I'd like to see more biome specific mobs and items - encourages more exploration and world expansion.
More development focus on the Sea and perhaps sea life.
Deeper Fishing mechanics and actual in-game fish (not only and necessarily the same exact fish as the Fish item but variations).
Deeper expanded Farming mechanics.
An option to assign Sprint to a damn key instead of mistakenly triggering it every time I want to inch forward without holding Shift.
Villagers receive a visual over haul. They are not charming nor match the rest of the quality of the game in my opinion.

Monkies are still a terrible idea. There are many more animals that could be done. My list:
Parrots (Along with the Pirate English, Arr!)
More Fish creatures (Sharks, blowfish)
I think Tropicraft had monkies and it didn't work out too well.
The purpose of my prior post is not to promote monkeys. If they're added, then hey cool... whatever. The point is the abrasive actions of enforcing one's desires (and personal limitations) over another in a game that is ultimately an imaginative sandbox with infinite results, is a collective oxymoron towards the game's direction.
Personally, I'd like to see Frogs and Fish but that doesn't mean I wouldn't want to see all types of animals even the imaginative ones like the Mooshroom. It doesn't take away anything from me as a player but it offers up so much variation is this strange, amazing open world game that is Minecraft.

Maybe because you have a lack of imagination, aren't a developer and obviously easily irritable.
Anything can have purpose if implemented correctly - It's Minecraft for Pete's sake or have we forgotten what we've been playing for the past couple of years? Just how you mentioned positive attributes for your defense of felines, someone can do the same for monkeys or whatever ridiculous mobs people might realize (Look at Mooshrooms for instance).
Your thinking is limited.

At that point, I would like farm animals to be removed from jungles. They look out of place, and clutter the biome.
Eventually I'd like to see specific mobs for specific biomes (specific items too). Thus encouraging the player to travel and experience all of which Minecraft's world has to offer.
I agree with the farm animals, they should be regionalized.

The mere idea of skeletons not burning up in the morning really annoys me.
Now we're gonna be FORCED to fight even if we don't want to if we ever want to get close to those buildings with overhangs. As if dealing with morning creepers wasn't irritating enough.

So you're implying that players will not come to the forums to complain?
What is this sorcery you speak of?
On a serious note, the AI is being tweaked currently and it will fit the game naturally. Players will learn to adapt and it won't be impossibly hard on normal settings. The AI needed a huge overhaul considering there was barely any proper AI to begin with before jonkagstrom was hired.
