    A Forest at Night!

This is my new map and it it used to indicate the importance of books in adventure map and what they can be used for :)

    RULES:
    • set time 18000
    • toggledownfall if it's not snowing
If you can't set things like this, you can either wait for night and just play without snow or just play in day, although it will not have the required effect. Enjoy!

You can find the map here!

Just put it in your saves file and start up the game!

You can use any 12w17a texture pack you want :D

Are you talking to me or him? Because the Mo' Creatures ones could be greatly improved thus could the actual minecraft ones.

If it was implemented, what difficulty(s) would it be on?

Everything but peaceful. Maybe on peaceful it could be passive?

You can't break any block but mushrooms. Your hypothesis would be very accurate however if it was possible :) Also Lying in wait for the last person will take a VERY long time.

At the moment the game has lots of fantastic mobs but I thought it was lacking a realistic based mob. My idea was to implement a bear into the game.

    Yes I know a bear.

It could spawn in Taiga and Tundra biomes , it would be a hostile mob, have a fearsome growl, brown fur for a texture and most importantly, it could stand on its hind legs when attacking but walk on all fours. I think that the bear could be iconic with its standing feature and it's fearsome growl. Also, it could live primarily by river and "catch fish". When you kill it, it could drop fish and bones.

    Opinions?

    Thanks for reading :)

There are several options, but I want to know which one you'd like to see or which one you think will be introduced next.

From the poll above, you can choose from:

Horse (as jeb promised a friend)
Red Dragon (as notch and jeb have mentioned)
    Fish (as jeb has mentioned)
    Monkeys (as Jon has mentioned)
Bears (my idea of a mob*)
    Other (comment below)

So go vote in the poll!

    Thanks for reading!

YOU DO NOT HAVE TO FOLLOW THIS IT IS JUST A GUIDE

    ITS IN CHRONOLOGICAL ORDER

Please try and read through as much as you can it took me ages.

So recently the new "Hunger Games" or "Survival Games" map has been a popular aspect of survival servers. I myself, am I a keen participant of these games and I love venturing out into the wilderness and doing all I can to survive.

I have played about 10 games and come in the top 10 in every single one. There are two main reasons for this:

    1. Everyone dies at the beginning
    2. I don't try and kill other people

This has worked numerous times for me, and what I am about to tell you now, should work for you!

    Going it alone

So you're going it alone huh? This my preferred way of playing, because it allows you to go wherever you want whenever you want without the hassle of helping others.

From here, you have two options:

    1. Run to the middle
    2. Run to the wilderness

    Run into middle

If you are going to run into the middle on your own, you have little to no chance of surviving but if you are, this is what you should do:

When you run into the middle and grab your items, don't take too long. Go into two chests at most, because by that time, others will have got there stuff and started killing you, especially if you're in a group. Now you have the option of the running off, or killing others. Since your on your own, I highly recommend running, because failing to kill others can **** you off if you've waited ages for a game.

If you do survive killing others, which is a rarity, you now have freedom to go through chests and make sure you pick up everything of worth. From here, you can go out and find people, or stick with it and stay at the cornocopia.

    Run into wilderness

If you can run into the wilderness at the beginning, you have a great chance of surviving past the first day. But there are things you have to avoid:

    1.The main island
    2. Water holes

The main island is where the people with all the items stay, so don't hang around unless you want to be killed. Even finding lots of chests with a bit of food and a stone sword won't save you.

Water holes are deadly. They are commonly filled with traps and if you are seen in one, you are stuck, as many water holes only have one way to exit.

My advice to you would be to leave the main island and head to a nearby island EXCEPT the one with ruins on it. That island is where most people go when they play for the first time. These neighboring islands are littered with chests and can provide safe zones because you can see anyone coming close. Even better if you go near the very edge of the map after finding at least one chest. Scouring each island can find you very valuable food and weapon sources.

    Alliances

So you've formed an alliance? This way of playing has it's upsides and it's downsides. Mainly downsides because at any time one of you could turn on the other but also some very good upsides because you can face off solo players easily and kill faster.

So once again you have two options

    1. Run into the middle
    2. Run into the wilderness

    Run into middle

As you are in a team, it's worth using you're numbers as an advantage and run into the middle. One of you could go through chests while the other attack? Or you could both gather twice as many items? It's up to you.

    Run into wilderness

If you choose to run into the wilderness you can work together, both visiting different islands and meeting up on another or just running around, one looking for food, the other covering for protection. Only problem is, without finding weapons, you are stuck with just numbers so even facing a solo player with nothing won't give you the advantage, they could have various weapons and armour by now.

    So what now?

Once you're in the wilderness you can either keep exploring or hide. Hiding is great if you have enough food but can be boring. If you don't have food and your hunger is low. Hide and don't move. It's boring but you'll survive.
Or you can go exploring. Around the edge of the map, you can swim from island to island and there's a chest on every other one or so and can prepare you for what troubles you have.

    At night

At night, mobs come out to play. These guys are horrible. If you are gonna keep wandering around at night while mobs are about, you;re screwed. Once your seen by one, you have to run and running drains your food bar. In other words, you're dead.

So it's best to find a tree or a cave and sit it out. Trust me, you don't want to waste your hunger.

    Cornocopia

So once you've played a day or so, the numbers will be reduced. When you or your team have enough food or weapons, it's time to come out of your cave and go to cornocopia. The admin should be able to refill the chests and there are great things to be found. But be careful, others may also wish to return there and take advantage.

    Chests

Chests are found pretty much in the most random places but there is a way of looking. If you find a hidden gap between the wall then you should look there and any holes in the ground around walls could hold them. But most of all, they're found in traps...

    Traps

Traps are dangerous and irritating. You can always tell when your about to face one because it may be a small cave in the wall or small passageway underground. You want to mainly avoid traps but the goodies inside can be worth it. Anything with a button or lever on it is a danger sign. Press them and run out. Unless you can't haha.

    The End?

So that is pretty much all you need to know from me. Now before you go telling me what may or may not be correct, bare in mind that you don't have to follow this pattern. If you have devised your own plan you can keep to that. Most of all, enjoy it! It's easy to get nervous because you've never played it before or you just want to do well.

Hope you've read it and I hope it helps you survive :D

That's a good idea actually. Maybe it should depend on when you bought the game or something?
