I always liked this server. The PVP experience really can't be beat, and the only other server I use for PVP is my own man_goose is my username, I used to be in your faction, zaptrem (can I go back in, by the way?)
Okay, I confirmed it STILL doesn't work when running as a normal user. The "minecraft-pi" file is also recognized as an executable. It seems that I'm not the only person to have this problem, I've seen comments on a few youtube videos that state the same problem I have.
Run terminal from the mcpi folder. Or reinstall. Try uncompressing the tarball in OSX.
This didn't work for me. The only real difference with your alternate method was how you extracted the folder.
Yes, and I also changed it to a .tar file instead of .tar.gz BEFORE putting it on the pi. Makes the difference, at least for me. Also use the most recent raspbian distro.
I know that gametype is currently available, but did anybody make a mod to change it to survival? all the necessary files are there, along with all mobs and etc. clouds are also supported.
Minecraft for Raspberry Pi enables you to control Minecraft with Python. (Or Java, or Ruby if you want to use those languages...) The idea is that the visual feedback you receive from Minecraft will make learning to program more fun. There will be a lot of tutorials about learning to program with MInecraft Pi Edition on the internet in the next couple of months. One of the best tutorials I've seen so far is this one:
As the author mentions in the book, it's not really the hard way. "The hard way is easier." In the long run it's the easy way, because the author is teaching you how to find stuff out for yourself. The book is designed to take you from being a beginner coder to being a reasonably good coder. By the time you get half way through the book, you will be able to understand almost all the Minecraft Pi Edition code that people write. Even if you don't understand the code, download it, run it, and change the values. You will learn from seeing what happens.
The license forbids redistributing the minecraft-pi binary. The PTPatch specification was written in order to create a very small, very fast way to distribute modification to binary files. You do not need to be able to code to apply the patches to the game, you only need to download patchtool and the patches you want, then use the tool to patch the changes.
ok. thanks for the info. I knew about PTpatch but was looking for an alternative, i can use ptpacth though.
A version of minecraft written for the raspberry pi linux box. It is designed to combine the familiarity of minecraft with the ability to modify the API and use python to put your own effects into the game. If you don't know what a pi is, go to www.raspberrypi.org and read about it. or read the intro that the forum mods posted.
So I made a server, and got that all up and running. Then I came to the port forwarding. I got the linksys wireless router (the server is on a wifi network) to forward my ports. Then I go to get on, and nothing. Server binds to port, firewall lets it through, but yet I still can't get a signal. Canyouseeme says "connection reset". Anybody have a better tutorial that actually works?

Debian is the OS distro, the processor is entirely different. It is a Broadcom ARM cortex with a 700MHz clock speed and dual core graphics.
