Well as stated, seeing as its calling for "multiple language support" i hope I could write script with python or another language to produce structures rapidly, create towns, etc. For an added bonus, if I could program a basic bot AI to play in game, maybe something akin to the Testificate, that would be neat in itself.
This forum should see more of me as this game comes out, since this will become my primary focus again (rather than art)
Having dealt with some really horrible servers in the recent weeks (following the loss of one of my favorites), I gave a visit to this server after hearing a few positive notes about it from friends. While I'm normally apt to avoid "grrl power" servers (as the whole overzealous feminism kind of adds fuel to the fire it is fighting), I decided to give it a shot, seeing as a few other guys I knew were going to give it a look.
Upon logging into the server I was placed up front to a rule board, and behind me a set of hallways. I quickly found out it was a quiz game that you had to know the rules of the server to pass. Having a quick glance over the rules, I trekked through and made it through the maze to the main spawn within a minute or two. So far, so good. The next step however (becoming a builder) was never reached, as upon my entry into the spawn world I was greeted by a rude moderator (Wizard, I guess?) who began telling me to stop cursing. Interestingly enough the only form of communication prior to this was a hello to one of my friends, who was looking around the spawn. I insisted I wasn't doing anything wrong and began to look around, only to have the same mod begin to quiz once more on the rules, to both myself and my friend. My friend ended up getting a question wrong and was promptly banned from the server after disagreeing with the moderator. Ban Reason: 'hater, racist, sexist, nub :tongue.gif:'
However when I was asked I decided to take the more diplomatic route to mention that I had just went through a quiz that tested me on the rules, and it was likely unnecessary for them to quiz me. The moderator continued to pester me about rules, specifically the rule of "no cursing" which I found funny seeing as I hadn't committed an infraction yet, let alone this one. I got tired of the interrogation and harassment so I left, only to have one of the friends playing IM me that the moderator called me a "jackass" upon leaving. Considering this was a moderator of a site that was pestering me about a rule only to break it themselves, I decided to log back in to ask what provoked such a heated response, only to be banned immediately after logging in, without a ban reason. I wouldn't mind this so much if it weren't for the fact that it was an MCBans.com registered site, and as such my reputation on that site (i guess) has been lowered, making me look of ill repute to other minecraft moderators of other servers. The friend who informed me of the off color comment has since been banned, the reason unknown to myself.
I was going to write a proper review of this server of course, but given the fact that I was unable to experience anything beyond the spawn area, I can only rate the staff. And given my only staff interaction was with this particular "wizard", I can safely assume that the entirety of Finmine is anything but amazing or friendly. But then again, I should of just read the headline of this thread:
I fixed the grass problem with the HD Texture Patching program that floats around here. Coincidentally it's allowed me to use the water and lava textures built in too!!
Now if only someone made some animated fire to go with this awesome pack
