posted a message on ¿How to convert a permanent signal (lever) to a temporal signal (like a button) ?
Also, if what you're looking for is a pulse every time you both turn it on, AND turn it off, the best thing to do is hook up a piston with a switch to a BUD. That, way, flipping the switch from on to off, or from off to on triggers the BUD.

posted a message on A Challenging Circuit
Hey guys, it's me again, with a much simpler request this time.
I'm wondering if it's possible to hook up four or five RS NORs so that when one is on, it resets all others.
Whenever i try to make this, i end up getting two RS NORs that MUST have the same state, (i.e. As well as resetting the other, it also turns it on)
    Thanks so much in advance!

why not just have your piston push a block over a torch, the block is then powered and can send power

    weeeeell...
being able to put torches and dust on top of pushed blocks would allow amazingly simple designs for circuits that require a change in wiring direction. An example would be a multiplexer with a piston pushing dust to complete two different circuits.

A pulse raises all the upward facing pistons, shorter the pulse the better. You can use sticky pistons and any block if the pulse is a full tick.

A 4 tick delay separates each vertical piston. The pulse to the bottom is shorter than the delay between pistons, so each time you pulse only the next block is held up.

Use these in a lot of places:

    Thank you soooo much!
ive been looking for this for a long time, and with a slightly improved pulse generator, i was able to
    make a very compact counter.
    +1!

I've recently been drawn to how useful counters are, and while researching, i came across something called a sand counter.

The screenshot was not intended to teach, so i was unable to replicate it.

Basically, what it looked like was a bunch of upward-facing pistons with repeaters between them.

Any help would be much appreciated!

Here's one way of stringing them together

just a question, couldnt you tile them and put torches underneath them, and hook the button up to the torches?

It functions incorrectly (Button sends pulse when it shouldn't do anything). Also when send a 0 signal it takes 6 ticks to activate.

Im not exactly worried about timing or a pulse.

So let me rephrase it, It's the best DFF around for my purposes :biggrin.gif:

    Quote from TheNutrum

Nope, what turns the portal on are the signs above the lava. Signs can catch fire but can not be consumed so they immediately extinguish, but it ends up being just enough to lite the portal. The major drawback to this is that fire takes a random amount of time to lite the portal so you could wait anywhere from five seconds to five minutes.

Hmm, that strikes me as a bug. Would there be any other way?

You can move the button and lever to the other side and it will work just the same, and yes, by silver I do mean sticky(I am a derp)

    Oh i get it...

You have the button and lever on that side so it was smaller :tongue.gif:

Even with the inputs on the other side, it's still the best DFF around :biggrin.gif:

Wow. i will definately use this in the future.

Is there anything on the other side? Can you put the inputs there?

And by silver, i assume you mean sticky? :tongue.gif:

    Wow.

I'm wondering, does the button press turn the portal on as well?

posted a message on Help, for cracking redstone vaults/locks
I think what they want to know is how to crack it just by getting the combination.

    For this:

If the lock uses levers, flip levers randomly (or systematically, if you prefer) until the door opens. Takes less than a minute.

If it uses buttons, it might be auto-resetting. If it is, you'll have to systematically press buttons, which i do not recommend due to
the fact that it will take hours :tongue.gif:

The last type is the most common- the non-auto-resetting button lock. These are a lot easier, all you have to do is spam buttons.

Looking back on it, it seems that spamming is the best method for any lock. sorry :sad.gif:

When 1.7 was released, one of the most disappointing things about pistons was that a block with a RS torch or RS dust on it
would destroy the torch or dust when it was pushed by a piston.

I was wondering, is there a mod to fix this?

    Thanks,
    Mjschachy

for question 1: have the trigger input inverted and then linked to a bunch of pistons. these pistons when on put a block in front of a repeater, so when they are off the output is all off.

For question number 2: use a rectangle with all but 1 glass, and make each button push move the blocks around 1 space. Then put a torch powering a repeater inside the circle so only the nonglass block carries the current out. then hook that up to the flipflop. hope this helps and feel free to ask if i was unclear.

Thanks so much with the second answer, but i was a little confused on the first one. Could you maybe post or link to pictures please?
