    I think it's a good idea, but wouldn't you be able to find your way back using a compass (if your lighthouse is close to the spawn point)? I was actually thinking of starting a world to do something similar or use some of my current worlds. Basically my plan is to spend some time in an area creating a shelter and perhaps a monument to 'mark' it and move on, doing the same thing at another area. I just thought it would awesome to one day while lost I would 'rediscover' some of my old monuments and experience them all over again.

    According to Minepedia, if only one side of the log is burning, it will last forever (or at least until Notch changes the behavior). So perhaps if you cover all its sides with non-combustible material, ignite it and later once stable remove the material around it it could work. Or keep it confined by half-steps which might prevent the fire from spreading to the sides.

    Maybe some eternally flaming logs? Would give the lighthouse a sort of old-school charm to it. You'd have to be careful not to have flammable materials up there, though.

    That lighthouse looks great Rensje, and it definitely shows off the Texture pack. I also like how the islands around it seem to fit into the scenery perfectly. You mentioned the dock isn't complete, so there's a door near the base floor of the lighthouse? I thought there was going to be a door near that wall behind the dock...?

    I see your point, though, and I guess I have to agree. I think maybe the door should have some kind of texture to it, albeit a very simple one, as apposed to just a flat colour.

    Oh, by the way, if I may be so bold..
    Instead of using the normal img and /img tags, try using the simg and /simg tags when posting big screenshots. This automatically turns them into clickable thumbnails! Much easier. Right now your screenshots are only half visible on my page, the rest of it is just cut off by the website's border.


    I usually do put some kind of block around doors (usually a wood arch :wood: ),but I'm very short on supplies at the moment in this world. I haven't commenced any real mining operation, and I'm only harvesting one tree at a time and then rationing it. So I'm tight on stone and wood blocks.

    Thanks for the advice though, and thanks for the help with the img tags, I was looking for an alternative to them but didn't see anything on the toolbar. I've already changed the tags so that people can better appreciate the pictures and they don't get cut off.

    Whoo.. some of those pictures I had to go great lengths to obtain. Lost a bow and an old sword in the process too, good thing I left most of my important things back at the settlement.

    Sounds the game didn't close properly or something like it and therefore still using the folder, did you try ending the process? Otherwise a reboot should end any rogue instances that might be using the folder. If nothing else works restart in safe mode and try again just like Grickit said.

    Just tried out the texture pack, more awesome than I could have predicted! My only critique is that doors and torches have a shade of color very similar to dirt, thus seem to blend in and it can make finding doors slightly harder than normal. Perhaps a lighter shade, more akin to wood? Just my suggestion, since most of my structures in my new world are made of dirt, and it makes it seem like they have no doors at a distance. Might post some pictures later to better illustrate my point.
