Thanks for sticking through this. I've updated the program to remove the dependency on the VC runtime DLLs. Hopefully that should fix your problem. If not, I'm out of ideas as to what could be wrong. I also fixed the shaders so that they should compile for people with non-nVidia cards.

That made it work, and I must say it's an impressive tool for navigating maps. Now I'll just have to make due with my single core cpu, Radeon 9800, and 2gb of RAM blazing away at 3.0 to 8.0 fps. Thanks again.

Hmm... IIRC, that error comes from not having the VC++ 2008 runtimes installed. My bad. I forgot to mention the dependency. It can be found here.

I thought I had Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 already installed, upon double checking, I have Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable - x86 9.0.30729.17, Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 ALT Update kb973924 - 9.0.30729.4148, and Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 x86 Redistributable - 10.030319. I downloaded Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 SP1 Redistributable Package (x86), upon installing it prompted for either a Repair or Uninstall, I selected repair, and it required a restart afterward. I attempted to execute eihort.exe once again via the CMD (command prompt) and it gave the same error message in my above post:

"The system cannot execute the specified program."

So far, I'm at an impasse.

The eihort.exe included with the downloaded refuses to start on Windows Xp Pro Sp3 32bit.

When attempting to execute the "eihort.exe" file from the CMD (command prompt), CMD reports back with:

"The system cannot execute the specified program."

I've attempted to execute "eihort.exe" & "eihort" from both a default directory and where eihort.exe is contained. Also, attempting to execute eihort.exe from the GUI via double-clicking produces this error:

    "C:\Documents and Settings\...[path]...\eihort.exe
This application has failed to start because the application configuration is incorrect. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem.
    "

In addition, I have noticed the example directory you supplied in the Read Me file, it suggests you've tested this program on Windows Vista or Windows 7, have you tested the program on Windows XP?
