I do like the contrasted wood colors with each plank on top of each other but other than that this is wholly unoriginal and completely bland.

Take into consideration what you're saying.
Put everything aside, and at the end of the day, we'll all run off happy? Not really. The amount of crap in the subsections of said locations have overrun the good content. Hell, you guys could put restrictions on what people can submit! The Texture Packs forum has the odd new gem, but otherwise, it's just the same old packs on the front page and default edits/bucket fills/simple packs. Chances are, if someone wants to see packs, they want to see variety - not the same packs on the front page every time.

To be honest, this is an inherent problem with nearly every high-traffic forum, so I'm not sure a forum is the best venue to be looking Texture Packs, and are more suited to discussion. Thankfully, we do have stickied threads like the Texture Pack Central to make things easier, but it still means the front page will be dominated only by terrible new texture packs or the insanely popular good ones.

The young audience and accessibility of and to Minecraft, respectively, is probably the main cause of all of this. Just because you can doesn't mean you should. I think we should have a rule to go through a simple, logical thought process before posting, similar to the following:
    • 1) Am I breaking any rules?
    • 2) Is this a good enough to share with the world?
    • 3) Could I regret posting?
    • 4) Do I have anything to contribute to a discussion and/or in general?

The thing is, only the first question is actually objective. The other three probably won't make a difference to new members unless they've already made a mistake in the past and been berated for it by the public. As a rule, the first one would be redundant. Everyone knows they're supposed to follow the rules. The problem is most new members don't have the forethought to actually read them, which is what this guidelines thread is for, to push the Texture Pack Board Rules to the forefront while offering additional tips to avoid conflict and encourage better work.

You should add: No Blurred Pack!

You know, the packs that people take and double in size, then release?

    Very blurry. *rubs eyes*

    I believe that is stealing.

Pretty much this. If you're taking someone else's work and making it bigger, that's obviously stealing and is already taken care of in the rules. The only other issue I could see with it is if they're blurring the default, which would seem extremely counter-intuitive because it would look terrible and have horrible tiling issues that would make it borderline un-usable. Maybe I should add a guideline that states that you should test and make sure your texture pack actually works well as a texture pack.

#4 - Make sure your texture pack actually works

Testing your texture pack before releasing it is extremely important. If you post a texture pack that glitches out when you try to use it or has horrible, unintentional tiling problems as a result of some filter or method you used to make the pack, people aren't going to be too fond of your pack. If your texture pack is HD or has other features that require MC Patcher or OptiFine, make sure you say so.

I've also added this to #11.

    -Blurred Packs-
Blurred packs are packs that are poorly upscaled or have added filters that make the textures muddy and blurry. Not only do they look terrible and ruin any detail that the pack might've already had, it also causes horrendous tiling issues as a result of the edges of each individual texture blending at the edges, making them practically unusable. On top of that, if you are upscaling someone else's pack, it counts as stealing, and you may be warned or banned.

But seriously, if I was in charge of Mojang, I'd be sending you a job offer. One more thing I forgot to mention in my previous post- The iron doors just seem to be a recolor of the wooden door texture. They're pretty dark and have a lot of visual noise. In my mind, iron doors in this texture pack would be clean and shiny.

Haha, well to be honest, I think there are plenty of other texture artists that deserve that position more than me, but it still makes me with you were in charge of Mojang. :P

As for the iron doors, yeah, I should really fix. It doesn't fit with the other iron items. I made it back when I wasn't sure if I would even finish it, so it makes sense that I should fix it now. :)

I've come back to the game and was hoping to use this. Thanks for continuing to supporting it.

Also, your items look really good. Glad you got around to making them.
Thanks! :D I felt like the pack needed to be more complete in that respect. Hopefully mobs will happen eventually as well so I can call it completely... complete...

    Oh wait GUI FAAAAAH.

I really love this pack! I'm using it as my default server texture pack for the small server I host.

Th only thing I wasn't too fond of was the grass, it seemed a little too neon for my taste. I blended the grasscolor.png and foliagecolor.png from this texture pack and the default MC texture pack (50% of each). It still appears very bright, but doesn't appear to be glowing any more.

Thanks again for a great texture pack!

Here are the grasscolor.png and foliagecolor.png files that I'm now using:

    Below are screenshots-

That actually doesn't look too bad. I may try that out myself and see how I like it, because I know the green I use for the grass is insanely green, almost MSPaint green at times. But maybe some people like that, so I dunno about changing it permenantly. Either way, I'm glad you made it work for you. :)

One of the best I've seen! I love the colors and the detail, wow.

even if it's just a default edit, it's a pretty nice looking one. The subtle difference the mosiac effect has is very interesting.

Sure it's not the most original idea but it's not a terrible version of it.
