and it rains way too much, especially because its all glitched out and raining above the clouds.
It's because the clouds existed at their current altitude back when the map limit was still set to just below them. When the map height limit was doubled, it stopped making sense.

It must be a bug they forgot to address after raising the height ceiling in the game. I hope they fix it, or raise the clouds. I am started to get annoyed by getting rained on while I am trying to build my watchtower.
Its all based on a probability equation. You could have gotten zero, or you could have been swimming in them. The best way to dig a quarry is with stone tools. Only waste iron on the important stuff. It works for me every time. I am swimming in iron (which I use for minecart railway transportation systems). Good luck!
I haven't been on Minecraft in a while, and I noticed that not only does rain NOT come out of the clouds anymore, but that it will actually follow me above the clouds.
I understand that having rain come out of the clouds calls for a lot of particle rendering... and am ok with that being eliminated.
However, why is it following me above the clouds? I hope that is some new bug, and they will be repairing it.
So, uh, is the old server coming back? Or is that map/server gone forever? If the old server isn't coming back, will we be able to start fresh, and still have a creative mode?

The grey is the "fade" distance to hide the draw distance limits. The clouds are the white things floating around.

No. The rain works perfectly fine, except that it follows me above the clouds.
