I think that was something added in 13w38a

I just found that it has been confirmed as a bug.

Has anyone else noticed how the sky gets all dark when you look out from inside a building or cave?

    New biomes are coming...
    New generation is coming...
the world is getting a complete overhaul.

To all of those regular posters in this thread...

CAN YOU PLEASE SHUT UP NOW?

    I have some questions.
A: is this your forum? If not, why are you so concerned about what it is used for.
B: Is it too much to ask that you simply don't click on a thread that you don't want to participate in?
C: This thread is fine according to forum guidelines. Afaik posting off topic comments (which you do) is not.
D: Considering the first three questions, why don't you simply mind your own business and let people use the forum for what it is there for and take your own advice? CAN YOU PLEASE SHUT UP NOW?

I find those flower forests absolutely stunning. The flower forest is a rare biome, so it does need something special to be worth traveling for. Just like the ice spikes and the sunflower field, which do break a little bit the common sights of the world. To me those special biomes are just pure art.

I'm not agauinst flower forests. I just don't like all colors spammed together in one place. It kills the mood for me.
    Quote from Falcrist

Too colorful? I think that's the point.
Anyway, we already have forests with two colors. They're called forests.

Obviously the difference between forests and flower forests is the amount of flowers. Also i don't care what "the point" is. I prefer less colors, period.

    A nice flower forest:

While i like the idea, as they are now ,they are a bit too colorful for my taste. They should generate with only one or two colors in the same forest.

    Missed this post somehow.

I have seen jungles. Additionally, there is JungleEdge now.

As for snowy taigas, there is Cold Taiga biome, and its corresponding Hills biome.

I have literally created a dozen worlds (on standard settings) and flown around in them for hours but i haven't come across even a hint of a jungle o_O. Am i just unlucky or is there something weird going on with the biome distribution.....?

Confirmed. Seems to be an intended thing, since there is a forest sub-biome that generates only normal trees and large trees instead of only normal and birches. I may have read it wrong though, as it's obfuscated. Can anyone tweet Jeb about that?

It seems to me that we are simply looking at a messy mid-development generator, because so far i have not been able to find any jungles or snowy pine tree forests. Otoh there seems to be an overabundance of the "fat-trees with shrooms" biome. I can't imagine that this is anywhere near what the final version will look like.

The latest snapshot seems really promising, especially when it comes to variety. I have found several really tall mountains inforest biomes. Also the "swamp" biome seems to come in a mountainous variety now (call it dark forest or whatever) The previous overabundance of jungles and extreme hills has also been toned down.

But there are some weird things too. There seem to be no large trees in forest biomes. I hope that's just a bug or a development phenomenon. Also the sun seems to have changed position. It shines on the shaded sides of mountains and obejects which looks really weird! hope that it wont stay this way....

Nope. As I said, it's just something you personally don't prefer. Others people have different preferences than you do.

Nope. This way of thinking has killed variety, and that's a fact. Of course you might argue, that killing variety is not idiotic, i don't give a damn.

I'm pretty sure I didn't say anything about km2 flat areas.

What i mean is, you could without problems find LARGE flat areas. Of course if you need ridiculousloy large areas (kmĀ² ballpark) it might become a bit harder.

If I take that as a massive exaggeration of what you actually mean, you're not just outnumbered. You're outnumbered by at least one order of magnitude.

    Prove it

If you don't believe me, you're welcome to make a post bashing biomes on the minecraft reddit. Let me know how it goes.

Well, how is reddit so special that it is proof of your claim?

You could say quite a few things about my post. Since I've seen your other posts, I'd wager they would be incorrect.

Since your posts so far have been mostly incorrect, i guess this one is too.

Stop being obnoxious. People who play minecraft have a variety of opinions on what the terrain generator should do. Characterizing those who disagree with you as idiotic seems unwise, especially when

The whole concept of strictly specified biomes is idiotic. It's what destroyed one of the most awesome aspects of the game. And i comes straight from the notion that certain biomes have to serve a certain purpose or be kept in a certain style. No one ever complained about there not being enough flat land to build in the betas, because there never was a lack of any such kind of terrain. Yet people keep bringing up these nonsensical arguments that there would be mountains spammed everywhere and there is no place to build, or that mountains in grasslands or forests are unrealistc etc. and i'm just tired of it.

    2) those people seem to outnumber you by an order of magnitude.

Got some proof? Do you think that i'm (and people who agree with me) outnubered by people who need square kilometer sized flat lands to build?

I know you think you're helping out by making posts like these, but you're really not.

I could say the same about your post.

So, you want this to be a grassland biome?

I didn't say i want "this to be a grasslands biome"

    Need I post more pictures?

If variation = extremehills in grasslands what would our flatter biomes be are you sure you want mountains to be that dense with 'variation'?

Sure, I want mountains to be possible everywhere but not pasted all over the place, that can stay in extreme hills. They are already editing extremehills so I'm pretty sure they will be here to stay.

And even if we get mountains everywhere in this update, why get rid of something that a lot of people like?

I want full hight variation everywhere, i.e. anything from plains to "extreme hills" in every biome. I didn't say i want mountains to be spammed everywhere. The fans of the extreme hills will have what they want in a mountainous grasslandds biome.
    Quote from Youngy798

These last few pages have been quite confusing. I don't understand what you guys are trying to actually do. Do you want full height variation in biomes or subs biomes like X-hills?

I would prefert full height variation, im just not so sure we will get that, because of all the "omz we ned teh planez buyom fur beldeng larg1!1!1!"
    Quote from Pencilshavings5

Sure the terrain is a large part of the game but there's no way it could die because of it.

It has done exactly that for me. I never could **** myself to do anything in any of the post 1.7 versions

Because they should be much less dense in other biomes.

Well, if the variation was random.....there would be more and less dense moutains in other biomes.
    Quote from Pencilshavings5

Because maybe some people like it but still want hills in other biomes. Extreme hills doesn't reproduce anything close to what other people want with this 'variation' thing, if i remember correctly.

Mountains in a grasslands biome = extreme hills. I don't see how they would still be necessary.

Just because extreme hills may still be in the game, (even thought they have made some changes to it) that doesn't mean they didn't add variation.

But why would there need to be a seperate biome for extreme hills if they are found in other biomes?

No offense, but your posts don't really make much sense anyway. It's difficult to understand the context of what you are saying much of the time.
