Precisely. Though I thought that this was a point of contention in the books, whether you willed the world into being or simply willed the ability to travel to such a world. Atrus' father believed he created the worlds he wrote about, while Atrus believed these worlds already existed. It was never really definitely settled though, unless I missed something.

The point is kinda mute after Atrus makes the crystal viewer that allows him to look at ages without writhing a stable link. The link dose have power over part of the age the descriptive book is linked too. You can add items to an age but too much tampering and an age gets unstable or is lost forever.

From what I remember of the games / books, both the ink and the paper used to create ages are very difficult to obtain. During the times in which the games take place the culture that created the materials, the D'ni, no longer exist and took the knowledge of how to craft them with them.

Ya you are right it took a specific tree to make paper and a correct bug to make ink. "The Art" was a language that allowed ideas to be transformed into links to other dimensions its not that you made them you just made the link. So if you where unable to write to a stable age it would probably kill you if you linked. Also "The Art" was passed down after the fall of D'ni under New Mexico. In the game its shown that there are workaround to the linking books. They just happen to be the easy way to dimension shift.

I love linking books and this is a great idea. If people don't know about Myst they should look it up.

I you need to to the two different books.

    Descriptive books "aka new ages"

Linking book "aka tp to where it was made"

Linking books not working in the same age.

So people mite as well make a home age and linking back to it for exploring.

The end has yet to be written.

    Keep it up.
